My Aussie loves it...when I brought the box in and took a bag out she was very eager to have what was inside before the bag was open. She gobbles it up and gets excited now when I say, “Do you want your Dr. Marty’s now.” I feed her kibble in the morning and Dr. Marty’s for the evening meal.

Dancing duo

By Darlene J., Concord, CA, Verified Reviewer

I had 2 mini dachshunds. When they started eating Dr. Marty's they were apprehensive. It only took them 2 days to adjust after using it as a treat first. I only had to say Dr. Marty's and they danced. If I ran out unexpectedly they refused to eat dog food. When the delivery came they get super excited. I get new friends next week and I'm ordering it again. Yes. it's huge in comparison but my fur babies deserve the same quality of food as we do. Mine is not just a dog.

Length of Use: 2+ years

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

My dogs raved

It's not messy

It can be used as a training treat or snack

Cost

Slow delivery

It’s a miracle

By Libby C., Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

My boxer is 9 years old and has suffered with a belly issue since she was a puppy. Every time she eats she was having a hard time digesting and the next day she would have diarrhea and a gurgling stomach, which caused her pain no matter what I fed her. Until I tried Dr. Marty's Nature Blend freeze-dried food. She has had the best belly since. It truly is a miracle. Thank you Dr. M.

Length of Use: 1–2 years

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Easy to feed

Easy to digest

My dogs love the taste

Can’t buy it locally

Bigger bags would be nice

My 7-year-old Yorkie no longer needs the prescription diet recommended by the vet and is thriving!

By Kathy G. , Mahwah, NJ

My Yorkie is extremely picky and I was feeding Hunter a high-quality (and pricey) diet. He was having recurrent intestinal issues. The vet bill totals for 4 months alone were over $2,000.

The vet recommended Prilosec every day and a prescription dog food for intestinal issues. Only one company makes this “special” food and it is pricey! I avoided further costly vet visits; however, I didn’t think this diet was actually healthy and Hunter’s appetite was still off. (I also got an appetite stimulant, which was just somewhat helpful).

When I read the ingredients in the prescription dog food, I was dumbfounded, especially considering the cost. It contained water, pork and chicken by-products, to start with! (Not what I want to feed my dog!) I was searching for a better, healthier food and I decided to try Dr. Marty’s Nature’s Blend because I believed the nutritional content was a better choice.

Hunter has been eating this for a month now. He loves this food and his appetite is no longer a concern. I also believe Hunter is more active and alert. I also noticed that his bowel movements are firmer and more normal. I totally believe in Dr. Marty’s whole food blend. Hunter hasn’t had any intestinal issues so far and I think this is the best choice for Hunter! I’ll continue to evaluate and think he will continue to benefit! Thank you, Dr. Marty.

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

The nutritious ingredients.

Hunter’s appetite has noticeably increased and he loves this food.

Hunter seems to be thriving and hasn’t encountered intestinal issues.

The food is expensive.

My two Multipoos love it!

By Cheryl H., Greensboro, NC, Verified Reviewer

My two Multipoos love Dr. Marty’s. I have a finicky eater and have had to throw her food away on many occasions because she would not eat it. We've tried everything — wet high protein, dry kibble, anything we thought she would eat, even raw. Then we found Dr. Marty's. The eating issue has completely stopped. They love Dr. Marty's! When it's time to eat, they get very excited and start little zoomies in the kitchen, and they basically inhale the food. I mix it per directions with a little water. For my two that weigh about 8 lbs. each, a 16-ounce bag will last about a week. While many consider Dr. Marty’s pretty expensive, it can’t be more expensive than $4 cans of wet food and $35 bags of dry food that gets thrown in the trash. I am so glad that we have finally found a food that both of these kids love.

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

That it is an excellent food with no fillers.

Haven't found any yet.

Dr. Marty Dog Food and Supplements

By Patti R., Washington, Verified Reviewer

The only way I can afford Dr. Marty is to be a new customer or returning customer for discounts. After going thru his online presentation, I bought six bags of DRY DOG food for my 12-year-old golden who has had allergy and joint problems all his life. I ended up getting a refund for the dog food as the cost didn't justify the results. I now feed him according to Dr. Marty's advice and must say it is well worth the education.

His "FREE and HEALTHY" joint supplement is WORTH the cost. After the first order of six bottles, I have just re-ordered and will give up something in my life for it. It has made "Rocker" like a youngin again!

As good as freeze-dried gets?

By Katherine S., New York, Verified Reviewer

I have only had my dog "mostly" on this for two weeks. He was not wild about adopting it, and I still mix in some of whatever meat or cooked eggs etc. that I am eating in order to provide him incentive to dig in. I like that Dr. Marty's uses a variety of meat proteins, including organ meats. I wish the salmon were "wild caught" as the farmed stuff can be loaded with secondary compounds. The turkey, beef, duck, etc. are also likely from feedlot-type operations as they do not state otherwise. Also not sure how high on the list of good fillers I would place "pea flour" and the relative proportions of other vegetables and fruits are unknown except for the listed order of ingredients (which theoretically is by percentage weight).

