Summary

Elite Singles is a dating site that caters to highly educated people seeking to make a longterm love connection. While the concept is promising, there are some drawbacks.

Pros

  • Detailed signup questionnaire lets you specify aspects of your personality and preferred partner
  • Limited daily matches mean you won’t get overwhelmed with options
  • High subscription cost means many users are serious about finding love

Cons

  • Smaller membership base than similar dating websites (eHarmony and Match)
  • Higher subscription cost than similar dating sites
  • No more “elite” members than similar dating sites
  • Limited daily matches mean you might not hit it off with someone right away
  • You can only search the full membership base through the app
  • Low average rating from customer reviews

Terrible experience

By Javier, Ohio, Verified Reviewer

After bumping into this EliteSingles.com on Facebook, I decided to give it a try. I ended paying for a subscription which forced me to sign up for three months as a minimum. After three months I end up with nothing. "Matches" were never within my area. I actually question the legitimacy of the profiles since I never received a single reply. Completely disappointed!

To make matters worse, after four months of canceling my subscription I received a letter from a collecting agency for $135.99. What the heck?

The best advice I can give you is, stay away!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The site is not worth it

By LC, Pennsylvania, Verified Reviewer

Many of my matches do not even have pictures, so I have no idea if they are even real or if the people are active. 90% of the profiles are also barely filled out, so there isn't much to know about the other person. It's a complete waste of money, and I paid more than $200 for a six-month subscription. They are really making money off of educated people thinking this site has high-quality matches. I would not recommend it to anyone.

No customer service - fake site

By Sharron, Atlanta, GA, Verified Reviewer

I would not recommend this site. They don't even have a customer service line to help you. I couldn't see my matches for the last two weeks, and my subscription doesn't end until the end of August. I have tried emailing them three times, and no one has responded. I tried to find a customer support number via Google since they don't list one on their site.

When I called the number, some guy answers "technical support" and asks me for my email and then proceeds to tell me the reason why I can't see my matches is because my account is being used by someone in Mexico City. He then tells me that I've been hacked and need to get computer fixed/virus removed etc., and how much it's going to cost. Of course I didn't give him my information. This was phishing, and I knew to hang up. Bottom line, it's a scam. Don't waste your time.

Do NOT join!

By Jaz Rattouille, West Midlands, England, Verified Reviewer

Rating is NO STARS.

After six months of absolutely nothing except wasted time, when I tried to cancel I was told I had agreed at joining for auto renewal. I said, "but I do not wish to renew Elite Singles, and no customer should be forced to autorenew if they don't want to," but despite this, I still keep being told even though I don't want the renewal they cannot do anything!

Well, I beg to differ. Of course they can. They can be a decent and fair enterprise and simply cancel my membership and return my money with no penalty and no foul, BUT NO. As if the poor experience wasn't enough they want to add insult to injury by ripping me off with another few hundred pounds!

They want to unscrupulously scam people like me out of their hard earned cash and deliver no value whatsoever!

Save yourself hundreds of pounds a year and STAY AWAY.

I have written to Elite Singles to say I don't want to subscribe to another six-month membership but have not gotten a refund. Now I understand why they need a million pound budgets for advertising and how they get the money in the first place.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Bad all around

By Dee, Tampa, FL, Verified Reviewer

Not only does it not meet criteria for "elite" singles, they argue with you and ASSURE you their system is sending appropriate matches. Then, the customer service rep pointed out that I had closed 200 matches, so apparently, I am the problem. They also wrote that they sent, "...3-7 compatible matches per day and it does look as though we have fulfilled that obligation." The problem is the inappropriate nature of the matches that they did send. The word "elite" does not include unemployed, high school educated, or blue collar workers. But apparently, according to the customer service rep, I am being too picky and should welcome an over-the-road trucker as "elite." On this site, I had the most number of inappropriate language and suggestions from men of any site I have been on.

