Great idea but needs more variety in menu selection and bigger portions

I have only been with HelloFresh now for about four weeks. I really like the idea of the meal prep kits, but I'm getting a little bored already. I would like to see more variety of selection in the vegetables or be able to swap out a vegetable (green beans) on a meal if I'm already having that vegetable on one of my meal selections for the week.

As much as I like burgers and tacos, I'd like to see more substantial items on the menu for the price point per meal as well as larger portions. Some items just aren't enough for two people. One of the meals had brown buttered corn, and we received a head of corn for two people. It was barely enough for one.

All in all, the food is tasty and simple to fix, and I like the idea of being able to skip a week if I don't like ANY of the selection for the week. In four weeks I have already had to skip a week. And it looks like there will be one more skipped week in July. This leaves me with having to figure out a full week's meals instead of my normal two days.

I really hope they take this feedback to heart and are able to make some changes to keep this delivery service HelloFresh in terms of meal ideas.

Good idea, but hard to deliver

I wanted HelloFresh to be a way to get me to cook more, save money and eat healthier. I often eat fast food as a means of convenience. I don't have much time to cook. I thought HelloFresh would make this easier, however, it's actually difficult to time it right so you're home for the delivery, and if you don't use it all, the food goes bad.

This isn't necessarily a knock against HelloFresh, I just think I learned that for me, the issue of eating and cooking wasn't going to the store it was my time in general. HelloFresh couldn't help that.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Meh

I finally convinced myself to try this a couple of times due to the constant subway advertising. The outcome: it was fine overall.

Pros: The convenience was nice, and the portions were solid.

Cons: The freshness. I'm a vegetarian, so I can't speak for the meat courses, but I found the veggies weren't incredibly fresh, which is kind of disappointing/ironic given the name.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Leaves a bit to be desired

The first delivery was great, but the second had smashed recipe cards and dead plant matter in one of the bags, and in the third delivery the portion of chicken came in a punctured bag. I really do enjoy the service, but so far the quality isn't living up to the cost.

HelloFresh, loved it, but

I have really enjoyed learning how to cook and try new foods from HelloFresh these last 2 and 1/2 years. However, the last few months, the variety of meals has remained almost the same from week to week. The amount of calories in the servings has gone up. I’m curious as to what’s going on with HelloFresh. So, I’m pausing for a while and will check back in later. Because I really loved the service.

Not enough vegetables

Not a large enough variety of vegetables, always sending tomatoes, arugula, potatoes, and zucchini. Way too much pasta. Zero nutritional value in pasta. No way to let HelloFresh know what items you don’t want to receive. No option for allergies or dietary restrictions.

Two reasons I won't be ordering again

I finally decided to try HelloFresh after seeing a Groupon. The food arrived well-packaged but portions were super small, even for me and my husband, and we are fit/average size 45-ish adults. The printed instructions were well done (good marketing) and attractive. The chicken smelled funky, so I used my own one recipe. Plus it was one breast split in half, so not enough anyway.

My biggest "beef" is discovering that the fine print somewhere must have committed me to a weekly delivery when I placed my first order. I had no idea until an email tells me my box will be here Monday. The worst part is the meals they sent, we cannot eat. Gluten in every single one. Sooo, that's going to waste.

I canceled online once I knew I needed to.

So for these two reasons, I will not be using this meal delivery service again.

Good, as long as it was delivered to our house

We had a good beginning with Hello Fresh. However, when the delivery service changed, things started going downhill. Sometimes ingredients would be missing, and we'd have to go to the grocery store to buy them. Another time, they delivered the package to our downstairs' neighbors. By the time we got it, there were tons of ants crawling all over the rotten food.

I called to let them know that it had been delivered to the wrong address, but they insisted that it had been delivered in front of a "red door." I told them I didn't have a red door. When this happened more than once, we decided to cancel our service. It wasn't worth the hassle.

Diabolical

Diabolical and absolutely criminal!

16 months ago I had a very pushy door to door salesperson push me into signing up for this service. I had one box, it was delivered to my front door in the middle of the street and sat there all day as I was at work, despite instructions to deliver to the rear of the property. I made a complaint and got a mere sorry in a message for this. As I don't want to spend £40 ($51.72) per week on food to be left in the street and could not trust this wouldn't happen again, so I haven't used the service.

Come to today, 16 months later, and £39 ($50.42) has been charged to my bank account. I've received no email or phone call that this would happen despite my account being inactive for 16 months! You would think this is odd, wouldn't you? And surely flag up and possibly try to call the customer in question to see if this is an actual order or just an oversight on such a long time inactive account? Well, they don't do that. I have a box of majorly overpriced food (meals that I have not and would not have selected) being delivered on Tuesday, even after pleading with two very patronizing ladies on the phone, the highest being a team leader (apparently you can't contact anyone above her).

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not fresh

The first and only box I received confirmed why I was skeptical. I ordered a shrimp, beef, and pork dish. I decided to cook the shrimp dish first. It was not fresh. It smelled strong and despite that, I cooked it anyway. It had a strong taste. The green beans were wilted but useable. The green beans were also not fresh. We had to cut those parts off.

My husband cooked the pork dish. It was fine. I cooked the beef dish. It also had green beans. I couldn't use it. We received the box on Wednesday and I cooked it 3 days later.

I was hoping this would work for us because we are busy folks. Unfortunately, the quality isn't there. I canceled future orders.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

End of subscription

The food and meals were delicious. However, it was overpriced. We tried to justify it, but we could not continue to.

When I canceled my order five days before my next delivery, I was still charged for another week of meals. I would never go back to this company nor would I recommend them because of this.

I attempted to have this resolved with the company chat without any luck.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
