Summary

Elite Singles is a dating site that caters to highly educated people seeking to make a longterm love connection. While the concept is promising, there are some drawbacks.

Pros

  • Detailed signup questionnaire lets you specify aspects of your personality and preferred partner
  • Limited daily matches mean you won’t get overwhelmed with options
  • High subscription cost means many users are serious about finding love

Cons

  • Smaller membership base than similar dating websites (eHarmony and Match)
  • Higher subscription cost than similar dating sites
  • No more “elite” members than similar dating sites
  • Limited daily matches mean you might not hit it off with someone right away
  • You can only search the full membership base through the app
  • Low average rating from customer reviews

Rip off

By Alex R., Florida, Verified Reviewer

Bad site, never worked. I asked for a refund and they said no. This is a BS site, people don't chat, etc. Just keep the free apps, at least there's no drama of losing your money than you're time chatting!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Bait & Switch

By Tammy C., Idaho, Verified Reviewer

This dating site interested me because it is supposed to be for college graduates, mature individuals looking for love. It is not that at all. I am very disappointed in purchasing a 3 month premium membership. The matches provided are not college graduates and most come from the site Silversingles.com.

I never signed up for Silver Singles until I was told my profile appeared on the site. I went to the site to see my profile. To see it, I had to pay for a membership with them as well, just to see my profile. The matches on the Silver Singles site were exactly the same as Elite. How does this happen? The matches are far from being educated or a match for me.

I think both of these sites are a sham. I am going to seek a refund. If I do not get one, I will file an FTC consumer complaint.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Stay away

By Jim M., Colorado Springs, CO, Verified Reviewer

I signed up for Elite and have been a member for 3 months. I wanted to end my contract at the end of 2 months, and this is where it gets shady. You can delete your account at any time, however, you will not get a refund unless it is within the first 3 days of signing up. They give you a 7-day cancellation period at the end of your contract, and if you miss this "window," they will charge your account again, as they did me with no 3-day refund window this time. 50% of matches were up to 13 years older than me. Women on the site stated the exact same thing to me - older matches WAY outside of their preferences. Elite is about scamming people out of money -you have been warned...Do not do business with this company.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Fake Elite

By Dax R., Marquette, MI, Verified Reviewer

Nothing "elite" about this dating site. There are no qualification requirements for the people on here. Fake. I get messages from 50-year-old lifer bartenders. People with no pictures. There are zero requirements of this site to make the clientele elite. Fake dating site.

Scam site

By Duane M., Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I had tried Elite Singles in the past and found no one that was suitable. I tried it again and the site didn't work from day one. I wrote to customer service to review and remedy the problem. They told me to wait a few days, enough time so that I would not get a refund on my subscription.

I opened up parameters to accept anyone and everyone, yet only was offered one person. There is something wrong with the whole thing, and I made my concerns known.

The company response was to cancel my subscription, not offer a refund and leave me feeling like I have been duped.

There is someone out there for me, yet it is certainly not through Elite Singles. Their service deserves a failing grade, and their customer service is pathetic.

Not as advertised

By Myara C., Lewisville, TX, Verified Reviewer

I've been on the Elite Singles (ES) website for three months (bought the six-month package), and it has been a total waste of time and money. Over half of the profiles they send me have no picture, and I've noticed several duplicates of profiles I've previously deleted. Also, I've received several "security alert" emails regarding men who have contacted me, which tells me that ES is not pre-screening applicants well, as they claim to do (the lack of photos on many profiles also indicates that to me). Several of the profiles appear to be hastily created and contain next-to-nothing about the person. Again, where's the pre-screening? I am very disappointed with the site and hardly visit it anymore, even though I've paid for three more months. Save your money!

Horrible site, predatory in nature and may be a total scam

By Anonymous, Austin, TX, Verified Reviewer

Watch out for the articles and sites that claim this site is one of the best! I think they are all paid ads disguised as legitimate reviews and comparisons of online dating sites.

I've been on other online dating sites, and I have found that most are better than Elite Singles.

Rip off - auto charge credit card

By Ryan Meyer, Vancouver, WA, Verified Reviewer

I will echo many of the sentiments here and say this auto-renewal, no refund business model is absolutely slimy, shady and reprehensible. This company will steal your money and not give it a second thought.

The matches were okay, I guess. Not a lot in my area, but nothing to make me super upset.

However, when my credit card is charged with NO REMINDER notification and the company refuses to work with its customers and find any middle ground or resolution, it's not acceptable.

Yes, it's stated that the policy auto renews. But, forgive me for forgetting after six months. Now I'm stuck with another six-month policy that I'll never use because I found someone else outside their subscription. Total waste.

Not happy

By Marcus Nivens, Arizona, Verified Reviewer

I signed up for this site with hopes to find someone to connect with. Well, the matches they matched me up with didn't smoke like I do or anything that I do. This site is a failure to the dating community, and I don't recommend this site at all. To top it off, the money $120 will not be refunded. Gotta love getting swindled. They won't ever see any of my business ever again. Worst dating site on the web.

It is a scam!

By Dean Hay, Detroit, MI, Verified Reviewer

I read all of the reviews and took a chance on the science professed on the site. The first week I was matched with a guy and singles from across the country. I asked customer service why Elite Singles would send matches outside of my 50-mile preference. Their response was that my preferences were too limiting and they don't have enough members that meet my expectations.

So I "loosened up" my preferences and 90% of the matches are high school education, incomplete profiles, and have no images. After three months, I am starting to believe most of the "matches" are fake including the one named "Bridgitte" complete with a perfect stock image of Ms. Nielsen from the 1980s. Buyer beware!

Horrible

By Kathy Elkins, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Verified Reviewer

After spending an enormous amount of time answering questions, and giving them a lot of money, I get sent nothing but a few "matches" with no pictures. I asked for my money back, and they refused. Don't waste your money!
