Was pleased with the results.

By Steve ,

I was pleased with the results. I had dog spots all over my yard and the hydro mousse filled them in good. I was unsure if it would match my grass but it did.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Really liked Hydro Mousse

By Ken Johnston , Stowmarket, Suffolk

I have had very good experience with Hydro Mousse. I moved into a house which had a mess for a garden and started from scratch. I bombed out the patch of wild grass and weeds with a powerful weed killer, rotovated the soil, then leveled it and raked it over. The soil is very heavy, clay based, and I put down a fair amount of sharp sand which I then raked in. I then set about the task with the Hydro Mousse. Many reviewers complain about the amount it will cover. I would agree with that. In my case the supply with the kit covered 50 sq. ft. Once sprayed I then rolled the surface with a large gas container as I do not possess a roller. After a few days of three times daily watering the grass took off. There are some small bare spots that I believe was due to my lack of garden roller and watering which caused some of the seed to float down hill. The grass is now 3 inches high and looks super, so I have stopped watering and in a few days I will give a high cut and take the tops off. By an large I cannot fault the product and I am very happy with the result. Perhaps as a logical person I do read and carry out the instructions to the letter as best I can and that may be a help. I would recommend the product but do carry out the instructions to the letter.

A different take.

By Ricky M. Smith, South Carolina, Verified Reviewer

To begin, I ordered 2 pro packs in order to cover about a third of my new front lawn. I wanted to try this before I committed to the whole lawn, being skeptical about how well it would work. I painstakingly prepped my lawn surface, not so much so that Hydro Mousse would work, but to assure success of the grass growing. I read the instructions several times and followed them to the letter. What I discovered is the solution, (water, seed and mousse), in the container MUST be green BEFORE you start to spray. Some of the mixtures I did took a different amount of time to turn. Be patient. The instructions mention water pressure. Pay attention to this. Know whether you have high or low pressure, your spray setting depends on it. I tried both light and heavy seed settings and found it worked best for me on heavy seed. My grass is 1-2" high after one week, with watering 2-3 times a day depending on clouds or not. I covered my area with light straw after seeding to help hold the moisture and hold the seed in a heavy rain. I am not wowed, but so far it is looking pretty good. I do think the price is a little bit high. Thanks for listening. Hope this helps someone.

Tricks to spraying

By Lawn Guy , Ohio

I used many products that are premixed to attach to your home hose. The key to have these spray and mix properly is to use a 1/2 inch diameter garden hose. Most garden hoses are 5/8" in diameter and the average water pressure from a residential is to low to give a proper pressure to pull the mix up from the bottle. If you ever used a weed killer mix and you had a lot of left overs and you know you sprayed way over, it's because it did not mix properly. Along with the diameter of the hose, I would not go over 100 feet due to friction loss.

Now sounds like a waste of money, but if you use the green mix called slurry to just cover the grass seed, that will be a big help. I would still prep the ground and use a rototiller on a shallow setting for large area and a scratch out patches for small areas with a garden rake. Then I would put down a good seed variety, I would recommend a Tall Fescue as it works well in most areas drought tolerant and grows good in shade (works well in my region of Midwest). Then spray the slurry on the grass seed and then put a starter fertilizer down. Of course, water everyday until the first cutting and do not cut shorter than 3" because it's not golf course grass, it's more of the ruff portion than the greens.

I know what you're thinking, "why would I buy it if I'm just going to buy grass seed and put it down?". Like I said, the green slurry would be a perfect cover for the germinating seed. Straw has spotty results and has to be racked up after the grass has come up. Good luck.

Tried anyway

By Norm, Marathon, Florida, Verified Reviewer

Despite all the negative reviews, I used this product on the yard. the only thing I have found so far is it is hard to get the seeds out. After hard shaking while spraying, it worked. We will see if anything grows.

Clueless

By Kennedy B., Fort Mohave, AZ, Verified Reviewer

I ordered this and got nothing. I called and called, nothing but clueless customer service representative, and very useless supervisor. If I don't get it by tomorrow, I will call my bank and have it refunded to my account in 4 minutes. So my review about if it works, no idea. I can't get a straight answer, a lot of clueless and useless runaround redundant nonsense.

Hydro mousse

By Don Hooper , Michigan

The ingredients, when used as deicer, did not provide the coverage claimed. I got less than 50 square feet of spot coverage when the claim is for up to 200 square feet. I would not recommend this product.

1% of 100%

By Ron , CA

Only 1% of the 100% that I sprayed grew. The area where I sprayed the most seed never grew. There were no clear directions or instructions as to how much of the chemical and the seed you need to mix together. There was no warning as how the chemical would stick to your skin if you're not careful. My fingers were green for two weeks.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

What a Disappointment.

By Kkirchner , Andover, MN

The actual application is nothing like what is shown on the infomercials. It does not come out in green fluffiness, enveloping and holding the seed in moisture. The seeds don't come off the bottom of the applicator bottle. We had better outcome by unscrewing the cap and pouring the seeds onto the black dirt by hand. Save your money and buy your lawn seed from your local big box store.

Already they've started trying to get more money.

By Milt , Georgia

I haven't even received the product yet and today I got a call from someone claiming to be in their shipping department who started telling me they were going to deduct $1.00 from my Visa in order to send me a "special offer of discounts" bull. I told them it sounded like a trap to me and that I'd better not see another dime taken off my card.

Maybe it's the soil.

By Dan , Jacksonville, FL

Didn't have very good results. I tried it on sandy soil following all the directions, but got very sporadic growth, even though I was very judicious about even application and frequent watering. After waiting three weeks and getting minimal results, I purchased some grass seed and actually got better growth after only about a week. Seed is a whole lot cheaper.
