Lift by Sono Bello and brow lift

By Shirley M. Simmons, Houston, TX, Verified Reviewer

First, I would like to say, I am not a rookie to surgery. In 2006 I had a Lifestyle Lift. In 2008 I was diagnosed with cancer of the uterus having multiple surgeries, PET Scans. September 2015 I was diagnosed with lung cancer. After multiple Bronchoscopy's, biopsy of lung then left upper lung lobectomy I was cancer free.

Wanting to improve my appearance I decided on a Lift by SonoBello. The recovery was worse than anything I had experienced. After the recovery, I was not happy with the results. Sono Bello tried to resolve the issue of my droopy cheeks by doing a fat transfer for plumping my cheeks. The fat transfer ended up leaving me with droopy jowls instead of plump cheeks. This actually defeated the lift results. Upon visiting for my final checkup, I was told we could resolve the issue by injections to lift the cheeks. There just seems to be little consideration with how happy you are with the results from the surgeon.

If you have concerns or displeased with the results, they seem to sluff it off as your imagination, that you look really good. You feel you have done a drive thru the procedure. The nurse and staff are very nice. There needs to be more time spent with the surgeon to make sure you are on the same page for results. A reputable surgeon will be more attentive to your results and cost is the same.

Honest

By Talyah Medley, Arizona, Verified Reviewer

I am only giving two stars because of after care. I don't want people to know I had surgery but I would like to share my experience. I had my back done over a year ago now, and I have had ONE follow up appointment and the nurse didn't even know what surgery I had done. I paid in cash, and I firmly believe that's the reason why my experience was not as attentive as a client, that's how they made me feel. My body suit didn't fit my body type as in when my butt moved the compressor would roll up, so after much back and forth, they sent another out after a couple of weeks that still didn't cover all the areas done and didn't fit my frame.

Recently, because after one year you can see most results completed, they said that well, there are some lumps in my back, and it's lop-sided, simple things I just wanted them to consult me on. After two weeks of phone tag, they have my email, my phone, emergency contact, yet still can't reach me after a year to schedule a follow up after my surgery. That's my experience to date, and my doctor and nurse were amazing though, absolutely amazing.

Is the down payment worth fighting for?

By Denita, Dallas, TX, Verified Reviewer

A couple weeks ago I had my first meeting at Sono Bello. I was excited about the process and looked forward to speaking with a doctor. I met a sales agent. She was pleasant enough but nonrefundable a good salesperson. In the end I agreed to pay the down payment and sign the non refundable agreement. They got me (never make such a decision without meeting with a doctor and giving it some thought).

I later had a routine medical appointment with an unrelated physician. My findings came back with abnormal. Being what I thought was the picture of health, I was terrified. I was informed to get further testing. The last thing on my mind now was alternative surgery. The night before my physician consultation, I couldn't sleep. I paid +$1,200 down and thought it was nonrefundable. I thought about how the trauma could affect me or the meds. Was it worth my health just to smooth out some problem areas?

Later I received a reminder call that I had my appointment coming up the next day, and later that night I received another call saying that there was a cancelation and I could come in an have the surgery at the time of my consultation. I told the person no. I had decided not to go through with it but I wanted to meet with the doctor and let him know what was going on and my thoughts. Maybe I would just postpone or just take the money loss.

I met the doctor and nurse, and they were pleasant enough. He even reviewed my medical findings the other doctor had given me. He and the nurse assured me I would be ok and sometimes findings come back irregular, and they understood if I wanted to postpone to a later date until I felt better.

As I was checking out the receptionist inquired about the rescheduling. I told her earlier about my medical findings and that I was scared but since I could not get a refund, I would reschedule later, if the findings improved. She said medical reasoning might have an exception, she was pleasant but still encouraged me to reschedule later, and they would hold the payment.

After thinking about it for a moment, with the financial burden lifted, I thought about my health and said to cancel. In summary, I would take the refund due to medical. I thanked her and the staff and departed. I felt good about my experience until about 10 minutes later when I received a call from the receptionist. The nurse said I could not get a refund because the appointment was less than five days away. Keep in mind all of this, including the new medical findings, just occurred within the past two weeks.

Bothered by this I contacted associates that had undergone similar procedures in Florida. I was told that a medical workup should have been done before the surgery. Scheduling me for surgery without the basics eval, labs, etc., was dangerous. This made sense. I was initially assessed by a salesperson, though all appeared good, no type of agency would not assure the customer is healthy. Why would a nonrefundable fee be initiated before consultation with a doctor? Why would someone call me the evening before to offer me surgical rescheduling for the next day?

Again, all of this occurred within 2 weeks and largely during the holidays. It was not communicated to me clearly that if I had a medical issue, I needed to cancel within 5 days. I feel conflicted and had. Tonight I just read Sono Bello reviews, and they are frightening. Since I could not get a refund, I have postponed until I complete further medical testing. This is not sitting well with me. It is likely I will take the loss out of concern for my health and fear of what others have reported. I do believe I should be refunded due to medical concerns. What are your thoughts?

