    Unbelievably illegal

TruGreen does not only have very poor argumentive customer service representatives, but they will kill your lawn (brown it and say that it wasn't them), take money out of your account that you did not authorize, and make it hard to receive your unauthorized funds back. I've been waiting for almost a week to receive these funds, then I was told that the general manager, Jason Wurth, needs to approve it. After calling back, I learned that it was not in their intentions to give the full refund but auto renew other services that I canceled, the lawn killing service.

Their lawn technicians will argue with you, saying that they didn't do it (the browning chemical burn). But will admit to other chemical burns in other areas. The call centers will argue with you. Their processes, operations and customer relations are pathetic. This is the only site I found that discuss the true side of TruGreen. My co-workers canceled with them for this very reason. I would never use nor recommend them again!

    Brown yard

I had TruGreen for five years in Indiana and had a beautiful yard, but here in Phoenix, Arizona, they are just terrible. My yard is 30 % brown and looks terrible. When I called in, they said the rep has made a lot of suggestions via notes or emails, even though I am here since I am retired. I would not recommend them to anyone.

    Poor to no service provided

I got weeds, I got clovers, I have grasses that are invasive, and I can only guess I never got the flea and tick servicing. This is not a big piece of property we are talking about. I have very small dogs and they need to use the yard. I have witnessed the behavior of the techs looking around doing NOTHING (they don't think I am home). I have had to go out and get them back onto the property from their next stop.

This company is sickening. $75/per for flags and lies. The company does not renovate. I asked three years in a row and was dis-swayed from doing so to my chagrin, another season wasted.

Now, I have called a landscaper, and he reviewed the lawn and told me the above, as well as that a renovation is required.

    Wish I never used them

When I started the lawn care service, I was hoping to have all the weeds killed. By the end of a year and a half of service and $450 gone, my lawn was filled with bald patches and still covered in weeds. I complained, and they said if I pay $500 for another additional package ($950 yearly for eight treatments), they would fix them problems. Every time I tried to cancel, they offered free treatments, but I just wanted nothing to do with them anymore. The treatments were not effective.

After I canceled, they called me six times a week on average to get me back on their service. It's been two years since I canceled, and they still call me regularly.

    Huge improvement over last year

I had been treating my own lawn since re-sodding in 2011 using, for the most part, Scott's products. By late July of 2016, I noticed that the battle was lost. In spite of all my time money and efforts, the large lawn was overtaken by weeds. Fed up, I called TruGreen.

Don't get me wrong, there was sticker shock, but I knew I could call them back for additional treatments if necessary. I even told them to expect the call.

Now, one year later a friend referred to my yard as having a barefoot lawn. It is thick and beautiful. There are still some weeds but never enough for me to request an additional treatment. This spring my neighbor, having seen my results, also hired them.

Last fall I paid a pretty large price to have my yard aerated and seeded as well. I won't purchase that service again this year because it seemed too expensive for the results. The aeration was probably more beneficial than the seed, so I will handle that myself.

TruGreen in Minnesota seems to be well run and delivers on their promises. I may try their mosquito control and will report back at the end of summer.

My service must be a fluke

I started using TruGreen about four years ago. My yard was covered in little purple-flowered weeds. By the end of summer, my lawn looked awesome. They always call me in advance, and they usually knock on my front door to tell me they are there so that I don't let my dogs out into the yard for two to three hours after they leave. They are a little expensive, but so far, they have done a wonderful job. I just signed up for their mosquito control today because they are so heavy this year.

    Years being cheated

I caught them not covering a big area after I had trouble with and lost my sod in the rear yard. When I confronted the area manager and asked for sod replacement compensation, he darted away like a thief in the night.

    Poor results

TruGreen failed to make my lawn look healthy after multiple attempts over one and a half year of services. A manager was supposed to come out and assess the yard and he never showed up. I felt like they just collected a monthly service charge and did not care about my yard.

    Never again!

A TruGreen lawn salesman named Carl came to my door one evening. He said he was in the neighborhood and saw my lawn looked as if it needed some work. He then proceeded to give me an estimate on how much it would be for the lawn care. He told me it would be a total of $267 for the year. I asked if I could get on a monthly payment plan. He said, "yes, it wouldn't be a problem."

I then gave him the credit card information and he said that they would take a one-time payment of $29.95, the initial start of the service, and every 6 and 1/2 weeks they would take $39.95 out of my bank account. Well to my surprise, that Saturday morning I wake up, and they had taken the whole amount of $267 out of my bank account without my permission.

I have still to receive my money back. I canceled everything because I was so dissatisfied with the way they did things. Never again.

    Service is awful

We signed up in February. We were supposed to get our pre-emergent applied in March before weeds sprouted. Was schedule twice and rescheduled due to rain. Can't fault them because of Mother Nature but they didn't show up the second reschedule even when we got a call saying they would be out.

Now this is the end of March by now. I even called late in the day when no one had been there and was told the technician would be there. No show. That was a Friday.

I called Monday and they rescheduled. It rained that morning but was clear in the afternoon. No one showed. When I called, I was told it was because of the rain although when I was a speaking to the representative earlier she said what was going down did not matter if it rained!

I called the next scheduled day and was told they would be there. 2:30 came and there was no one yet. Spoke to a very nice gentleman and he said he would call and make sure someone made it out there. Good thing I called. The technician that came out late in the day said the man did actually call him and he came up from Maryland. I had not been on the schedule!

Needless to say, the weeds were out by this time in April. The next problem was when I called stating that we needed a repeat application as some weeds died but the majority turned yellow and then back to green.

Also a whole area had been missed as the weeds never went yellow at all. They said they would be out in three business days. I called that day and was told we were scheduled for Wednesday which is 4 business days. Guess what? It's supposed to rain so I suppose this will be rescheduled too.

Shop for a better service. This one is not all as it's cracked up to be.

    Awful service

I signed up with TruGreen last year. My lawn was in its third year after being planted from seed, and looking good. With each application, my lawn got steadily worse. Weeds popped up literally everywhere, and then crabgrass took over wide swaths of the lawn. I called them and set up crabgrass treatment for an extra cost, and it completely killed huge parts of my lawn.

During all of this, the company kept calling me at odd hours wanting to add on expensive services like "spider control," etc. The calls were very deceptive with their telemarketers using presumptive sales techniques.

Despite all this, I let them talk me into fall aeration and overseeding to repair the damage that they had done. I set it up in August. They said they would be out in two weeks. After a month, they had not come. I called again, and they said they would be out in two weeks. After 3 weeks, nothing. I called again, and they said two more weeks. Which would have put the timeline in November. I live in South Dakota, and November would be the worst possible time to plant the seed.

I asked them to cancel my service. An hour later, I got a call saying the technician was already on the way to my house and it was impossible to cancel. I said ok. Five hours later, after waiting all afternoon, I got a call from the technician saying he had some conflict and would not make it that day. I asked when he could make it and he said, "I don't know, maybe a couple of weeks."

I called customer service, went ballistic, canceled my service and demanded my money back. Since this time I have received dozens of telemarketing calls, countless emails and probably 50 or more mailers asking me to sign up again, which will never happen.

I have now found a local lawn service which provides ten times better service at 1/3 the price. TruGreen was hands down the worst customer experience I have had with any company of any kind, anywhere.