I am also dabbling with TruDog brand freeze-dried which is fairly comparably priced and made from all beef "real U.S. meat, vital organs, and meaty bone." My dog likes this better and the color and texture are certainly red burger-like without any additives. My reservation on that one is that all the beef is Midwest sourced which pretty much translates to 'feedlot fattened' giant cattle operations that are not known for good animal health or humane care.

More background on my case: I have a 70lb, 11-year-old golden retriever/collie who is the "Dog of My Life" and has been grain free since I got him at 18 weeks and noticed his fur falling out in patches on Iam's. He did well on the wild-caught fish flavor of Orijen (a dry, grain free, complete but expensive ration) for most of his life, mixed with table scraps and the occasional string cheese or bowl of milk as this dog "does well on dairy" and loves it. That said, as he has aged he has gotten more finicky and less enthusiastic about any dry dog food and most wet (canned) foods including the Newman's Own Organic line - hence trying freeze dried and supplementing with as much other healthy meat, egg, dairy protein as possible. I do like the convenience of freeze-dried to at least have on hand as a backup, in spite of cost, so if you know of an even better or more affordable good option, please post.

Excellent, but cost prohibitive

By Pan B., Mansfield, CT, Verified Reviewer

The ingredients in this freeze-dried food are of the highest quality and arrived promptly. If we had one toy breed dog to feed, I would definitely use this diet. It is a convenient, nutritious, safe alternative to a raw diet. Given that we have an Alaskan Malamute, a West Highland Terrier, and a Manchester Terrier x Daschund x Chihuahua mix, the cost would be prohibitive. I think most dogs would love the flavor and would benefit from the quality ingredients. If you have one small dog, it is definitely a diet to consider. We used a bit of the food as a topping and all three loved it. The company responds quickly and politely to inquiries. I did not request a refund since my dogs liked the food and I used the three bags as toppers. When I called to say that while I was pleased with the quality of the product, I could not afford it for my dogs, they were quite understanding.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

FANTASTIC

By Gail B., Jacksonville, FL, Verified Reviewer

Our dogs LOVE LOVE Dr. Marty Nature Blend. If I could I would put it on auto delivery, however, the cost is way too high. That's why I gave it a 4-star rating. However, our dogs start crying an hour before feed time. At first I thought it was a full moon. When I realized it was the food they wanted it made me feel great that I had finally found a dog food they loved. They just wanted to even eat it dry. If you can afford the cost then, by all means, buy it. Your dogs will love it.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Both fur-babies LOVE it! I hate the price!

By Julie B., Florida, Verified Reviewer

I received my 9 bags of Nature's Blend on Monday afternoon and did a mix of my dogs' current food 3-1, mixing the new food with some hot water for 3 minutes first. They ate it up. My nearly 9-year-old Scottish Terrier eats anything and everything and has never been picky. But itches and licks and scratches for no evident reason. My 7-month-old standard poodle can be finicky and even though she’s has been on an expensive no-grain kibble (for puppies), even adding a topper she would sometimes never finish her food. This is day two with a mix of 50/50 of their food with Nature's Blend and my poodle actually barks at me when it’s feeding time and I am not in the kitchen! It’s too early to see if the itching and scratching stops on my Scotty, bit both their stools have been firm and lots less! If I continue feeding half of their regular food and half of this, it will save me a ton and they will be getting a lot of the raw benefits. They will still get their apples and carrots when I feed the horses!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good, so far

By Patti M., Rockford, MI, Verified Reviewer

I have had my two Maltese toy Poodles (both under 10 lbs) on Dr. Becker's protocol of lean food that I cook for them for quite a while but am leaning toward raw. I have started to transition them to Dr. Marty's very gradually by using it only as a topper. I do appreciate the healthy ingredients! I may continue to use it only as a topper because of what I am reading here about the fat content, which concerns me. I would like to hear more about that. Otherwise, I'm happy with it and the dogs seem to really like it. Yes, it is expensive so I will be watching for sales!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Company Response from Dr. Marty Pets

May 16, 2019

Hello Patti. I am Kat with Dr. Marty Pets. I am happy to read that your dogs enjoy our Nature’s Blend. It is very common for our customers to use Nature’s Blend as a topper in conjunction with their dog’s current feeding regimen. Your dogs will still receive nutritional benefits from this reduced serving size. Please reach out to me at kat@drmartypets.com so that we may be able to answer your questions about the ingredient contents of Nature’s Blend. Thank you for taking the time to review Dr. Marty Pets. I hope you have a wonderful day.
