I have used Just For Men dyes for years now, from the old mixing in the bottle method to the comb-through dye. Control GX I have only been using for a few weeks now.

After a recent haircut where a lot of gray hair was exposed, I used Control GX only to notice a slight difference, compared to using the comb-through dye. On the second application of Control GX, I noticed a further difference, and believe that continued use will reduce the gray that I am so paranoid about. I am 57 by the way.

I would suggest that disposable gloves are worn as my fingernails and palms of my hands are stained.

I’ve been using this product for years and it was great. Why have they changed the formula? It’s terrible and it will turn your hair to an unnatural orange color! Sadly, I’m going to have to stop using it. I hope they change the formula back!

I have used this for over 4 years and the new formula turns hair orange. Please don't use this product, unless you want to look like an Oompa Loompa.

Just For Men, please revert back to the original formula or lose all your clients.

Been using Control GX for 6 or more years, was pleased with results.

However, the "new formula" is dreadful, don't buy it, unless you want an orange/copper look.

I'm quickly looking for an alternative.

A company-ruining decision was made right there.

Like others, I have been using this for years and was really impressed with the results. I have dark hair and grey around the sides so just used it for blending really.

Straightway noticed a different color of foam in the hair, sort of a red plum color, unlike the previous black. The box also now says this is for any shade of hair, whereas before you could get a version for dark hair. It doesn't work and I have left it on for longer than with the original formula, and yes, even my dark hair is getting a yellow golden tinge to it!

Don't get it. I can't find the original product for sale anywhere and the box design has changed several times since the new product was introduced, by the looks of it, I guess due to complaints to throw people off the scent. Bring back the original version or I think there may be a class action on the horizon!

I have used this product for years and have loved it, but it seems like the manufacturer has changed the formula and my hair now has a "piss yellow" tinge to it.

So disappointing because this product was once really great.

Please bring back the old formula.

Why would you change such a brilliant formula? I have used this product for years and have been very happy with it. The new color is just awful — it's somewhere between orange and ginger. Please bring back the original formula as until then I'm not buying anymore and I'd rather be gray.

Change of formula, now does not produce your original color. Makes your hair ginger. See lots of other comments. Worked well before. Please change it back to the previous recipe.

New formula is not working. I have been using Control GX over 2 years. A few months ago you changed the formula, no more dark water during rinsing, which is good but not changing the grey hair to dark.

I will look for other products.

The new formula is ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH since it changes the color of the hair to ginger. Waste of money and time with embarrassing results.

Switch back to the old formula.

Totally agree with all the other posts — hair turned ginger orange and used it yesterday and my forehead and neck now have red sore blotches and an itchy scalp! Never again!

WARNING.

I was happy to read so many success stories, but mine is not one. Everything about the product ads was true except the results. My attempt was not to rid gray but to get an even color of gray. However, the product turned my hair a horrible Fluorescent Blue in only two applications. I had no problem with staining of the shower or myself, but I did follow instructions. I loved the texture (body) and shine on the first application, but all went downhill after that.

I have been in hiding now for about a week, and blue is slowly getting grayer gradually. The ad sounded like a perfect option to even my uneven gray hair, and I have never done anything to my hair past. Terrible experience for me. Just please be aware if you chose to use this product.

I can only describe the new color or my hair as orange/grey since the new formula came in to the market!

What was the problem with the old one that we all liked; does the consumer have a say? Am I missing something, should the orange be the new grey for older men and be cool about this? Does the company that makes Control GX read and take notes of the unhappiness that it causes to us consumers?

Like everybody else on this forum, I've been a long-time user of Control GX with great results initially. However, since January 2021 I started to notice the new formula has begun to turn my hair ginger.

I wrote to the company and they dismissed my claims. Have since stopped using it. Avoid unless you want to have orange hair.

Been using this product for a few years and always had a great effect. Since late last year, I notice the familiar purple water no longer appears when I wash my hair and the darkening effect has been replaced with an orange tint. I thought I'd gotten a bad batch and tried another one from another shop but the results were the same! My hair now looks completely fake and it's frankly embarrassing. I'm going to have to stop using it. Have they changed the formula or something? And if so, why!?

I used this product and noticed hair loss and not good hair covering of grey. I used it as instructed and maybe I'm sensitive. I have used Just For Men hair coloring and have no problems. I would advise to be careful and let others know of problems.

This product is not for African American people because I tried it for a few weeks and it doesn't really work for me. Maybe I should leave it in a little bit longer, I don't really know, but I don't think that I would buy this again.

I used it as at my step-father's house while showering there, and became interested in the product (but no noticeable results after that one use). I used it every day for 5-6 days, and my mostly salt with pepper hair went back to salt and pepper. It was gradual enough that my family (wife/kids) didn't notice this gradual change in darkness. I finally fessed up to my family, and they realized the change. My hair was previously black, and it has darkened mostly to my natural hair color, perhaps a bit more dark brown. The top of my head in particular darkened up, with the sides still having enough "salt" that it looks very natural. I've stopped after about 8-9 applications, as I want a still more natural salt and pepper - and have just changed the salt to more pepper.

Two issues: Firstly, I did notice a slight change in hue of my white hair. Due to the contrast in my black hair, the white was always very brilliant looking. It now looks more dull, or perhaps a slight blue hue that I've seen on other reviews. Definitely not a blue hair though. Also, when I was using it intensively for 5-6 days straight, it made my head itchy, so I stopped for a few days. Then I proceeded for 2-3 more treatments, and that kept my head at a more natural and gradual dye job.

I'm waiting to meet up with a close buddy I haven't seen in about a month to see if he will notice...Very natural and gradual, well within your control to see how dark you can go. My wife (who loves my white hair) has encouraged me to keep going!

I have used Control GX since it was launched, even my hairdresser was impressed by it, it was perfect!

Now it is terrible. It will turn your white/grey hair orange! Do not use it!

What have they done to this shampoo, as I have ended up with a light ginger color? The old formula worked fine and I had used it for a few years. I purchased the current shampoo about 2 months ago. Don't they test this on people before it goes on sale? Avoid at all costs, unless you like being a ginger.

No longer does what it says — the images on their website are hilarious. Turns an orangey color and under light, your hair looks like it's had a purple rinse. Idiots! Why change something that worked?! Progress? Nope!

GX Shampoo from Just For Men is really good. I used it three times already and less than a month, and it makes me look real good. I will buy nothing else. It's about time they come out for something for men; I hate looking old.

Like many, I loved this product for a couple of years and had it perfectly tailored to my needs. But since they have changed it to this orange color, it just turns my hair a burnt orange/brown. It has left me embarrassed and stressed, not to mention buying a second as I thought the first was a faulty one. I first bought the 118 ml, then saw these reviews and sought out a 147 ml, but it's the same, so it's clearly the new formula that is way off. I can only say to believe the reviews and don't buy any thinking it will be ok. JFM needs to sack whoever decides on these changes, change it back, clowns, or face a product recall or worse. Absolutely shocking treatment of people's trust.
