About The Zip Trainer
The Zip Trainer consists of two different exercise balls and a set of DVDs from The Firm, creators of popular home workout routines that combine cardio and weight training. If you follow along with the instructors on the DVDs and use the balls, The Firm claims your body will become rapidly more toned, you will look sexier, and have fun working out.
The Zip Trainer and The Firm are owned by Gaiam Americas, purveyors of a variety of different exercise products and videos. There is no BBB information or accreditation available.
How the Zip Trainer Works
The Zip Trainer itself centers around a giant soft pink 5-lb ball with a zipper around its middle. Unzipping it reveals a smaller removable yellow 3-lb core ball nestled in the center. They say you can use these two products in 8 different ways and do more than 200 exercises. (For example, you can leave the pink ball unzipped and face-down on the floor and use it as a stepper while you work out with the smaller ball.)
But if you can’t remember all the combinations, don’t worry - The Zip Trainer also comes with a set of DVDs that will lead you through a variety of different programs they say are designed to strengthen your core, give you a cardio workout, and help you lose weight quickly.
The Zip Trainer comes with:
- Pink 5-lb Zip Trainer Ball
- Inner Yellow Core 3-lb Ball
- Cycle 1: REV! DVD
- Cycle 2: PEAK! DVD

- Nutrition Guide

Bottom Line: Is The Zip Trainer a Scam?
The Firm and (Gaiam America) seem to be on the up-and-up. They have released hundreds of videos and products over the years, and have developed a fanatical following of believers in their unique cardio/weight programs. The devil is really in the details. The ball itself is fairly light, even for beginners, so it is advised to upgrade Ultimate package. From there, there are lots of upsells of different products, which include fitness gear, meal programs, and other weight training and weight-loss items. If you don’t cancel your “VIP Membership” after 60-Days, you will be billed $9.99 monthly for access. In short, if you are not careful, you are going to end up spending a lot of money on this site to get toned - but it’s better than spending it on Twinkies!