Waste of time

By Sarah Weber, Pennsylvania, Verified Reviewer

I was hopeful for Elite Singles. I have taken lots of personality tests and thought since Elite Singles makes you take one, that it would be good. Turns out that if you report being sensitive to other people’s emotions or intuitive, it categorizes you as “unstable” and “easily influenced by others.” Excuse me? I have established healthy boundaries and am by no means “unstable.” This cost me countless dates, I’m sure. I matched with very few, when I’ve matched with plenty on other sites. Worst $150 I ever spent. I canceled after six weeks when I paid for six months. There’s also no way to alter your personality display once it is up. Total disappointment.

False advertising

By Amanda T., Charlotte, NC, Verified Reviewer

There is a long assessment to fill out to allegedly match potential dates (which I did). There is a scale for all criteria that to indicate how important each match criteria is, which I filled out. There seem to be almost no matches in my large metro area of Charlotte, North Carolina (unlike other sites). None of my matches meet my criteria as indicated in my assessment. I contacted Elite Singles early on to ask for a refund based on the fact that they don’t seem to have matches within 100 miles of where I live and they just recommended narrowing my search criteria. Now I get 1-3 matches that don’t meet my other match criteria. This site is truly a waste of money.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

No Solution for Being Alone

By Chuck, Lakeview, OR, Verified Reviewer

While having been on another dating site for a month with very minimal success, the Elite Singles ad appeared on Facebook and I thought to give it a try. I was concerned that many of the approaches of Elite appeared to be the same as the miserable service of which I was already a member, but the tedious profile questions presented by Elite I thought might lead to a better success. My unequaled contempt came about an hour after joining when I found half of my answers to my profile questions had been rejected for “security” concerns, and may be for spelling.

Both my career and my hobby is writing. Largely, mine is often emotional writing to influence public opinion in select controversial subjects. And all spell checked. I had given the same amount of thought and craft to my answers for Elite as I do when writing for my avocation. Answers that were designed to highlight me in a competitive marketing environment. All failing to meet Elite’s “hand reviewed” standards. It is now early morning. I am annoyed. I have sent Elite Singles my complaint, asked for the contract to be canceled, and asked for my money back. Elite Singles quickly demonstrated to me that it is nothing more than another predatory hand in the pocket of people like me looking for a solution to a period of loneliness.

Scammed

By Dan, Ohio, Verified Reviewer

First, try finding anyone close to you from the name of a city and the first three numbers of their zip code.

Then add that I canceled the renewal and was charged $149.70 today and I will now have to cancel my credit card to keep it from happening again because they are only reachable by email and will avoid you.

Don't fall for this and don't give these thieves your credit card.

Review of my Elite Singles dating experience

By Teresa Green, Eastover, SC, Verified Reviewer

I have been on the site two months. I have met two men who have become friends. We text. One rarely due to his work. The other more often. It is safe to say we will probably never meet due to the nature of our relationship, which is strictly plutonic.

Most of the men have not even made a response. Most of those who have, responded kindly to tell me they were seeing others, and those who texted only once, only said "hello" and that was all. One man didn't want me to contact him and was very rude. One man asked me out but then broke up with me because he had three other women texting him. One man told me we would not be a good match but didn't say why.

I think I can say through these examples that this site is a major disappointment. I think these men see themselves as being young and handsome. They do not see themselves realistically. There are more women on the site than men. This site is not fun or helpful. It has mostly been hurtful and insulting. The only good thing I can say about it is I have found only one scam artist on this site as opposed to many on others.

Flush your cash

By Donna Soskin, Van Nuys, CA, Verified Reviewer

If you want to simply flush money down the toilet and don't like Vegas, join Elite Singles. There is NOTHING that makes it any more elite than other dating sights. They'll take your cash, and you will NEVER meet anyone from there site. I have had 43 visitors in five months, and two people contacted me. I've sent dozens of "smiles" and messages and got no response. It's not that I'm ugly. I am told I am beautiful several times a week. This site is impossible to navigate and won't let you browse the profiles. Only they can fix you up. The WORST dating site and I've been on most of them. DON'T JOIN!
