My wife bought me a subscription to Flaviar as a birthday present, and it has been well worth it.

Each month, Flaviar send me a tasting pack of 5 different spirits, each sealed in its own 45ml container. The packaging is well designed - a stylish black box containing the 5 vials with accompanying tasting notes.

So far (6 months into my annual subscription) I have had boxes featuring varieties of a single spirit (2x whisky, rum, bourbon, and gin), and a box of mixed spirits that shared a 'golden silk' mouth feel.

Now before this subscription I would have said I was a whisky or gin drinker, some bourbons were OK, and I disliked rum. Flaviar has introduced me to some wonderful Bourbons (I particularly liked Knob Creek 9 year old), and delicious rums.

Flaviar also sell bottles of spirits at a substantial discount. They have a wide range with a few familiar names, many unusual brands (at least to me), and the occasional super-premium bottle - the latter being much too expensive for my wallet.

I look forward each month to my tasting pack, and I would recommend it to anyone who would like to widen their experience of the world of spirits - world being the apposite term, as I have tasted whisky from India (OK), Japan (wonderful), France (surprisingly good), Scotland, Wales, and Switzerland - that last one was very surprising, with a strong hint of smoky bacon in the taste profile.

Their customer service is excellent. I get an email to let me know when the next tasting pack has been dispatched, with a tracking number, and they have sorted any problems for me very quickly.

Flaviar has great new selections you may never heard about. I tried a Scotch from Bhutan and it was marvelous.

I first tried Flaviar via a Groupon offer for a Gin Tasting experience and six sample bottles of fabulousness duly arrived for me plus the same for my best friend as her Christmas present. We spent an amazing sunny afternoon in our garden trying them out as we saved them for a few months before savoring them. Obviously the gin was accompanied by a lot of nibbles and laughter. I've been hooked on Flaviar offers ever since.

Their latest offering of the Blue coat Bourbon infused gin is nearly gone, will have to start on the VL92 soon

I am working overseas, but saw a bottle I wanted to add to the collection back home. Ordering did have one mild glitch, which customer service contacted me to address. Then feedback, a direct email, and even with one mild glitch I am a very happy customer who got what he ordered quickly, at a good price and with excellent customer service.

Really, taste different whiskies and then just buy the ones you like.! Simple and straight forward. Plus you get to taste things that never crossed your mind and with a sweet, short educational notes with it.

Fantastic customer service. I had a few questions about their tasting subscription and website and received prompt, informative replies. I was clearly talking to a person and not getting automated replies, and the replies were clearly not being drawn from a 'standard list of replies' as is the case with so many customer service places.

I have never had a problem with shipping despite it being international. The longest something has taken to arrive is three weeks, but usually it takes two. That is still better than some of the domestic packages I've ordered.

Flaviar has introduced to me to the amazingly rich and varied world of spirits. Thank you.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered my membership but I was very pleasantly surprised when I got it. I am always looking to try new things and I have on more than one time gotten something new only to find that I didn't like it at all. So naturally this made sense to me to get a sample before paying good money on something I might or might not like. I do not regret getting this at all.

Having read glowing reviews of Tellings Small Batch Irish, I wanted to try it and since it's extremely rare that I would find it at a local bar or restaurant, I knew I would have to purchase a bottle. The thought resided in the back of my mind until Flaviar actually offered it at a price better than I had seen before. So before my luck changed I ordered it and the delivery was speedy and sampling. I found the taste is a real treat for my taste buds.

I joined Flaviar quite a while ago now, but spent the first while reading the monthly newsletters and especially the reviews. As my husband enjoys a glass of gin, my first purchase was gin. I have bought the tasters which are a great way to taste and see what suits your palate. This month was a mystery, which means I'm going to savour the drinks and the implied challenge to see if my prognosis is similar to the Flaviar team. It will be interesting.
