About Synchro Gold

Called “the world’s most powerful turmeric supplement” by the manufacturer, Synchro Gold’s super-concentrated turmeric root and other organic ingredients promise to fight inflammation, boost immune system response and energy, and improve brain function.

And with its “cutting-edge nutrient delivery system,” we’re told that Synchro Gold’s formulation provides unmatched bioavailability and potency compared to other turmeric supplements.

According to the company, Synchro Gold is gluten and dairy-free, includes all non-GMO ingredients, and is made in a cGMP and Organic Certified facility in Southern California.

In order to experience these benefits, the manufacturer tells us you need to take 1-2 servings of Synchro Gold daily. Beforehand, they recommend shaking well and mixing 1oz of the supplement with 4-6oz of a “warm non-dairy milk product and a bit of honey.”

Sounds simple, right? And who wouldn’t want to experience reduced inflammation and many of the other benefits promoted by Synchro Gold?

Is this what you’ll actually get for your money, though? Can you expect Synchro Gold to work any better than the competition? Let’s help you find some answers.

What Is Turmeric? How Do Synchro Gold’s Other Ingredients Work?

Here’s what we’re told you’ll find in Synchro Gold:

  • Organic Turmeric Root Extract (Supercritical CO2 Extraction) 500mg
  • Organic Black Pepper Fruit Extract (Standardized to 95% Piperine) 10mg
  • Other Ingredients: Organic Ginger (CO2 Extraction), Sunflower Lecithin, Reverse Osmosis-Filtered Water

Turmeric is a South Asian plant whose rhizome—the underground portion of the stem—is harvested, dried, and ground into a fine powder. Then, it’s commonly used as a food flavoring (it’s the main spice in curry), as well as a fabric dye.

Whether raw or powdered, turmeric contains a chemical called curcumin, which is often used to address inflammation. According to the Arthritis Foundation, it does this by blocking “inflammatory cytokines and enzymes, including cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), the target of celecoxib (Celebrex).”

To this end, WebMD indicates 2,000mg daily of turmeric is possibly effective for reducing pain and improving function in individuals with osteoarthritis. However, they also note that:

“In some research, turmeric worked about as well as ibuprofen for reducing osteoarthritis pain. However, it does not seem to work as well as diclofenac for improving pain and function in people with osteoarthritis.”

They also indicate turmeric can help reduce total cholesterol and itching in people with long-term kidney disease.

According to WebMD, ginger may provide a wide variety of benefits, including the same osteoarthritis pain-related benefits as turmeric (but nothing related to inflammation), in addition to reduced dizziness and nausea, improved symptoms of morning sickness and menstrual pain, and more.

Remember all the talk about phospholipids and “liposomal turmeric” on the Synchro Gold website? They’re referencing sunflower-derived lecithin, which is an essential fat that’s converted into acetylcholine, a key neurotransmitter in the body.

The problem? Despite this potential neurotransmitter boost, authoritative websites indicate it’s only effective for addressing liver disease, but not for anything related to brain function.

Taken together, websites like WebMD and the Arthritis Foundation indicate the turmeric found in Synchro Gold may be able to help with osteoarthritis-related pain and swelling, while the ginger may also help address pain.

However, these sites note that there’s insufficient clinical evidence showing any of the supplement’s other ingredients can provide additional meaningful benefits, such as boosted brain or immune system function, improved energy, stimulated antioxidant systems, and more.

What about side effects?

Will Synchro Gold’s Ingredients Cause Any Side Effects?

While their efficacy might be limited (again, according to authoritative websites), the positive news is that if you experience any side effects at all from Synchro Gold’s ingredients, it probably won’t be anything worse than mild digestive upset.

How Much Does Synchro Gold Cost?

Synchro Gold is only available through the manufacturer in the following quantities:

  • 1 Bottle (16 servings): $28.97
  • 1 Bottle w/Autoship: $27.52
  • 2 Bottles: $54.97
  • 4 Bottles: $103.97

If you choose the autoship option, this means you’ll continue receiving a new bottle of Synchro Gold once per month (or 45, 60, or 90 days—your choice) and charged $27.52 each time.

Regardless of which quantity you purchase, all Synchro Gold orders come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. Keep in mind, however, that this only applies to unopened product and is only applicable for store credit.

