About Venus Factor
If you’re looking for healthy, effective weight loss, you may have seen an ad or read a review about Venus Factor. This female-specific, 12-week nutrition plan is claimed to be the first and only step-by-step program that boosts your metabolism and that leads to fast, sustainable weight loss (exactly how it accomplishes this is somewhat of a mystery, as we’ll explore further in the Bottom Line section).
But is there any truth to these claims? Let’s shed some weight and find out.
Quick Facts About Venus Factor
At its most basic, the Venus Factor program claims to help women lose weight by increasing the production of leptin, a “master” hormone responsible for metabolism—in other words, the more leptin you have the higher your metabolism will be, and the less leptin you have the slower your metabolism will be. Unfortunately, women face two unique challenges when it comes to this hormone:
- First, women have twice the amount of leptin as men, although they’re three times less responsive to its presence (a condition known as leptin resistance). Ultimately, this means there is an enormous amount of untapped weight loss potential inside each woman.
- Second, when they diet, women’s leptin levels drop twice as fast and twice as much as men, which often results in a rebound effect, where you put on more after you’ve finished a diet than when you began.
In fact, these issues can actually become worse after pregnancy, as your body adjusts to its new role as a mother. However, the Venus Factor program claims to reset how your body uses leptin, which they call a “metabolic override,” and to be proven to help you lose at least 10 pounds over the course of 12 weeks.
By working with your metabolism and helping you to avoid common foods that can make it “impossible” for you to shed pounds, Venus Factor claims to take advantage of female fat loss “loopholes” to increase energy, safely boost metabolism around the clock, and to target female problem areas such as the stomach, hips, butt, and thighs.
On top of this, the Venus Factor claims to allow you to enjoy your favorite foods, to make the process simple and enjoyable, and to work for anyone regardless of time, current metabolism level, or other medical conditions.

What Do Other Consumers Have to Say About Venus Factor?
The Venus Factor was created by nutritionist John Barban, who claims that he formulated the program in order to help his sister lose weight after the birth of her son. However, the company is not rated with the Better Business Bureau, which could be explained by the fact that its URL was recently registered in June 2013.
Locating online customer reviews about the program was relatively difficult due to the numerous affiliate sites attempting to sell the program. However, those we were able to locate appeared to be primarily positive, with the most common complaints citing failure to work and low caloric intake.
What’s the Bottom Line About Venus Factor?
Like any diet or exercise program, losing weight takes equal amounts dedication, nutritious foods, and physical activity, and the Venus Factor is no different. In fact, the product’s website even specifically states, “User results seen are not typical. They are a result of hard work and dedication to this unique plan which is required to lose fat.”
While most of the Venus Factor user reviews we encountered were positive, there were several that claimed the low caloric intake can take a toll on your body, including drastically increasing cravings for unhealthy foods, and perpetually low energy levels. However, similar to New You in 22, the Venus Factor program allows you to eat the foods you crave, but only at strategic times, which is claimed to further boost your metabolism.
With this in mind, it’s not made clear anywhere on the program’s website exactly how Venus Factor works, what you’ll be doing to lose weight, or how your leptin resistance will be reduced. While it appears to entail a combination of DVD-based fitness exercises and carefully orchestrated meal plans, it was only by investigating the program elsewhere online that we learned that you’ll be—perhaps severely—restricting your calorie intake. In our experience, it’s not a good sign when a company doesn’t give you a very clear understanding of the product you’re purchasing in advance.
Next, it’s widely known that leptin supplements don’t help you lose weight, as they’re unable to pass the blood/brain barrier. However, leptin diets like Venus Factor remain unsubstantiated via clinical studies.
Finally, we read several user reviews that claimed they received a lot of spam email after purchasing the program, which attempted to sell one supplement or another. As a result, you may want to enter an email address that you rarely use.

Supporting Android app non-existent
I ordered this downloadable program and attempted to download it, but the supporting app was no longer in the play store. They never gave me an explanation as to why. I felt scammed and expressed this, but no apologies.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
