About Viva Labs Krill Oil

What if you were told that a single nutritional supplement could help reduce bad cholesterol, increase energy, boost metabolism, and improve joint function? Viva Labs’ 100% pure cold pressed Antarctic krill oil claims to accomplish all this and more, and to be a “stronger, more effective” method of obtaining Omega 3s than standard fish oil. In fact, Viva Labs Krill Oil claims to be “the most powerful Omega 3 known on earth.”

But what do the facts say? Let’s dive in and take a closer look.

Quick Facts About Viva Labs Krill Oil

Krill are small crustaceans found throughout the world’s oceans that play an integral role at the bottom of the food change. Due to their diet, this tiny, shrimp-like creature is packed with very high levels of the Omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA. In addition, krill also contain high levels of the antioxidant Astaxanthin, which is what gives shrimp, salmon, and krill their unique pink color. With such high antioxidant and Omega 3 content, krill oil is claimed to provide the following benefits:

  • Neutralizes free radicals
  • Lowers bad cholesterol/triglyceride levels, and increases HDL (e.g. good) cholesterol levels
  • Improves brain health
  • Smoothes skin and reduces wrinkles
  • Decreases PMS-related symptoms
  • Lowers the risk of coronary heart disease
  • Increases energy and metabolism
  • Improves joint function and eye health

With this in mind, Viva Labs claims to harvest their krill from the pure waters of the Antarctic Ocean, and to immediately process them as soon as they’re sustainably harvested. Then, the company claims to use their proprietary capliques™ technique to seal in the freshness, to provide an advanced delivery system for maximum absorption, and to avoid any “fishy” smell or aftertaste.

Viva Labs Krill Oil is claimed to have been scientifically formulated over the course of several years, and to provide the highest levels of DHA and EPA in each serving. In addition, the company claims their Krill Oil is independently tested for potency, as well as for impurities such as mercury and PCBs, and to be processed without fillers or binders. According to the label on the product’s website, Viva Labs Krill Oil contains the following ingredients:

  • Omega 3 Fatty Acids 300mg
  • Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) 165mg
  • Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) 95mg
  • Phospholipids 500mg

Viva Labs Krill Oil is claimed to be safe for people of all ages and lifestyles, regardless of current medications, and can even be used as a nutritional supplement for your dog, similar to DOGgeviti. However, it may result in diarrhea or loose stools, in addition to mild gastrointestinal upset.

By taking 2 capsules daily with food, Viva Labs Krill Oil claims that you may experience positive results in as little as a few days, though blood changes will take 1-3 months to achieve.

What Do Other Consumers Have to Say About Viva Labs Krill Oil?

Viva Labs Krill Oil is manufactured by Viva Labs Inc. based out of Louisville, KY, which holds an F rating with the Better Business Bureau, despite only having one closed complaint over the past three years. However, it doesn’t appear that the company ever responded to the complaint, which might explain their very low rating.

During our research, we learned that the product’s URL was originally registered in 2000, although it appears to have been purchased from the Everest Corporation sometime in 2013.

Nearly all legitimate online customer reviews we encountered were through Amazon, most of which were overwhelmingly positive. However, some of the most common complaints included damaged capsules upon arrival, upset stomach/indigestion, failure to experience results, and price.

What’s the Bottom Line About Viva Labs Krill Oil?

Omega 3 became especially popular after being featured on the Dr. Oz daytime TV show in 2010, during which he recommended taking 600-1,000mg of DHA and EPA each day. Viva Labs Krill Oil provides 600mg per day, which is on the lower end of the spectrum but is in line with much of the competition, including Whole Body Antarctic Krill Oil.

However, keep in mind that according to WebMD, while Omega 3s have been shown to provide a wide range of benefits, krill oil specifically requires much more evidence in order to rate its overall effectiveness. Despite this, online customer reviews for Viva Labs Krill Oil appear to be overwhelmingly positive, although some common complaints include damaged capsules upon arrival, upset stomach/indigestion, failure to experience results, and price.

So what’s the bottom line about Viva Labs Krill Oil? In this instance, even though more clinical evidence is needed about krill oil in general, it appears that customers who’ve used the supplement were overwhelmingly pleased with the results, and this may be the case for you as well.

What’s your experience with Viva Labs Krill Oil? Did you experience any positive benefits? Tell the world about it by writing a review.

    Krill Oil is Great

I have been using the Viva Labs Krill Oil for 1 1/2 months now. I am not experiencing any side affects, my memory seems somewhat better and only have to take 2 a day at breakfast which is a big plus. I hate taking 4 to 6 giant fish oil capsules. I have recommended it to my sister in law who is having memory problems and anxious to see if it helps her. I have a high LDL and plan to have my lipids done at 3 months to see if there is improvement. All in all I give it a 4.5 rating out of 5. I took advantage of buying 4 and getting 2 free and split them with my sister in law. Saved $10 on each bottle.

    Abysmal customer service

I have ordered twice from Viva Labs now and each time my order has been delayed over a week, without any notification. When I complained I had no apologies or efforts to rectify. They are one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I will never use them or recommend to anybody.

I can't testify to the tablets efficacy, but even if they were the best on the market, I would buy elsewhere.

My knee & shoulder was hurting, since taken krill oil the mild pain has completely gone away. Been taking it for about four years, seems to start working pretty quick. I'm a 59 year old commercial fisherman and going strong.