In order to request a refund, you’ll need to reach out to customer service at info@synchro.co.

Are There Any Third-Party Synchro Gold Reviews? What About Other Turmeric Supplements?

At the time of our research, there were 165 customer reviews on the Synchro Gold website, who had given the supplement an average rating of 5 stars.

There, most compliments appeared to reference quality products, ease of use, and positive benefits (increased energy, better mood, decreased pain, etc.).

What few complaints there were commonly referenced no results.

Despite this large amount of customer feedback, along with the fact that the Synchro Gold website has been in place since 2014, we didn’t encounter a single piece of customer feedback for the supplement on any third-party websites.

From a company perspective, Synchro Gold’s manufacturer claims the company was founded in 2011 by a biochemist and nutritionist named Graham Ryan (almost no third-party information available online), and is based out of Berkeley, CA.

The thing to keep in mind here is that turmeric supplements are extraordinarily common, so Synchro Gold literally has hundreds of competitors—some of which are priced as low as $9 and can be purchased locally, potentially saving you S&H charges.

Granted, not all of these contain the same phospholipids and “liposomal turmeric” as Synchro Gold, or the additional ingredients.

But as we learned earlier, authoritative websites don’t indicate that phospholipids can reliably improve curcumin delivery—or even if they could, that this improved delivery will result in more substantial benefits than competitors.

Will Synchro Gold Reduce Your Inflammation or Provide Any Other Benefits?

When it comes to Synchro Gold, there are a lot of “gives and takes.”

For example, turmeric and ginger have a very real chance of reducing your osteoarthritis-related inflammation and pain, both of which Synchro Gold contain.

However, in order to get the recommend daily dose of turmeric, you’ll need to take four servings of Synchro Gold (while the manufacturer recommends taking only two).

On top of this, for the price of one bottle of Synchro Gold, you could purchase up to 2 or 3 bottles of some of the lower priced competition (or even one bottle of turmeric and another of ginger), which might provide many of the same benefits, while delivering greater overall value.

Another example is that Synchro Gold contains phospholipids, which limited research has shown might improve the bioavailability of turmeric. However, in order for something like this to be “proven” effective, there needs to be a large body of evidence, which websites like WebMD indicate isn’t available.

Taken together, if you’re suffering from osteoarthritis and the associated inflammation and pain, Synchro Gold might provide some health benefits—if not necessarily the greatest amount of value. Just be sure to talk with your doctor before placing your order!

Product arrived damaged, broken, wet, and leaking. No customer service available. I emailed, sent a request on their website, and sent a comment on Facebook. Interestingly, when I place an order I get an immediate response.

    Didn't work for me!

This product is not a cure-all. And buyer beware, there is no satisfaction guarantee.

I tried it religiously and finished one full bottle. I purchased two bottles to get the better deal, thinking I could return the unopened one if necessary. My results: no change in joint pain, and an increase in acid reflux. When I tried to return the unused bottle, I was told it could only be exchanged for another product, no money refund.

There are better companies if you want give turmeric a try because I do believe it is worth experimenting with.

This company is hiding behind their REFUSAL to show a contact telephone number and REFUSAL to answer emails concerning INCORRECT UNWANTED SHIPMENTS.

They are a fraud to deal with!

It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a reply response to inquiries about wrong shipped orders, etc. This reply is after two email messages sent to this company and NO REPLY.

A two bottle supply was ordered and received, and nicely packaged. I have used it as directed for a week.

They recommend mixing a dose with non-dairy milk and honey. The reason (I can tell you) is that the taste is horrific! I am not a big fan of hot and spicy, so the strong pepper kick is harsh. The overall taste is just nasty, and I found that eating food immediately after drinking this "helps" to drown out most of the nastiness. Don't burp, or else.

I will give it another week, but presently, I am inclined to seek a refund.

    Synchro Gold vs Turmeric Powder

    • Honey Brook, PA,

I have been sucked in with many chronic pain relief supplements in the hope that something would work. Even with my pharmaceutical knowledge, I almost was victimized by a company selling O2 in a capsule. Seriously. You have to wonder what happens to whatever you swallow. Does it get to the place where you have inflammation?

