About Wall Restore
Wall Restore claims to be the quick and easy way to repair holes left in your walls due to hanging pictures, art, decorations, or just from normal wear and tear, without having to mix spackling or break out the putty knife. On top of this, Wall Restore is claimed to be easily sandable, paintable, and stainable, so the repairs you’ll make can be completed in minutes and will be virtually invisible.
According to the manufacturer, Wall Restore works whether you live in an apartment or a home, and is perfect for small holes, dents, and scratches in almost any surface, from drywall and plaster to wood.
Despite its hole-hiding power, Wall Restore is claimed to work over 3 simple steps:
- Twist the grooved wheel at the bottom of your Wall Restore bottle.
- Apply Wall Restore to the hole in need of repair.
- Allow it to dry, and then sand, paint, or stain as necessary.
You like your home to look its best, but the reality is that you’re no handyman or woman, so you can forget about mixing spackling, using a putty knife—along with everything else involved in the process. But can Wall Restore help you cover those small unsightly holes, without all the fuss and muss that comes with it? Consider the following:
What Exactly is Wall Restore?
While there isn’t an explanation as to precisely what Wall Restore is or the ingredients it contains, the product appears to be some sort of “putty-on-a-stick.” Well, perhaps not a stick, so much as some kind of applicator that looks like roll-on deodorant.
Regardless of what it is or how it’s applied though, can you expect Wall Restore to work as well as it claims?
Is Wall Restore As Easy to Use As the Manufacturer Claims?
Once again, without knowing exactly what Wall Restore contains or reading any online reviews about the product (more about this in a moment), it’s all but impossible to discern whether or not it will work as advertised.
Although it may be obvious, it’s important to point out here that Wall Restore will have to be smoothed or textured after it’s applied, depending on the surface it’s applied to, followed by painting or staining. We bring this up because you might be led to believe that Wall Restore is simply added to the surface, and it magically matches the color or stain of the wall.
From this aspect at least, Wall Restore seems almost identical to what you’d be required to do with traditional putty or spackling.
Are There Any Products Similar to Wall Restore?
While we’ve got to admit that Wall Restore’s deodorant-looking application method is unique, keep in mind that there are dozens upon dozens of easy, do-it-yourself drywall repair kits available from other manufacturers. And whether you’re shopping online or at your local home improvement store, nearly all of these are less expensive than Wall Restore, especially considering its very high S&H charges (more about this in the Pricing section).
Are Customers Happy with Wall Restore’s Performance?
Wall Restore is a very new product, and didn’t have any online customer reviews available at the time of our research.
However, Wall Restore is manufactured by Spark Innovators, a relative newcomer to the “As Seen on TV” industry, who also makes several other popular ASOTV products such as InVinceable and Engrave-It Pro. Among 25 HighYa reader reviews for InVinceable, the product has a 2-star rating, with common complaints citing failure to work as advertised, high-pressure sales tactics during phone calls, difficulty processing/cancelling orders, and high S&H charges.
Despite this, Spark Innovators holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, with just 4 closed complaints (as of 2/17/15).
Wall Restore Pricing & Refund Policy
2 bottles of Wall Restore are priced at $10 plus $13.98 S&H (yes, you read that right!).
Important note: When checking out, there is a dropdown box that asks how many Wall Restores you would like. Keep in mind that this references the number of buy one, get one free offers you’d like—not the number of individual Wall Restore bottles.
This references the number of BOGO offers you’d like to order, not the number of individual Wall Restore bottles you want.
All Wall Restore purchases come with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. This means you might lose twice as much in S&H charges as you’ll receive as a refund if you’re dissatisfied.
With this said, in order to request a refund you’ll need to contact customer service at 866-322-6481.
Will Wall Restore Save You Time & Hassle?
Chopping to the point: Because Wall Restore still has to be sanded and painted just like traditional spackling or putty, the only real advantage that it seems to provide is easy application.
With this said, there are dozens of easy-on drywall repair kits available through hardware and home improvement stores near you, many of which are priced much lower than Wall Restore. And if you’re dissatisfied with these other options, you’ll be able to save a decent chunk of change on S&H charges, and potentially save yourself a frustrating customer service experience.
