Picky eater

By Jean E., Phoenix, AZ, Verified Reviewer

Both my dogs like Nature's Blend. Unfortunately, our vet stated that our 13.5-year-old needed to stay on her Liver Rx food. I did inquire as to what makes a prescription food needing an Rx? So far I have received no answers.

I feed her Nature's Blend and the Rx food and she eats it, though she has always been a picky eater. She is also on Rx for Valley Fever we just tested/confirmed for. My po' baby.

Our 7-year-old loves Nature's Blend too...but she will eat darn near anything...which can also be a problem, if it is the wrong thing.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

One month in...

By Becky S., Bristol, TN, Verified Reviewer

I have 2 Pomskies. One is newly 2 years old and one will be 1 year old in 2 days. They have eaten Royal Canin dry food since the breeders. I have been using Dr. Marty’s raw for about a month. I mix it half and half with Royal Canin. After a week (and they were on a 1/3 Dr. Marty’s and 2/3 Royal Canin), they both stopped rubbing their muzzles and scratching their ears and licking their paws as much. The vet says they both have seasonal allergies and she said to give Zyrtec twice a day. After seeing how great Dr. Marty's food was helping with allergies, I cut Zyrtec to once a day when I increased food ratio to 50:50. Not only that, but both dogs are less likely to beg/steal food and they stopped eating grass and having occasional diarrhea! I bought bags for my daughter and Mom for their pooches I was so impressed!

My negative review is that the girls don’t eat with the gusto I read from other reviews. I admit it could be from where I am trying to avoid giving flea and heat worm Rx (my 2-year-old had a really bad reaction to one causing an emergency visit to the vet), so I ordered Dr. Bob Goldstein’s powder that I sprinkle on their morning meal. They don’t care for the morning meal much. Sometimes I have to throw out half of the morning meal (most days). Evening meal I crumble one sardine in meal, and once a week I add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. They really like the evening meal. So, their lack of eating desires for morning meal may be the powder to protect from fleas. I would appreciate any advice!

Otherwise, I am happy. I just ordered the probiotics and joint products. The younger one had a bad femur bruise a year ago (she escaped through our fence and got injured). I am trying to be proactive to help her bones and joints. (Yes, Houdini girl cannot escape anymore, we fixed her spot!)

My vet is not happy I am doing the raw diet. She told me to just go to the tractor supply store for food! I like her for her care of my girls, but like medical doctors, she wasn’t schooled much on nutrition, I think.

So, thank you, Dr. Marty, for helping pet patents who love their furry kids and want healthy and happy lives for them.

Hi Becky. I am Kat with Dr. Marty Pets. First, I would like to wish your dog a happy belated birthday. A first birthday is always something special to celebrate. I would like more information on your veterinarian’s advice and your dogs’ lack of enthusiasm for the taste. Please reach out to me at kat@drmartypets.com so that I may be able to help you. Thank you for taking the time to review Nature’s Blend. We genuinely appreciate your feedback and the chance to hear your story. I wish you and your two Pomskies a great day.

Good food and treats

By Thomas H., Tulsa, OK, Verified Reviewer

Initially, my dog Sam would not eat the Nature's Blend. She took one whiff and walked away. The next day, I mixed the Nature's Blend with chicken breast meat (about 50/50). She ate all the chicken and about half the Nature's Blend. The third day, I increased the moisture of the Nature's Blend and again did a 50/50 mix with chicken breast meat. Success. She ate it all. She enjoys the beef liver treats and never refuses those. No apparent change in her energy or overall health, but she was not in too bad a shape prior to switching from Eukanuba (chihuahua blend). I switched primarily because she will be 12 years old in September and interested in making sure certain her senior years are comfortable and happy.

Loves Nature's Blend

By Albert B., Bear, DE, Verified Reviewer

Billie loves Nature's Blend and she likes it dry. She did not care for it wet. Once I tried it dry that was the ticket. She is very spoiled. She is healthy and content. I will keep her on Nature's Blend for now.

I love this food and my rescue girl does too...

By Stephanie K., Springfield, VT, Verified Reviewer

I love this food but wish there were flavor choices. My girl does have a salmon sensitivity, so I wish there were more choices in food combinations. Maybe a few types of choices to choose from. In other ways, this food is great great great. It's easy to make, and she loves it. Rosie can barely wait for the three minutes...and I often wait for 5 to be sure it's fully hydrated. Great choice!

Good results

By Marge S., Jacksonville, FL, Verified Reviewer

My dogs love the food. My only question is: when I received my order it was supposed to have a manual with it? I sent an email saying I was looking forward to reading it, but it was not included in the order. I never got a response.

My girl loves it

By Debora S., Hollywood, FL, Verified Reviewer

My 80 lbs Doberman ruby love it and her skin is clearing up. But I live on Social Security and can't afford it. Even mixing half and half with her regular food a bag only last 5 days. It would get 5 stars if it was more affordable.

I think overall it's good food

By Marlene F., California, Verified Reviewer

I had waited for her to eat it at first, then she did and seemed to be ok with it. Watched her to see if she was going straight to it or waiting for something better. She went straight to it the second day and is good with it. I started slow and mixed it with her other food (wet), then started adding in a little dry food and tapering off the wet stuff. She is still eating it and doing good. After a couple of weeks I noticed her playing, which she hasn't done in a while. I would love to get her more, but the price is so high and my husband was off work for our move then was injured during the move so has been off work for the last 3 weeks. Maybe in time, I can get her back on it.

He loves it!

By Cindy C., Oregon, Verified Reviewer

I did not think my dog would ever look forward to his meals like he did when we first give him Dr. Marty's food for dogs. My dog was jumping on the counter to be fed instead of sleeping on the sofa. It sounds like a line but he really loves the food. The treats are also good to get and work perfectly. Thank you.

Yummy stuff

By Fred F., Southport, NC, Verified Reviewer

Our young golden retriever was so excited when she would smell her food hydrating.

We are adding just a small portion as the food is quite expensive by itself.

Bella absolutely loves it.

Great, but spendy

By Charles B., Cheney, WA, Verified Reviewer

My German Shepard is allergic to chicken, corn, and all forms of wheat so I took a chance that he would tolerate the turkey in Dr. Marty's pet food and so far he's doing well. Both of my dogs absolutely love this food and eat every bit and lick the bowl when they are done. My German Shepard has even lost weight, but his nervousness has not calmed as I'd hoped it would. I am mixing both dogs food with a no-grain, salmon-based dry kibble to economize, but the price of Dr. Marty's pet food is nearly prohibitive for my budget. I bought nearly $400 worth on my first order to take advantage of his initial-order pricing and without a similar price break on a second order, I'm going to have to look elsewhere. My butcher offers a ground beef and pork scraps that are at least 50% raw meat that is considerably less expensive, but introduces a storage problem that Dr. Marty's freeze-dried pet food does not have. My pet store has sales on limited ingredient canned food occasionally, but otherwise, that too is overly expensive. It's a conundrum.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
