About Zip Knee
Zip knee is a compression knee wrap that’s claimed to easily slide over your knee and zip into place, and to provide instant relief from your knee aches and pains. On top of this, Zip Knee’s lightweight and washable neoprene construction is claimed to provide it with 4-way stretch that can offer you stronger compression and better circulation for reduced swelling.
In order to use Zip Knee, the manufacturer claims that, after sliding the knee wrap over your knee, you simply zip up the section on the side of your leg, and fasten the Velcro strap at the top in order to help keep it in place. The Zip Knee is claimed to be so discreet under your clothes that no one will know you’re wearing it, and that by reflecting your body’s heat, it will help you achieve a comfortable night’s sleep.
You know your body’s growing older, but you still want to spend time doing the things you love. After all, you’ve got a lot of living left to do! But can the Zip Knee wrap help you accomplish this? Consider the following:
Will Zip Knee’s Compression Help Reduce Your Swelling?
In short, possibly. This is because, as we mentioned in our Guide to Buying Compression Wear, these types of garments can help reduce swelling and some pain by compressing a specific area, which can then increase blood flow and circulation to the region.
However, since it’s a basic neoprene sleeve, there’s no indication as to the level of compression Zip Knee provides, which may not be adequate, depending on your condition. As such, if you’re suffering from constant knee pain, you’ll want to speak with your physician about possibly using prescription-grade compression wear based on your diagnosis.
Outside of Compression, Do Knee Sleeves Like Zip Knee Provide Any Other Benefits?
In some instances, yes. According to BreakingMuscle.com, neoprene knee sleeves can “add warmth, limit patella movement, and can increase proprioception (the capacity to feel the position of a joint in space as sensed by the central nervous system).” However, although knee sleeves may provide some benefits outside of compression, the article goes on to state that they are not intended to provide support for unstable knees. In other words, if the problem with your knee isn’t pain but is instability, then Zip Knee may not be for you.
Regarding warmth, the Zip Knee website claims that the wrap can reflect body heat for a better night’s sleep, but doesn’t explain how this will make you sleep better. In our experience, neoprene is not a breathable material, so we’d wonder how hot the Zip Know would make you at night, and whether this would be severe enough to make you take it off.
Mind Your Options
Alright, so we’ve established that neoprene sleeves can help reduce swelling and pain in some instances. However, keep in mind that any neoprene sleeve can accomplish this, not just Zip Knee.
Granted, they may not come with zippers, but neoprene sleeves can be purchased at just about any pharmacy or big box retailer, often for much less money than the Zip Knee.
Are Other Consumers Finding Relief with the Zip Knee?
Although the Zip Knee is a very new product and didn’t have any online consumer reviews available at the time of our research, the wrap is manufactured by Telebrands based out of Fairfield, NJ, who is considered one of the largest “As Seen on TV” companies in the industry. As such, the company is responsible for a variety of other popular ASOTV products, including Grassology, Pocket Hose Ultra, Wow Cup, and many more.
Based on nearly 200 HighYa reader reviews for these products, they have an average rating of 2 stars, with some of the most common complaints referencing poor quality products that don’t work as advertised, difficulty processing refunds, and poor customer service.
Zip Knee Pricing & Refund Policy
Zip Knee is available in 2 sizes: small/medium and large/extra large, and is priced at $10 plus $6.99. However, you’ll also be able to choose a second Zip Knee for an additional $6.99.
Zip Knee comes with a 30-day refund policy, less S&H charges. And considering the fact that if you choose to purchase a second wrap, you’ll be spending almost 30% more than the cost of the product itself in S&H charges, you stand to lose a lot of money if you’re dissatisfied. And this is even before factoring in what it’ll cost to ship your Zip Knees back to the manufacturer.
With this in mind, if you’d like to begin the refund process, you’ll need to contact customer service at 855-668-1655.
Can Zip Knee Help You Get Back to Life?
Chopping to the Point: Minus the zipper, you can almost certainly find a wide variety of neoprene knee sleeves similar to Zip Knee at local retailers, often for less money. And while they may be a little more difficult to put on, you’ll have to decide if the $15+ you stand to lose in S&H charges for the Zip Knee is worth taking the risk.
