Tradesy not seller-friendly

By Linda B., Massachusetts, Verified Reviewer

I listed some items on Tradesy. The fee for sold items was sort of high, but I was OK with that since I can list my items at a bit higher on this site. So I sold a necklace and found out that you have to wait 21 days for the money to be available. OK, I understand. Tradesy wants to make sure that everything is OK with the buyer.

Then I go to list a high-end item, but the designer wasn't on their list (although every one of this designers items are in the $3,000 and up, mine was the lowest at $1,100).

Then I find out that I can't get the name of the designer in my title unless I play a game with adding numbers to the front of the title. Really? Seriously?

Then I find out that they require a white background. OK, I should have done more research about the listing, but instead of notifying me, they went ahead a took my black background and made it white and the picture was terrible. I emailed them but have not heard back. I removed my item.

Then today was the last straw. My 21 days was up, and I transferred my money only to find out that Tradesy might take another 7 days to get around to it. Are you kidding me? I'm done with Tradesy. I'm making money on other platforms and don't need this aggravation.

No protection for buyer

By Olivia P., New Orleans, LA, Verified Reviewer

Do not use Tradesy. I attempted to sell a pair of Christian Louboutins that I purchased from Neiman Marcus. The shoes were sent in barely worn condition, along with the box with original stickers and duster bag. The buyer claimed that they were fraudulent, which I would have been fine with but upon return, the shoes had obviously been worn, were missing the gel insoles I had shipped the shoes with, and original price tag sticker had been removed from the box. Tradesy's "solution" was to offer me a $30 credit. I have filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau, but I doubt it will lead anywhere. I do not suggest using this service, and have had much better experiences with The RealReal, who purchase your item directly from you and manage all sales themselves. They do take a bigger cut, but I would've preferred that then the to have dealt with this horrendous experience.

Tradesy sells fakes

By Angelica K., Palm Springs, CA, Verified Reviewer

This is a warning for anyone who shops on Tradesy; please send your bags in to be personally authenticated by Tradesy. Twice I purchased handbags that were not authentic, and I only found out after I attempted to sell the bags and the authentication company had the bags in their hands that they were fake. Tradesy claims that their handbags are authentic 99.7% of the time, yet they use a computer system to detect this. During "pending trust review," a computerized system is looking at the photos, not a person. It is disgusting that people sell fake handbags for an authentic handbag price and Tradesy allows this by not having a trustworthy way of authenticating the bags before they go out to the buyer. I have lost out on time, money for authentication and dealt with the embarrassment of carrying a handbag that was not authentic when I was "99.7 % guaranteed" it was authentic.

Worst company ever

By Kim V., New York, Verified Reviewer

I sold a coat on 2/17/19. It was in like in new condition with multiple photos in the listing showing it’s a con, I only wore it twice previously. It was delivered on 2/23/19 and per Tradesy policy, the buyer has four days to request a return. My funds were released to me on 3/8/19, ten business days after the completed transaction. So today, 4/3/19, I receive an email that my coat was being returned to me due to stains that were disclosed. So they violated their own policies and took money from my account, basically allowing a scammer to damage my item and they took the return more than a month later. I've sold about $6k in merchandise previously but never again. All my listings are pulled and I’ll give my stuff away before I use Tradesy again.

Worst resell site out here!

By MC W., New York City, NY, Verified Reviewer

Tradesy started out as a sweet small startup...cute idea/ take off of eBay. But in the past decade, they have gotten worse and worse and now we all just need to stop using them! Especially with ALL the other reputable sites out there! I mean there's everything from old faithful eBay, to endless amounts of apps to post, sell, trade your stuff instantly - without some thieves trying steel 20% of it - for nothing! I mean, as if it wasn't bad enough when they changed their fees to 20% plus the 3% if you actually want to withdraw your money and not spend it on Tradesy! But they supposedly tried to justify this by saying they take care of all returns for the sellers and authenticate for the buyer...but they have apparently changed that too!

I just read some fellow seller reviews and I almost couldn't believe what I was reading, but then, it is the next logical step for someone trying to kill their company. But seriously, they actually do encourage people to returns items (because it's nothing to Tradesy - they only refund in site credits), but if they are going to encourage returns and then force sellers to accept - what is the point of posting anything for sale on their site!? They are working against all sellers! No other site encourages returns like they do. Every other site it's an "in case of emergency" clause - if the buyer doesn't receive what they ordered for instance. But not just for fun! Tradesy is done! We all, especially sellers need to move back to eBay, or Poshmark, or any of the trading/selling apps in our phones- there's a ton, take a look! And get the word out and let's move on and put this piece of crap company out of business completely!