I did just get my first bottle of Synchro Gold. Of course, I can’t really afford it. It does, however, ring true that it is a more absorbable form of turmeric. If you stick some turmeric in a soup, for example, how on earth would you measure how much you actually have imbibed. There is no way of knowing. If you take a capsule of that nasty, staining stuff, you really have no idea how much is absorbed. I have tried to mix the powder with warm almond milk and ginger. I know enough to make a paste first and then add liquid gradually, but it is a time-consuming process.

Each 15 ml of the Synchro Gold contains 500 mg of turmeric, which is anecdotally half of the daily dose for inflammation. Because it is already in a liquid form, there is no need to guess whether you have swallowed the whole dose. My guess is that it is not absorbed in the stomach but in the small intestines.

I will give it a one month trial. I can only judge effectiveness by relief of symptoms of inflammation in the neck, hands, and knees especially. I stopped taking naproxen about a month ago and am unable to afford anything by prescription.

I am confident that the dosage is correct. I will let you know about effectiveness in a month, but it is worth try.

    it works great for me!

I started taking Synchro Gold turmeric elixir on 11/19/16. By the next day, I felt no more pain in my ankle or knee. I had broken my foot in 2012 and fell on my knee a week prior.

I was having a lot of discomforts and some swelling in the ankle. I am sold! This product really does what is says.

It's now been over two weeks and I have faithfully taken it daily. If you don't like it's strong aftertaste, try it with a small glass of milk to follow. It's worth the try. Very happy customer.

    Changed my life

I am on bottle 8 or more, and I will never be without it again. I have an L5-S1 disk issue, which I have had for over 20 years, and nothing relieves my pain and inflammation like this product does. I also have osteoarthritis, and within a week of taking this product, I was going up and down stairs with great fluidity and with no pain. I also feel so much more alert, energized, and my brain has more clarity. I ran out this past week (bad mistake), and I could feel my symptoms coming back, and I was not as energized or clear. I will never stop taking this! It has been a true life changer for me.

I have recommended this product to a few friends, and one just told me the other day how she also ran out, and she can REALLY tell in her brain clarity. She had a knee replacement, which, when taking Synchro Gold, had a great reduction in stiffness and pain.

I was skeptical at first too, but I tried it. Try and it and feel the difference. I am not a fake person. I am real, and I have nothing to gain by giving this product a great review, other than the fact it might help someone with health issues similar to mine.

Be aware of the taste, though! I grew to get used to it, and I can take it without a chaser, so keep that in mind when you first start taking it. Take it with a chaser of juice or something until you get used to it.

    On my honor, it works!

After taking this (I'm not going to lie, horrible tasting stuff) for about a week and a half, I can honestly say that the arthritis pain in my knees and severe pain from the torn whatever in my left shoulder has practically disappeared!

I was kind of skeptical, but WOW, this stuff really works! I take it with a few ounces of almond milk while holding my breath. I have a piece of candy ready to pop immediately into my mouth after (LOL). It is probably not the smartest idea, but ew!

I will continue to down this gross stuff as long as I can afford it, believe me. The relief way outweighs the taste! I highly recommend Synchro Gold to anyone with arthritis and certain other sources of pain.

My Synchro Gold experience thus far

I started taking Synchro Gold a couple of weeks ago. Twice a day. I am 56 years old and tend to have joint inflammation, stiffness, and pain when I don't eat properly. I currently wear many hats from commuting to/from work to caring for a parent with dementia. Talk about burning the candle at both ends!

Well, I am noticing that my energy level is up, I'm back on top of my game at the office, and for the first time this spring, I actually FEEL like it is spring! No, I am not being compensated for this review. I just know when something is good for my body, and I'm glad I set up that autoship!

    Greatly reduced my knee pain!

I ran across Synchro Gold on a website and read some of the reviews. Frankly, I thought they sounded too good to be true but convinced myself to give it a try. I had very bad knee pain that required me to take Ibuprofen several times a day. I started taking the elixir once a day. The taste is pretty bad, but I throw it back like a shot and follow it with water. The thought of mixing it in warm milk was not appealing to me.

I just finished my second week, and the results have astounded me. My pain is almost nonexistent and even better is that I have almost completely eliminated taking Ibuprofen. I would tell anyone with joint pain to give this a try.
