I live in a very small town that is in a very remote area. I cannot get the whiskeys I like in this place, but now they come to my door, and I am not so much the cultured man alone in the wilderness. I am no longer the "single malt snob" in the sea of "cheap blended." I can have enough of the good stuff to share all delivered to my door, and with customer care and a great selection.

To be honest, anyone that lives near a large city such as myself has access to a huge amount of immediately available (and possibly a tad cheaper) top shelf spirits.

But that's not the real magic of the Flaviar membership. The tasting boxes are where the magic happens. The tasting boxes allow you to sample items that may have seemed out of your comfort zone or that you may have had a preconceived flavor expectation. Nobody wants to buy an expensive bottle to "try" and potentially not like something, and good top shelf spirits will cost you the one month's membership for one drink.

The arrival of every tasting box means it's time to take a pause, forget the corporate grind, kick back and ponder each drink, and decide if it's good enough to commit to a full bottle.

My partner is an avid bourbon drinker, so I thought I would treat him to a cheeky bottle!

After reading through the bourbon selection, I choose the bottle of 'Basil Haydens.' It had the highest customer rating, and the ingredients used looked appealing. I am glad I choose this specific bottle. Partner waited patiently for it to arrive and was not disappointed AT ALL; he absolutely loved it. He usually adds coke to his bourbon, but had this neat over ice as he said it was so smooth to drink!
