Curology

By E S., Georgia, Verified Reviewer

I have been using it for a few weeks. I haven't noticed any change, and it also burns my skin sometimes. The smell is pretty gross. It's not the worst, but it definitely made me nauseous a couple of times.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Sorry to hear that! Understand that it can take time for the prescription medication to begin working. Reach out to your Curology provider and he/she will happy to help offer advice to ensure your skin is on track. We avoid adding any fragrance to our medication, as many people can be sensitive to the additional ingredients involved.

A very small percentage of members find the medication to have a slight scent. If you find this to be a bother, it might help to apply a non-comedogenic fragrant moisturizer shortly after applying your prescription, or you can try mixing your prescription with your moisturizer before application.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email us at support@curology.com.

Too soon to tell

By Chao B., Texas, Verified Reviewer

I got my first trial tube within a week of signing up, and I was happy about that. I was made to understand the tube was to last a month, let's just say pushing it to three weeks will be a miracle. Mine lasted two weeks exactly, despite trying to use an amount small enough. I hate the packaging because you can't open the tube which means if there is any product left at the bottom, you will never be able to get to it.

In the two weeks of trying it, I didn't see any changes, I am still getting painful pimples. I'm going to wait to see what the next tube looks like. If it's the same size as the trial, I shall swiftly revert to Proactiv. To each their own though. You go ahead and try it for yourself.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Didn't work

By Ann D., Texas, Verified Reviewer

My skin had started to improve for a month or two, and then it really stopped reacting to the formulas. My skin got worse. My skin looks a lot worse now than it did a year ago right before I even started Curology back in October 2017. I would advise that Curology focus more on helping people to find the root cause of their acne. And letting people know that this along with diet and dealing with the root cause is the only way to "cure" acne. I just wish there was more attention focused to naturally solving the acne, but I understand Curology is a business and needs to make money off of their product rather than give advice to naturally heal the skin. I had high hopes for this, and I know most people do. But Curology did not work, just like every other topical/cleanser/etc. never has.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Seven months results

By Rachael N., Georgia, Verified Reviewer

I tested Curology for 7 months (1 trial bottle, 2 of the 1-month supply, and 3 of the 2-month supply). One of those bottles made my acne better. The consistency of the medication in each bottle and the results produced were noticeably inconsistent. The website and info provided are very well set up. I believe I do need those ingredients I was prescribed, but am not receiving them from Curology (even though it says on the bottle and I'm paying for it). This is a very clever scam as some individuals will gloss over the inconsistency in hopes of clearer acne. It's like cutting vodka with water.

Suggestion: Do the free/cheap trial and then cancel. It is helpful to go through the questionnaire and see what you need. They also provide a lot of information about skin care/make-up. If you need adapalene or doxycycline and have insurance, just ask your doctor for a prescription - you can probably get the generic for way cheaper. If you're allergic/have a bad reaction to those (like me), I still haven't found anything perfectly clearing, but salicylic acid works well enough for now.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not good, don't recommend

By Nati K., New York, Verified Reviewer

Honestly, the first week I felt pretty good about it, confident that it would work. Thankfully I took pictures before because about a week and a half after I started breaking out all over my forehead and I NEVER did. The only good thing about it was that my skin became less dry obviously because of the moisturizer. If you really are breaking out and don't know what to do, I would talk to a dermatologist that you know face to face.

Hi Nati,

I'm sorry to hear you did not see the results you were hoping for. Do know that as your skin clears out with prescription medication it can temporarily get worse before it gets better. If you encounter this we encourage you to reach out directly to your medical provider. He or she is on hand to help get your skin on track! A majority of our patients who stick with their formula find they see results within two to three months, so we encourage you to stick with it!

Didn’t work for me

By Tiffany S., Fond du Lac, WI, Verified Reviewer

I was on Curology for around eight months and never saw the results I wanted. I would put the cream on daily, but my skin didn’t change at all and even got worse. My dermatologist was very helpful and even changed my formula, but it still wasn’t working for me. The Curology team is wonderful, but it just didn’t work for my skin and I wish it did. I’ve read so many positive reviews, but unfortunately, it didn’t work for my skin even after going through a formula change. I believe it works for some people, just not everyone.

You think you're paying less but it's actually a scam

By Joel M., Texas, Verified Reviewer

I was skeptical with this website at first, but I said what the heck, maybe they're actually good. So I started my free trial, only $5 something for the shipping, so I made a custom cream and it said to take pictures of your face, shoulders, back, and chest so I thought they had for the body too (I specifically joined for body cream or something for body acne), but weirdly the cream is only for the face. They give you recommendations, which I liked, and they respond pretty quick if you had a question so props on that. Now, let's talk about the actual product since I needed it for my body I used it for my body, for some odd reason they told me not to use it on large areas but that seemed like a BS excuse...the bottle only lasted three days! So I guess that's why they told me not to use it for my body because you will notice that the bottle they give you is like a potato chip bag, it seems full but is only half the bottle, well I'm being too nice when I say half it's actually 1/4 of the bottle.