If shopping from Canada, avoid this site like the plague!

By Sarah, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

If you're shopping from Canada, you risk wasting your money.

Not only did the dress I buy arrive at my place not as it was advertised by the seller, they also both had a stain on it and was not the size she said it was (she advertised it as a size 12, it came with size 9/10 on its tags). On top of that, sales to Canada are final and have no exchanges, returns, or refunds. So I wasted my money on a dress I can't wear.

If I can save the population of Canada from wasting their time and effort and cash, the moment writing this review is worth it.

Fraud and scam

By Maria T., Illinois, Verified Reviewer

Horrible company. This is fraud and scam. I bought a LV bag and I returned it because I don’t like it. I didn’t know that I still have to pay my loan to Affirm even though I returned it to Tradesy. Tradesy gave me Tradesy credit to purchase another item. This is stealing, that is not right. I will never purchase anything again from Tradesy. They don't take care of their customers. I’m paying for the item that I didn't buy.

No seller protection or loyalty

By Catherine M., East Rutherford, NJ, Verified Reviewer

I was scammed by a buyer. I have had an account for over three years, flawless record, and Tradesy got a nice commission over the three-year span. I sold a black velvet Adidas jogger for $300, set brand new, with tags. The buyer kept my new beautiful jogger and sent me back an old worn velour jogger with sagging hips, it had been worn that much. I supplied the receipt to Tradesy for the outfit to show that was the outfit I sent, I went through many emails to locate this, but it did not matter, they took my money and gave it back to the scam artist. I am closing my account and not looking back. If enough people get fed up, it will start to affect them, and their constant spike in fees. No more working for the company store, I am out.

Tradesy doesn't care for it's sellers at all!

By Chloe C. , New York, NY

I barely post anything goods on Tradesy anymore. Every item gets returned due to their return policy. The buyer uses goods for a few days and then requests a return. Almost 90% of returns have been on the last day for return and over a weekend. Items come back clearly different than when they were shipped. Tradesy treats its sellers like source cows now and is very buyer-friendly. Especially since they only give Tradesy credit back, not the money. Sellers just get their items used over and over.

Coco Chanel shoes had no soles

By Jane Elleson, New York, Verified Reviewer

Avoid Tradesy. Their customer service and empathy are missing.

I spent a lot of money on a pair of Chanel shoes for my granddaughter's 18 the birthday. The box arrived out of town, and we had the party on the fourth day of return. Unfortunate for us, had I known the shoes were unusable in my gift box, which was there (and did we get a surprise), and had I known the seller was a liar and I, as the grandmother, did not think as tp why she didn't take photos of the soles.

Stupid me; there were no usable soles. These shoes would not have made it across park avenue. The seller knew Tradesy, didn't check the goods and played me like a fiddle.

Beware. Tradesy does not care. They have their rules (the four-day rules).

Well, I do too and will take this to all consumer agencies that are in New York and California.

Unethical business practices - beware!

By Brenda E., Michigan, Verified Reviewer

I can’t even begin to convey the anger and disappointment I feel after doing business with Tradesy.

I have purchased a number of high end items that were misrepresented. They allow their sellers to charge $500+ more for items that can be purchased directly from the designer’s website. For instance, a few current LV bags are marketed as Sold Out; however, they can be purchased directly from the official LV website for about $500 less than what you would pay buying on Tradesy. One seller told me this is common practice!

I purchased a LV wallet from a seller named Sassy. It was listed as "Like New." When I received it, I was disappointed because the wallet showed clear signs of wear. Because I was new to Tradesy, I missed the four day return window. I’m now stuck with a wallet I paid $755 for, which I won’t use it due to its poor condition.

Tradesy suggested I re-list the wallet under my name. I reported a seller who overcharged me for a LV bag. Instead of giving me a refund, I was issued Tradesy credit. I lost about $600 in that purchase. Customer service is no help! I regret ever doing business with Tradesy. I believe they endorse predatorial selling practices, and in general, they are a corrupt business that needs to be shut down. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office and the BBB. I will not likely recover the $1800 that was stolen from me.

