So sad...I loved my Ipsy bag.

By Missy G., Paola, KS, Verified Reviewer

I started getting Ipsy 2 and 1/2 years ago. I loved the bag, best bag in the $10 lane. I unbox on social media so I'm familiar with Allure Beauty Box, PLAY! by Sephora, BOXYCHARM, Lola Beauty Box, YesOhYas, and of course, Ipsy.

Ipsy always got me! I loved everything in my bag, every month. The profile rang true for me, they sent me samples I could and did use, many times purchasing the full-size products.

In their promo vids and the postcards they sent with the bags, often times were men in makeup. I am not a man, and their target customers are women.

The month of June sent me over the edge - tons of promotions and testimonials about gay men and makeup, none of which I can relate. I am a housewife in the Midwest, and I want to see what the product will look like on me. Or someone with a bone structure like me (a woman).

June is autism awareness month, but Ipsy chose to make it all about pride month. My bag and the contents of it was all about LGBTQ and companies who are part of that "community," and some proceeds of the June bag went to support the LGBTQ.

Further making me feel that Ipsy does not know their customer. My guess would be that they lost a lot of business after last month's bag...they lost me and that was my favorite bag

I don't need your agenda shoved down my throat...I just wanted the bag I loved and to feel included in Ipsy because that is my favorite bag.

Not good with shipping

By Gina G., New York, Verified Reviewer

I signed up and paid at the beginning of the month, and even though it said it shipped, supposedly it will take weeks to get to me, which means I'm not going to get it until the following month, even though I paid at the beginning of the previous month. The pushback date keeps changing, so I'm sure it will be even longer than what it says now. If I paid for a certain month, I should get it that month, not months down the line.

No customer service, no contact

By Debra G., Idaho Springs, CO, Verified Reviewer

I have been with Ipsy for about a year now. While their glam bag has arrived every month, I was suddenly charged a year's subscription of $127.02 that I was not expecting and did not authorize. No way to contact the company, every email comes back as undeliverable, no phone number either.

I have to report it as a fraud through my bank because I cannot get a response from the company.

So disappointed!

Charged money for no subscription

By Simona Kaminskaite, Jacksonville, FL, Verified Reviewer

I subscribed to Ipsy two months ago, and they put me on a waitlist I guess. Then they charged me for April and I received my first bag, but I got no confirmation email with a tracking number, which they promise to send out. Now I got charged for May, and I decided to get this month's bag and cancel my membership because I don't like the products, plus you can get way better deals on full-size items, for example, BOXYCHARM, my roommate subscribes it.

So I went to my Ipsy account and it says that I don't have a membership and that I'm not even on waitlist and there is no billing information. So that leaves me with the impossible to cancel my membership, and they will keep charging me money.

I would not recommend Ipsy to any makeup lover!

By Madalyn R., Bradenton, FL, Verified Reviewer

Okay, so I love makeup. For years I’ve gone to all of the popular makeup stores, dropping hundreds of dollars on the newest products, and loving every minute of it. So of course when I heard about Ipsy, I was all for it. Ten dollars a month for "top of the line" beauty samples? Hello! Sign me up!

Taking the beauty quiz was probably the best part of my whole experience, selecting all of my favorite brands and products I wanted to receive was exciting! So you can imagine my disappointment when I received my "glam bag." My first impression was that the makeup bag was cheaply made BUT very cute (hey, $10 a month what did I expect right?). However, I did expect to receive at least one product I had marked as being interested in, or a brand I had actually heard of before.

So, save your money people! It’s a scam.

Worth it!

By Anna S., Chicago, IL, Verified Reviewer

I want to start off this review by commenting on how many bad reviews there are, with so many consumers complaining they didn’t yet everything they wanted in their bags! You’re only paying $10 a month for these products, and the whole concept of this is to try new things. These products are worth a lot more, and you get some really good quality brushes, etc. I don’t always get everything I want, but at least three or four out of the five I’m super happy with and the others are good to try out. I guess it’s super hard to please everyone.

Ipsy is the best!

By Elizabeth Muriel, New Rochelle, NY, Verified Reviewer

Whenever there are spoilers and I'm excited about a specific product, I email them to request it! They are always really accommodating, and I think highly of their customer service. You no longer need to call to cancel your subscription, you can just do it online. I enjoy most of the products they send me, and at only $10 a month, you really don't lose much if you don't like some of the products.

Products didn't show and they are never like the personalized products

By Laura A., Kansas City, MO, Verified Reviewer

Not worth even $10, if you don't receive the product you pay extra for. And can't use the products they send. I've kept even for as long as I have hoping it would change. Now I'm just left with a bunch of product I can't use.

Misleading advertising

By Nettie G., Michigan, Verified Reviewer

I subscribed recently as I couldn't find another online customizable glam bag service. They sent me confirmation and promise that I would receive a collection each month based on my colors and preferences. What I received however in the first 2 shipments were cheap 1.5 oz. sample sizes, not full-sized products. And the email offers are only click-bait, that open to individually priced products costing over $30.

Great value for price, plus makeup bag each month

By Jennifer Suzanne Rothnie, Washington, Verified Reviewer

I just joined Ipsy last month and got my first bag a week ago. What first attracted me was that it was only $10 a month and came with a bag. I wasn't interested in the August bag, so waited for a little while and then signed up.

I didn't special request any item (though you can from one of the spoiler lists,) but I hoped to get the Tarte Light, Camera, Lashes mascara and Smashbox radiance primer. I got both in my first bag!

The September bag was classy, and I plan to eventually use the bags I get for small complete makeup kits (so I can just grab one and go for traveling.)

In addition to the Tarte Mascara and Smashbox primer, I received some Elizabeth Mott eyeshadow in toasted, Pixie blush in a peachy duo, and two MANEFIT masks. I thought it was nice to get a mix of things I knew I would use and things to try out.

Both the eyeshadow and blush ended up working out great. The eyeshadow, especially, was long-lasting and had a wonderful consistency and pigment to it.

I'd estimate the value of the bag (minus the neat bag itself) to be around $35. From what I understand from other reviews I have seen online, that's actually the low end for an Ipsy bag. However, a great value for $10 and I liked the mix of things which I received.

I'll see how I like it month to month, but for now, I would say it was a good first impression, and I definitely would recommend it to anyone looking to build up a stash or try new things without needing to pay a lot in a store.

Junk products. Don’t review your preferences. Automatic recurring subscription.

By Karen D., Fairfield, CA, Verified Reviewer

Scam. You never get anything good. You advise Ipsy what you don’t like, and it still keeps coming. Watch the annual recurring subscription. If you don’t cancel prior to your current subscription you have to pay for another full year. Products are absolute garbage!