So that's the actual cream for acne, they give you two more things a moisturizer and a cleanser. So lets recap on what it brings: 1/4 of the cream (by the way, the bottle says 12 ml but it's only just two) for acne, 0.8 oz of moisturizer and 1.4 oz of the cleanser. I mean I paid 5 bucks, what will you expect, OH wait, that package is actually $30 a month, you only pay $5 for the shipping in the trial, so okay you can downgrade so that the 1/4 (2 ml) bottle cream only arrives and that's $24.90.

So, does it actually work? Maybe I only had it for three days and they say it clears in five to six weeks, so good luck on that. I have noticed it's slightly going away but for what I need it is a waste of money, even if you're going to use it on your face, I still won't recommend this. I'm not saying that because the cream doesn't work, it's because they're selling overpriced cream and falsely advertising the size of the bottle. So I would rate this from 0 through 10, 3/10 good website, good customer service but overpriced products, misleading customers, and they just seem straight up sketchy.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Hi Joel,

Thank you so much for reaching out and sharing your experience. Please know that Curology is not for use anywhere but the face and/or neck. While we're happy to offer non-prescription advice for body acne, our custom formula's are not designed to treat body acne concerns.

Any prescriptions prescribed by Curology are for use on the face/neck only. If you are using Curology on a larger surface area, please stop immediately.

When used as directed our bottles last a majority of patients a full 30 to 60 days (depending on their subscription plan). Our bottles are small, but with prescription medication, a little goes a long way! Each bottle contains 3 active ingredients chosen for your unique concerns.

If you have any questions about our service, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at support@curology.com. We're happy to help!

Cool concept but didn't work for me

By Elizabeth G., Miami, FL, Verified Reviewer

I really wanted this to work out. I’m a skincare junkie and I always find myself buying so many different masks, serums, face washes, etc., but struggled to find a solid routine I could employ consistently that didn’t trigger me to go out and buy something "better." With this mentality, I turned to Curology. The concept was very cool. I loved that my treatment was made for my skin and I had a "Curologist" that can help me along the way. I never grew up with acne and at 24, this was the first time that I experienced unexplained breakouts (very mild though) and crazy oily skin! I never felt like it was a big enough issue to go see a dermatologist but wanted to find a specialist who can figure out what I need so Curology seemed like a perfect fit. Unfortunately, I never saw results and my skin only got worse. Little whitehead pimples would appear constantly all over my face. It was explained as a "purging" of my skin so I kept using it for 2 months; my skin would periodically get back to how it was before Curology but it never actually improved my skin. Once I started noticing dark marks from all the pimples the Curology treatment developed, I decided to cancel my subscription. I think this product is not meant for people with mild acne.

Basic products for an expensive price

By Abby M., Milwaukee, WI, Verified Reviewer

I tried the trial version of Curology. I thought it was great at first...I liked the feedback from the medical health providers and I liked that you submitted selfies to show to your provider.

I used the products for two weeks and my skin did not improve at all. The products felt basic and didn’t feel good on my face. Additionally, they charged me another $61 for a subscription of Curology. I contacted customer service email (they don’t have a phone line) and no one responded to me. This company scammed me out of my hard-earned money.

Definitely would not recommend. Poor experience.

Where the HULK is my order.

By Genosidus , Texas, Verified Reviewer

Just wondering when I'll get mine, it's already been a week, and I need luscious skin, like right now. I'll wait another week but if I don't get anything, one of them all is lying. I posted this today, December 17, 2016. (11:12am). Dude, I swear if I get it in a month I'm going to be mad because they're going to charge for another one, because they are holding my card info.

I'm angry

By Veronika Bagriy, Illinois, Verified Reviewer

I got the trial version, and with the basic formulation (AZELAIC ACID, CLINDAMYCIN, NIACINAMIDE) they give most people, and I tried it for a month. I had decent acne on my forehead due to hormone imbalance from BC.

They warned me that it's going to get worse before it gets better. At first, it really did get worse. My skin texture got really weird with these tiny bumps literally everywhere on my face. I got really worried but decided to continue. Although the zits came down in size, they were still very persistent and would become really pushy. I continued the treatment that was supposed to help me also get rid of the dark spots left over from the acne. Well, guess what? The amount of zits that the medication "brought out" to try to "clear up" the acne actually made more dark spots and did not help them.

I decided to take a break after the month and came back to it a little later, and all the acne inflamed again. I decided to stop using it and went on a search to get serum and moisturizer to get rid of my spotted forehead. Mind you, I used my Teint Idole 24 hr Lancome foundation, which is full coverage and even two layers of it would not cover the dark spots completely. I bought Even Better Serum and the new Moisture Surge Gel to try to recover. Two weeks later everything cleared up and dark spots are fading.

Throughout this time, I was in a middle of a move and had a car accident. I tried contacting support only to get their voicemail box. I contacted my Curology "doctor," and she explained that there are no return or refunds. While I still have two more bottles of that formula sitting in their boxes untouched. And I know for a fact I'm not the only one with that formula. In fact, most people get the same "unique" formula when they sign up.

The point of the story is it's probably not a good idea to deal with this product or company.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