Tradesy is a complete scam. Sellers and buyers should stay away.

By Morgan L., Boston, MA, Verified Reviewer

I have sold around 20 items on Tradesy over a period of two years. I was very loyal to Tradesy until I sold my most recent item, a bag I paid over $1000 for a few years back, and listed it on Tradesy for $380. The buyer requested a return the next day, stating the bag was misrepresented, and I got the bag back from Tradesy completely destroyed. The hardware was ripped out, seams were ripped apart, and I complained to Tradesy saying I did not inflict this additional damage to the bag. They told me they can't do anything about it, so at the end of the day, I was left with the bag (completely worthless) and no pay, no compensation, no credit, no remorse, nothing. I was essentially robbed of the $380 from Tradesy.

Don't use Tradesy unless you don't mind having your items destroyed by buyers to trigger a return and having an incompetent returns team look the other way whenever it's convenient for them. Real classy company.

Do not sell on Tradesy! They will rip you off!

By L L., Los Angeles, CA, Verified Reviewer

I’ve been a seller on Tradesy for years now, this site used to be great until they started encouraging buyers to return if unhappy with the purchase. They issue site credit to the buyer and totally screw the seller. I noticed they recently have been refunding my sales and sending my items back, saying it was sold above Fair Market Price. Where Tradesy "can only accept returned items for which we can validate that the selling price is at or below Fair Market Price"... which is completely unfair. My item was sold below retail and now they want to reverse my funds and send back my item after I had to wait more than 21 days for it to get transferred to my bank. Also, they have even returned my items damaged and missing pieces! Completely unacceptable. I’ve also had my funds say they went through on Tradesy but checked my bank account and no money was ever transferred. I called my bank and they had no trace of such funds from Tradesy. I called Tradesy customer service and they gave me the runaround and couldn’t locate my funds.

After a month and contacting Tradesy four times, the funds finally appeared out of nowhere, over two months after the initial sale date. Remember to check to see if your money actually gets transferred! If this went unnoticed I would be out nearly $500. Tradesy will rip you off. This company is going under soon, it is incredibly mismanaged. Do not sell on Tradesy!

Great experience

By Vicki Haley, Atlanta, GA, Verified Reviewer

I have read the reviews and am quite surprised at the number of negative experiences. I purchased several items with my very first order, and I must say that it was a very pleasant experience. All of the items were in great condition; they shipped in a very timely manner, and everything went well. I am very pleased with the products I ordered and will order again as soon as I finish this review.

Customer service nightmare

By Amber, Texas, Verified Reviewer

The customer service for this site is non-existent. I recently purchased a bracelet on there that does not match the description or the picture listed whatsoever. It was supposed to be yellow gold with opal crystals. I received a rose gold with regular crystal bracelet.

I tried to return the day I received, then tried to file a misrepresentation claim the following day. I've been passed around from representative to representative with no resolution in sight. They sent me to different departments with no update on any of the misrepresentation claims I've filed. Don't waste your time here; you're better off just going to eBay or joining a resale group on Facebook.

Paid $150 for empty box

By Em Kay, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I had a terrible experience with this company. It is clearly a fraudulent service, and I hope it gets shut down soon! I purchased a Skagen watch for $150 and received an empty Skagen branded box without a watch inside it.

At first, the customer service people on the phone were friendly and offered to look into it, even promising a reimbursement, but when I followed up a month later, they told me the case was closed and that they would not reimburse me based on some bogus investigation process. So, in the end, I paid $150 for a cardboard box!

HORRIBLE set up and customer service

By Becca Jones, Los Angeles, CA, Verified Reviewer

You send whatever you sell directly to the buyer, and Tradesy holds your money for up to three full weeks. The buyer then can steal your item or wear/damage your item and say they received it that way. Biggest scam ever. Then they return the counterfeit or the damaged item back to Tradesy and Tradesy sends it back to you. You're left with nothing, and they give the buyer a "credit" to do it to more people. It's the perfect scam.

Save yourself a headache and losing a lot more than you stand to gain and go to another site that handles the items directly so these scams can't happen. Even when you document that the buyer stole your item and replaced it to send it back with a fake, customer service refuses to acknowledge this. They need to have a lawsuit filed against them for fraud and theft.

