    So over food gift boxes

    • Los Angeles, CA,
    • Mar 29, 2016
    • Verified Reviewer

These food boxes are just boring. We just received our second box and we still have everything from the last box from 2 months ago. I think most people who are interested in food, already read about and purchased any food that is interesting to them. And if you have traveled, you have experienced different cultures the right way.

    Poor way to treat customers

As a subscriber, I was receiving too many boxes monthly, so I changed to a bimonthly. I got an email saying that a box was to be sent in two weeks. The second in November! So I went in immediately and canceled completely.

I got another email saying a box had been shipped. I wanted fewer boxes and they slammed me with more. This is a ridiculous thing to do to people and I am very disappointed in this company.

    First and last time customer

I ordered my first box (a gift box for my mother's birthday) nearly three weeks ago, expecting it to be delivered within a few days of her actual birthday. When two weeks had passed, I contacted their customer service rep. They sent me a canned response about their 14 day processing time (ignoring the fact that it had been 14 days since I'd put in my order!) and made no attempt to address the fact that I ordered a box as a gift and my mother's birthday was just days away with no sign of her gift box. I responded asking for an actual answer to my question, and for the courtesy of expedited shipping so that my gift to my mother at least wouldn't be egregiously late. Finally, their service rep admitted that my order hadn't even been processed yet. They ignored my request for expedited shipping, but at least they were kind enough to agree to my demand for a refund.

Hi Karina, I'm really sorry about the delay in getting the box to your mother. I checked that the box was delivered on Dec 12 and we also started the refund process. We will be looking into why this happened to your order to avoid it in the future. We can always be reached at 855-841-0303, really sorry once again Karina.

Box has been in limbo over a month

    • New York,
    • Jan 15, 2017
    • Verified Reviewer

It's been over a month since I ordered this. The customer service agent first blamed UPS (who doesn't even have the package yet) and then just seemed irritated. They can't seem to give ANY indication as to when I might expect to receive my order. A week? Two weeks? Two months? Who knows.

I subscribed under the 3-for-1 deal they were offering, and I'd really like to receive it. I understand they were probably slammed with orders, but it's frustrating when about every other day I get a sales promotion from them trying to generate more sales when they can't even send out the ones they have now. If you can't handle what you got, slow down! Really, one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.

Company Response from Try The World

      Hi Krissy,

We are terribly sorry for the miscommunication regarding your shipment and tracking information. It looks like a new order was submitted for your three boxes and UPS tracking number 1Z1YY6320316155865 shows they were delivered on Thursday, 01/12/2017. If you did not receive these boxes, please let us know! We sincerely apologize for the delay and frustration regarding this.

We will be looking into why this happened at our fulfillment center to avoid it in the future. We can always be reached at 855-841-0303, once again we are very sorry about this.

Terrible snacks and waste of money

    • New Canaan, CT,
    • Jan 20, 2017
    • Verified Reviewer

I only got the Snack Box because there was a coupon that made my first order only $4, and I selected only one box to be sent to me. However, they continued taking my money and sending them (total of two boxes!) even though I tried to cancel a few times.

Anyways, the actual snacks tasted TERRIBLE. It was often chocolate that tasted off or breaded goods that were dry and kind of stale. I really did not enjoy a single thing in any of the boxes. I honestly thought some of the products tasted spoiled or disgusting and it took a while for my mouth to get the taste out.

Honestly, the selection is not really food around the world, but more packaged stuffed you could get at the checkout at a Michaels or T.J. Maxx for less.

    Shipping and fraudulent charges

    • Apr 19, 2017
    • Verified Reviewer

I paid for a six-month subscription and only received four boxes. I was informed that my March box is going to be shipped and it is still the middle of April and I have no box.

I was informed I should be receiving a tracking number in a few days. I asked when I will get my last box, since I canceled my subscription and only received four boxes, and was informed that I am done.

This company is ripping people off. Please, do not use them. It is a great concept, but the company is unreliable.

Company Response from Try The World

      Hi Jenn,

We sincerely apologize for the delay with your March box. Typically boxes take up to 14 days to ship, but this past month we had an issue with a few of the products being held by the FDA. They have been approved and released, so your box should now be shipping out to you. As soon as it leaves our facility, you'll receive an email with the tracking number. If you would like to write to one of our team members at sayhello@trytheworld.com, we would be happy to look into your order to make sure you receive all of your subscription boxes.

We sincerely appreciate your patience with your March order and thank you for your understanding!

