Not what it is shown to be!

By M Norris, Montana, Verified Reviewer

I was really excited when I received the Gotham Skillet to cook my eggs in. The excitement was short lived! When I cooked my first egg, it stuck when I flipped it over to cook the top side of the egg, and it has gotten worse every time I use it. I just cooked three eggs, and I might as well have been using a cast iron skillet without any oil.

I am very disappointed in this product! I will not be buying another one unless they can prove to me that the yolk side of the egg will not stick when frying.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Yuck

By Theodore Lozito, Hillsborough, New Jersey, Verified Reviewer

I purchased the deep frying pan with the basket, three frying pans, and two grills. This morning I tried to make pancakes, which stuck to the grill. I then got out a frying pan and tried that, and the pancakes stuck to it.

I would not recommend them to anyone; they are very costly. I even have one frying pan with several scratches in it. I called Gotham Steel this morning and they are sending out a new grill.

Burned in the oven

By Vanessa Hernandez, Chicago, Illinois, Verified Reviewer

Someone gave me the Gotham Steel Pan for Christmas and I used it in the oven, but it burned. I feel embarrassed to tell the person that gave it to me. She didn't know. Most of you won't continue this, but my family will be the ones who do. In honor of someone who has died. I didn't get a receipt. What can I do?

Negative

By Tom Cortell, Quebec, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I purchased three frying pans and one square pan for grill marks. I did Korean short ribs, and I couldn't clean the pan, even after soaking it for two hours. I had to scrape it off, and the ceramic coating came off, it looked like the same frying pan that they throw into the garbage in the commercial. I waisted $90.00 on three frying pans!

I love Gotham Steel

By Kathy, California, Verified Reviewer

I just read a lot of reviews before writing this one. I don't understand the complaints of the negative reviewers. I cook a lot and have almost all of the Gotham Steel products. My other cookware is All-Clad, which is a pain in the butt to clean. Gotham Steel is so easy to clean and I don't understand why other reviewers have all kinds of messes to clean in them. We turn out picture perfect omelets. I made spaghetti sauce last night and didn't have to fight it.

I may agree with the comment that it is better not to put it in the dishwasher because it can dull the finish a little bit. Handwashing is actually very easy.

Yes, I would, and I do, recommend the brand to friends and family. I just bought a skillet for my daughter. Bottom line, I love them.

Don't hold up as advertised

By Joe, Independence, KY, Verified Reviewer

I ordered the full set, taking the commercials at their word. To my dismay, after only three months, everything was sticking to the pans. For cleaning, I would either wipe them down after use or wash with warm soapy water and wash cloth.

I complained to some friends, who talked me into buying another set. I gave them a try again, and the same thing happened. After less than three months, things started to stick.

I would not recommend them to anybody. I have had better performance from other pans that did not cost me what this set costs.

I love them!

By Daniel, Milwaukee, WI, Verified Reviewer

I read the reviews, and I find the one-star reviews difficult to believe. I am a senior, near 80 years old, and my experience with Gotham Steel pans has been that they are the best pans I've ever used, including some ultra-expensive pans from Marshall Field and Gimbles.

I ordered a combination from Gotham Steel in October; a deep square pan, a 9.5-inch pan, and a 12-inch pan. Several days later, I checked, and the order had not registered. I re-ordered and found that the pans I ordered were out of stock and would not be available for some time. I wanted the pans before Thanksgiving, so I canceled the order and went to Amazon. I ordered from Amazon and had all the product I ordered within one week.

I rinsed and dried the small pan and tried it right away. My first trial was not so good because I used the same high flame that I had become accustomed to with my regular pans. I threw that egg out and tried again, and my omelet was near perfect, not bad for an octogenarian. I have learned to cook with a lower heat and each time my success is much better. NOTHING sticks and clean-up is a breeze. You just rinse with hot water and wipe with a paper towel.

I did try using metal utensils because my son bet me they would scratch, but they DID NOT. My son is a healthy construction worker and to prove his point, he took a sharp screwdriver and used as much force as he could, and he was successful, and now has to replace the pan that he damaged. It was NOT because the pan was defective, but because my son usually accomplishes anything he attempts. I do still use that pan until a new one comes and the only place food sticks is the X my son put in the center of the pan, and even that is still easy to clean with hot water.

You can use metal utensils, but I began using plastic and silicon long ago, I'll continue using them. Under ordinary use, I do not believe the pans will scratch. If you use low heat, I do not believe the food will stick. I haven't used one in the oven, but that trial will happen next week when I prepare for a dinner party. I have not doubt but that the large deep square pan will perform just as well as the two frying pans.

Bogus advertising

By J. Odell, Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, Verified Reviewer

The Gotham Steel fry pan is one of the worst pans I have ever used. Everything stuck to the bottom on my first try, and it's impossible to remove the burned-on mess. Don't spend your hard-earned money on this product. I did not return it because it would have cost me almost as much as I paid for the pan in the first place.

Everything sticks!

By Nickson, Toronto, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I am so disappointed with this pan. I was excited when I ordered this, but after using it, I wanted to throw it out. It's too pricey and does not deliver as promised! You need to use oil for sure, it is NOT non-stick. Everything sticks, even eggs.

Gotham Steel Pan

By Colleen, California, Verified Reviewer

I bought the frying pan (at buy one, get one free) and am pleased that they are very easy to clean, and the food cooks evenly. There must be trickery, however, in the ad about its "non-stick-ness" because I have NOT been successful in trying to fry anything WITHOUT some oil or grease of some kind.

Compared to the pricing of decent fry pans in stores, I would say it has been about what I expected, and I do find value in what I got for what I paid.

The pan sucks!

By S., Canada, Verified Reviewer

I bought this pan thinking that it works like they say on TV. Again, it's another scam. Everything sticks to it, don't waste your money. I am going to return it, and am very disappointed.