Worst ever scam, stay away

By Sa Fa, Chicago, IL, Verified Reviewer

I sold a few items, listed a few items, spent days listing, and for no reason, after they were published they got deleted and disappeared. Money takes forever to appear in your available funds, that is IF you get paid, ever. I got scammed by a seller called Chic Fashions Miami, who bought a $700 authentic Burberry cashmere scarf, paid the amount, and asked for it to be shipped ASAP as it was a birthday gift. The buyer was pestering constantly, sending emails for the item. I got a request for a rerun, and they replaced it with a cheap scratchy fake Burberry scarf that’s anything but wool or cashmere. I sent it back to Tradesy, who KEPT IT, as a return to sender.

This is a total scam, stay far away. They shouldn’t be in business, scamming helpless sellers. I called Florida police and reported the person and what do you know? The name was even fake. Tradesy assumed I had sent a fake. When I offered the receipt of the ite, I had the post office notarize that the item I was sending back didn’t match the item I had posted on Tradesy. Tradesy did nothing, kept the fake sent back item and turned a blind eye. STAY AWAY; it’s a SCAM. Not worth it.

Extremely upset seller

By Lux L, Chicago, IL, Verified Reviewer

Transaction date of 3/22/18, I SOLD my CHANEL earrings on Tradesy for $2100. The buyer decides to return the item. I received the earrings back on 4/11/18. I have no problem when buyers return items, but when I get it back damaged, that’s not acceptable.

Tradesy received it from the buyer and returned it back to me. I received my $2100 CHANEL earrings broken. The metal piece that holds the charm is missing. In this case, Tradesy is responsible for my earning and need to pay for it. Instead, Tradesy is giving me two options. 1) A $150 Tradesy site credit and 2) A $100 PayPal payment. NOT ACCEPTABLE.

I don’t care how much Tradesy’s return team thinks how much my item is worth, but I sold it for $2100 and still buyers out there are wanting my earrings. Definitely not worth $100 to settle this issue with Tradesy. This issue has caused me severe stress, and Tradesy is responsible for all the trouble that’s causing me.

Today is 4/29/18, and this issue is not resolved how I expect to be. Tradesy has my item in hand at their so-called "Headquarter." This is very an unfair response from their team, and Tradesy needs to take full responsibility and release my earning.

SCAM - no seller protection, avoid for anything over $40

By Valentine M., New York, Verified Reviewer

Avoid Tradesy at all cost! It has gotten worse than Craigslist (and that says something). Some of you know, I am a bit obsessed with collecting wristwatches, and have been buying/selling them for fun on Tradesy for a few years (as well as other websites). The main reason I chose to use their service was because they promise seller protection. After two years of using them, I was scammed by somebody (still not sure if Tradesy messed up or the buyer), but long story short, the buyer returned the watch to Tradesy, who then promptly decided to withdraw substantial money from my bank account, without informing me. Reason sited: your listing was not properly described. The person (or Tradesy) clearly, took the watch bracelets, and sent back the watch to me in non-working order. Tradesy then explained that they have no proof of what I sent, or how accurately I described it, and there is a discrepancy between the heading, text, and pictures. After taking 19% commission for two years plus 3% for convenience fee and making at least $3k of me, when it comes to protecting the sellers (based on who your whole business is based), you choose to just cop out? They offered to send me "40 dollars" after somebody had broken the watch and stole the bracelet...

If you are ever looking to sell something that costs more than $40 on their platform, don't. They don't care about their customers and offer no real protection. Even when I send the VIDEO/PICTURES of what I provided, they still don't care? I am not sure how a business like this can survive, but at least don't risk getting scammed and avoid at all cost. This is the first time since Facebook was created, I post a message like this to warn people, but please, be careful and tell your friends. Don't buy/sell on there, since there is NO actual protection. PLEASE SHARE with your network - companies should NOT be allowed to miss treat the customers who keep them in business.

Beware - fake Mikimoto pearl necklace

By Penny Johnson, Mississippi, Verified Reviewer

Beware. There is a seller that has an authentic Mikimoto clasp, advertises LIKE NEW Mikimoto pearls, and notes that the pearls have been restrung. The clasp looks authentic, but when I compare the strand of pearls to the ones that I currently own, these pearls are dull, having poor luster and the nacre is not up to even the lowest Mikimoto standard. So, either they are not "like new," or the pearls are not Mikimoto.

I brought this to Tradesy's attention through the return process, but evidently, their "expert" claims the markers on the piece are authentic. I guess I don't understand which markers they're using.
