Works but not like they say

By Mitch , Ocala FL

My neighbor bought it and gets 9 channels but his house faces north. I bought it and got 2 so I bought a booster and got 6 but my house faces south. I then bought an outdoor antenna and put it up about 26 feet and I get over 50 channels and only paid $30 on newegg.com, with Clear TV and the booster cost me $35. Although I did have the poles to put the antenna up so it would have cost me about $90 but well worth it. So Clear TV does work but depends on your location and direction.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Tried Clear TV and Ztube.tv is better for rural areas.

By Peter Chang , Denver, CO

I tried Clear TV and it worked great. The only issue was when a truck would pass by my house the static would interrupt the signal. Just bought me a Ztube from www.ztube.tv. The product seems to be the better product but more expensive. I live in a rural area and the Ztube picked up twice as many channels.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Difference Between an ATSC Tuner and an Antenna

By The_Inspector_069 , Belleville, IL

Re: Problem Number 3: Why You May Not Need Clear TV TV sets manufactured after 2008 are required by the government to include a built-in HD antenna (also called an ATSC tuner), which performs the exact same function as Clear TV.

Let it be known, an ATSC tuner is not an antenna. A ATSC Tuner captures Digital Channels, where an NTSC (VHF/UHF) Tuner pulled in Analog Channels. You will still need to connect an external antenna to that ATSC tuner. My recommendation is to purchase an amplified antenna. Especially for those that reside in a rural area. Even a pair of the tradition rabbit ears can be used to pull in those digital channels clearly if you are within city limits.

I would not buy Clear TV, because you will have to buy an amplifier if you want to pull in all the available channels in your area. There are many amplified rabbit ears on the market. If you want to go the extra step, I would suggest purchasing an outside antenna that you would install on a roof top, or the side of the house.

Remember in many markets the major networks, CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, offer sub channels. For example, channel 4.0 is the CBS in my area, but the also offer 4.1 which is a sub station. That station is named MeTV, MeTV is also the same station I received from my former cable provider. ION would be another station that is available over the air. And don't forget, these stations are broadcasting their audio signal in Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus.

In closing, I enjoy my OTA (Over the Air) programming. I save 100 + a month. I will never return to paying for TV.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Works OK for what it is.

By Jatmush ,

It works OK but I built an antenna for $10 using plans I found online and I receive more channels. Also, people who claim they were ripped off because they now don't get their cable channels for free are just not understanding the whole idea. There's a reason it's called PAY TV.

Just way over hyped

By Pepper , Iowa

Clear TV actually works like most other digital antennas. It will bring in local over the air broadcasts. If you're just looking to add local broadcasts to your TV, then it works. If you think it will replace cable of satellite service you'll be disappointed. The question of would I recommend this to a friend would depend on what the friend was looking for. What's really wrong with this product is the misleading advertising.

Clear TV digital antenna

By Ricky Sampayo , Rahway, New Jersey

The HD aspect of it is great. The channels that come in HD are very clear and I see all details. For some reason I cannot get ABC, PBS and a couple others. I get CBS, NBC and Fox plus many other channels. I really like PBS and I know there are good shows on ABC. I'd be much happier if it received these channels too. Considering that I bought it at Walgreens' for $15 plus tax, it's not so bad.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Point Number #3

By TJ ,

I won't defend or attack Clear TV, it works decently enough compared to other antennas of its kind, or to what a handy person can build with a YouTube video. (I've used both alone and in Tandem and while Clear TV looks better I actually give the edge to a YouTube special).

But I have to call BS on Our Reviewer and Point Number three:

An ATSC TUNER is NOT a built in antenna. Yes all TVs after 2007/08 needed an ATSC Tuner due to the 2009 Digital conversion but that TUNER is not a substitute for an antenna. Unless your Home Physically falls under the shadow of a Broadcast Tower, you need something attached to the CoAx Jack on your TV, otherwise why haven't they phased out the CoAx Jack on TVs in the last 8 years.

About Clear TV

By Diane Phillips, Delaware, Verified Reviewer

I think clear TV is good when you can't afford the high cable bill. However, I don't like that sometimes you get no channels at all. Overall, this antenna is ok and I tell others about it. It doesn't deserve 5 stars though.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
