Totally confusing - probably deliberately?

By Michael B., Virginia, Verified Reviewer

The site OurtRime.com serves the UK! Although I eventually found a website at us.ourtime.com most of my attempts to access don't go there but instead offer me OurTime.com - which is the UK (British) site which either offers me dates in Manchester and Birmingham, England!

Both websites are very confusing - maybe deliberately designed to lead one to subscribe, hoping that subscriber things will become clearer?

I am very glad to have discovered this site (HighYa.com) to find I am not alone in being frustrated and aggravated by OurTime.com.

Proceed with extreme caution, or just stay away.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Scam and waste of money

By Glo J., Collinsville, VA, Verified Reviewer

I am a 60s woman who decided to try meeting someone online again for the new year. I am lonely and alone so decided to try to do something new to improve my chances of meeting someone to date. I joined OurTime on January 5, 2020. I had joined OurTime approximately 8 years ago and there were not many locals on the site then. I did manage to get one date at that time.

Now fast forward to 2020: there is a wide selection of local men which I was happily surprised by. I signed up for the free profile. And I did start receiving flirts and messages that I could not see unless I paid. So I did a paid membership since I really wanted to meet someone local. The first men who contacted me seemed local but said they were overseas - one for the military, etc. Most age 60s men are no longer in the military so I knew this was a scam profile. However, after much due diligence, I thought I could tell the scam profiles from the real profiles. I live in a VERY rural area and there are lots of local men on here which is VERY strange. I started seeing the same profiles with different pics and realized that most of these profiles are fake. I am single, retired and sitting home all day. I put in the effort to contact but never got any responses to my efforts. I had flirts with canned messages from some men, mostly out of state. I found 2 men who were real out of about 100 profiles that I looked at.

I was SO disappointed that OurTime is FAKE. No customer service. When I told one man he was a scammer (he had one fake profile that I had read many times) after he sent me an instant chat and wanted to ask me a lot of personal questions, he tried to convince me that I was wrong. So who is this contacting me on the fake profile?! When I told him that he was a scammer and that I was going to block him and report him, he became irate and cursed. His profile disappeared before I could block him and there is nowhere to report him to. Non-existent customer service. Thank God I only signed up for one month.

I am SO disappointed that OurTime is fake and not legitimate. Had to cancel my account in advance or they would auto-bill every month. Will keep an eye on my account to make sure they don't put charges on my credit card or worse give out my credit card info for scammers. Hope this helps others.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

OurTime.com and other senior dating sites all scams

By Karen C., Baltimore, MD, Verified Reviewer

I signed up on OurTime.com recently, in July 2018. It only took me a few days to realize most profiles were fake! It seems that seniors are being targeted on these websites that cater to the over 50 crowd. The profiles are completely fake, and they are trying to scam lonely seniors out of money. There is no verification process at all, so you have entire businesses working out of other countries running these scams.

These websites need to put some kind of verification process in to protect their paying customers. If you go to Care.com or Babysitter.com, they all have a verification process, and some include background checks. In this day and age, it is only the responsible thing for the owner of this company to do.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Crash and burn with online 60 plus, geez

By William H., Harkers Island, NC, Verified Reviewer

I signed up less than a month ago. I understand I'm new to this, so I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt! I'm not the type to complain, so I will just say it has been a learning experience for me. I think I will take my chances on bumping grocery carts at a grocery store on finding that one who is maybe truly real.

Scammers galore!

By Ginny B., Chehalis, WA, Verified Reviewer

I was pretty naive when I got on the site, which is NOT free, and the first guy to come along was a scammer. It's the guys who say they're in a foreign country to watch out for. After about a dozen scammers, I tried to find someone local and that didn't work too well, either. I learned their M.O. and started tossing them to the curb right and left. Then I started meeting real locals.

It didn't work for me because I've been single and independent for too long.

Watch out for recurring charges

By Mitch, Chicago, Verified Reviewer

I signed up for one month of OurTime to see who all the mail was from. Fifteen minutes later I knew my money was wasted. Oh, well, I didn't think about it again until I looked closely at my credit card statement four months later. Without mentioning it in anywhere that I noticed, OurTime automatically renewed the subscription for $29 and change.

I called when I found this, was told by their recording that this was their standard thing to do, and was connected to a call center who told me she could only erase two of the three charges. Eventually, I persuaded her to erase all three, which she did, thankfully.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Total scam

By Andrea W., Texas, Verified Reviewer

I was on OurTime for two weeks and I don't think one person was legitimate. I ran into all of the scammer scenarios. I just canceled my membership. It was unbelievable, and I wish I had not been so gullible to think online dating for seniors might be a good thing.

Ridiculous and discriminatory

By Farida A., California, Verified Reviewer

I uploaded a photo with a long sleeve top cold shoulder style, but they took the photo because it wasn't in line with their guidelines, while I see constant pictures of the guys practically naked looking! With only small shorts, which I can see everything through! These people are absolutely sick...

SUCK!

By Rich T., Georgia, Verified Reviewer

Account hacked, messages sent out I did NOT send, profile completely changed.

No one cared. Until I posted that I was no longer a subscribing member and wouldn't waste another dime on their site. THEN I get customer service! Telling me I couldn't do that.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Fraud! They steal your money!

By J B., California, Verified Reviewer

Do NOT sign up with this service and do not download their app! Once you do - they make it IMPOSSIBLE to cancel the account and WILL keep on charging you every month WITHOUT YOUR AUTHORIZATION! When I tried to cancel my subscription, they said only Apple can (because it was set up through Apple Pay). I called Apple on the phone with them and even though Apple confirmed they can NOT cancel this, OurTime insisted that only Apple can cancel the service. They are charging every month and I have to dispute the charge every month. They STEAL customers' money in charging without authorization and not allowing a customer to cancel. This is plain FRAUD!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

1.5 months on OurTime

By Bruce Baird, New Orleans, LA, Verified Reviewer

After using OurTime for 6 weeks, I am fairly satisfied with its performance.

I am an 80-year-old male and am looking for a woman who would join me in bicycling around the city for at least 25 miles at least once a week, and for bicycle trips to other parts of the world.

Unfortunately, women about my age generally have all kinds of leg, knee, balance, or another physical ailment which prohibit them from biking, and I find myself looking for women in their young 60s.

So far I have dated two women I found on OurTime who are in their 70s who can't ride a bike, but at least we can dance and do other things together. However, from research on another dating site, I found that most women in their young 60s are looking for men who are younger or very slightly older than them. So this is my problem.

OurTime's search engine lets you set up age limits and mileage limits from your home and works very well. I found many women in their younger 60s who live reasonably close to me. Unfortunately, they don't generally respond to my messages.

In this regard, I can't set these limits on OurTime Matches or Online notices. All of these seem to be controlled by OurTime, and for me, the minimum age they select seems to be about 70 and from anywhere in this country. So they are worthless to me except for penpal purposes, which I'm not interested in.

The first thing that annoyed me with OurTime was the good looking, English deprived, scamming women (probably men) with their phone numbers or email addressed embedded in their picture or profile asking you to email or call them. I blocked them when they occurred and their occurrence rate has decreased considerably.

As far as the coins, I never used them and never will.

I read the small print when I signed on for six months with OurTime, but realized from the start that I need to follow their instructions to the letter in order to keep them from charging my credit card again when the six months time limit approaches.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