      Best,

    Worst subscription service ever

    • Niagara, Ontario, Canada,
    • Apr 22, 2017

I purchased the Try the World for my husband as a gift on the 3-month auto-renewal plan. He received his first two boxes (one was a bonus for purchasing a subscription) immediately. He received the next month's box and then nothing for three months and counting!

The first time I reached out to try the world, I received no response. The second time, I received a response with a bunch of excuses and a promise that my box would be ready within the week and I would receive an email with shipping confirmation. That was April 10th. It's now April 21st, and I still have nothing!

I just contacted them again to cancel my subscription and provide a refund. Buyer beware!

Company Response from Try The World

      Hi Shannon,

We sincerely apologize for the delay with your Belgium box. Just like our Customer Experience Team member Amanda wrote in her last email to you, we had major delays with the Belgium boxes. As of April 18th, your box is now processing and is on its way to you!

We also apologize that you never received your India box. According to our Canadian tracking records, your package was delivered on February 24th. Since you never received your India box or Morocco box and your Belgium box was shipped with a significant delay, we will go ahead and process your refund for the Morocco, India and Belgium box. We have canceled your subscription, effective immediately. Since your Belgium box has already shipped, you are set to receive that box. We will also process your refund for April since we have canceled your account before April's box shipping.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

      Best,

Try the World Customer Experience Team

    Nightmare customer service!

    • May 2, 2017
    • Verified Reviewer

I placed my order for two snack boxes April 1st, and here it is May 1st, and I have no tracking number and no boxes.

Support has completed ignored my emails via Facebook and Twitter. They have been posting frequently on their social media pages, but have ignored my attempts to reach out to them for help. They have been deleting messages in the comment section via Facebook (you can go check the recent comment section to see for yourself).

They don't even answer their phone at this point. Either give me my money back or ship the darn boxes!

Company Response from Try The World

      Hi Ebonee,

Thank you for reaching out, we wanted to follow up with you regarding your April snack purchases. It looks like your box is set to arrive today when I check on the tracking status of your box. You should have received an email with a tracking number on May 2nd when the box left our warehouse. We do apologize for the delay with your April snack boxes, but we were experiencing some delays with our small-scale producers. There was additional time required to manufacture and ship the adequate quantity.

Additionally, we have responded to your many emails sent from different addresses throughout the month of April. Luis, Greg, Amanda, Amanda N., Annie, and Felicia happily provided you with updates on the tracking of your shipment when you emailed our customer experience account.

We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

Service is horrible. I paid for six boxes as a gift (12 months, every other month). The recipient only received four total. Items and packaging are fine, but if you never get what you pay for, then the quality of the actual product is worthless.

    Exhausted customer

I ordered a year-long subscription. The actual boxes are amazing, and I'm thrilled when I get them, more like IF I get them.

As many customers have mentioned, the Try The World transitioning locations have created numerous customer service issues. Unfortunately, my troubles with the business have started months prior to this company-wide problem. I constantly would receive boxes late. However, when I would email at sayhello@trytheworld.com, I would "magically" get the box within 5 days. Why is it I have to complain in order to receive the service I paid for?

As for the "moving locations" issue, where do I begin? I have contacted the company multiple times to state that I have not received my boxes. In late September, I mentioned I hadn't received both my August and September boxes. I JUST received my August box, and it's October 18th. What the heck?!

I am so exhausted with having to jump through hoops and constantly nag the company to follow through on the minimum expectations. I would highly discourage anyone to buy a subscription. Your life will be full of tasty treats paired with constant anxiety.

Company Response from Try The World

      Hi Anna,

We sincerely apologize for any disappointment we have caused you. Our warehouse transition, unfortunately, is taking longer than expected, however, we are working harder than ever to get these boxes out to our customers. We will be shipping all of the delayed boxes and the subscription will go back to a monthly basis once we are caught up. We will ensure that we get your boxes to you, we just ask for your patience during this difficult move. Again, apologies for this frustration.

Went downhill fast, don't waste your money

I've been a Try The World subscriber for two years, have given many boxes as gifts, and bought items from the shop several times. They used to be great, but they stopped shipping boxes on time in June 2017 and have been claiming the delay is due to a warehouse move since August. They're still accepting new subscribers and outright lie about shipping times if you email them directly. They also recently changed to less secure packaging, so items are now arriving broken.

Company Response from Try The World

      Hi Sarah,

We sincerely apologize for the issues we have caused. Our warehouse transition, unfortunately, is taking longer than expected. This transition has caused some bumps along the way, but we will be shipping all of the delayed boxes and getting back on track. We are hoping that with this new warehouse, we will no longer experience delays or issues in the future as well. Again, apologies.

      Best,

The Customer Experience Team and Try The World