No permanent results

By Pam Cloud, Houston, TX, Verified Reviewer

I went in for facial rejuvenation and was afraid, but excited. Now post surgery, I’m so, so disappointed as the results were only temporary. I went in on October 3, 2017, and it is now January 2, 2018, one day until three months, and my face is showing the same lines and sagging around jowls as before. I spent a lot of money and did not get results.

I would NOT RECOMMEND this place. I wish I had checked the reviews prior, but I was excited and couldn’t wait to get my new face and results. I am so, so disappointed and cry every day! I only felt good for two months, and then it was gone and back to the sagging.

Customer

By Barbara E., Portland, OR, Verified Reviewer

Having had other procedures without problems, I came to Sono Bello with high hopes. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed at every turn.

These "awake" procedures are VERY, VERY painful! The doctor and the nurse did nothing to help me while I sobbed through this whole nightmare.

The front desk folks are more interested in discussing their own problems/weekend plans than being concerned with customers. There was NO follow up when I was so ill at my one-week check-up, I asked the front desk to schedule something and call me. This was because I felt so crummy I couldn’t stand up. Nurse Aletha even asked them to schedule a telephone follow-up call and let me know. THEY DID NEITHER!

My recommendation? Go to a certified, well-recommended plastic surgeon in private practice - they will care for you. Sono Bello is out for your money!

Very polite and professional staff but that's where it ends!

By Jon W., Wisconsin, Verified Reviewer

I had three procedures done back in July. Like I stated, the staff is excellent. When I went in I had an 11:30 am appointment. I didn't get the procedure started until after 7 pm. In my opinion, it was like an assembly line! They try to get as many patients in and out as possible in one day! Again, in my opinion, I did not get the results that I sure have considering how much I spent! It seemed to me they did not want to open another bag of chemicals to use on me and wanted me done and out for the next patient. Yes, I did lose an inch or so, but no weight.

I want back for my check-ups and the last one I told them my concern. They said they could get more out, which they should have gone from the beginning but then they put me in touch with the person who makes the appointments and sets the price. After paying over $10,000, they wanted an additional $4,000 to do the rest! I wish I would have gone somewhere else to get an estimate on what I wanted done and have it done right the first time! I have to admit I did change my diet, extremely changed my diet, but I'm limited to working out by walking only.

I should have trusted the reviews

By Dee L., Brookfield, WI, Verified Reviewer

A lot of trickery and backpedaling after they get paid and complete your surgery.

I specifically pointed out the areas I wanted them to work on in the Brookfield, WI office during to initial consult with a patient rep AND initial consult with the surgeon. Both made me believe what I desired is possible. The surgeon named the area that needed the work for my desired outcome. Long story short, ALL LIES.

Of course, I voiced my concerns during my in-person follow-ups, but was told to wait the entire six months for the final results. As suspected, no results in six months in the specific area I discussed in the consults. Now they claim that the specific area wasn’t worked on but, other areas were, and the area I’m complaining about is an entirely different area that would cost another $2,500. What the heck?! Now they’re alluding I should have been the expert during the consult rather than the so-called ones in my consults. They had the nerve to tell me that the area I’m pointing out is different from what was performed on as if I didn’t SPECIFICALLY mention this EXACT area during my TWO DIFFERENT consults! Again, what the heck?!

I was definitely scammed into paying over $8,000 for a surgery that Sono Bello decided for me rather than doing EXACTLY what we discussed. It’s as if they are blaming me for “mislabeling” the area as if I’m the board-certified doctor. For instance, if you go to a doctor for advice on why you have a lump on your hand and they claim you need surgery on the aligning finger, you’re inclined to believe them as they are the freekin’ “expert,” right? Well, apparently, Sono Bello requires YOU to be the expert.

#1. You tell them what you desire.

#2. They tell you what they need to do to make that a reality.

#3. They take your money.

#4. They perform a similar surgery but, not the exact one you discussed and paid for. You are blindsided until six months after the surgery.

#5. You complain and the spinning begins!

In that order. Please beware! A class action lawsuit should be started on these frauds/scammers ASAP.

Length of Use: 3–6 months

Pending

By Karen Paulson, Sacramento, CA, Verified Reviewer

I cannot give an overall rating here YET but I went into Sono Bello for an initial appointment on October 06, 2016 & talked to a man whose name I cannot remember & his signature is not legible on the paperwork I received. But we discussed what I wanted to have done on my face, which included an eyebrow lift, some face lifting, & lifting under my chin. I paid a down payment of $1,195 & surgery was scheduled for early November.

On October 2 I went into the office & paid an additional $10,000 prior to the surgery, scheduled for November 10. I was given lots of good instructions & met the doctor who would do the procedure, Dr. Lesavoy. I liked him immediately & felt totally comfortable with going forward on this procedure. On the day of surgery I came in at 11 a.m. per their instructions & was taken into a 'surgery room' where I sat in a very comfortable chair & was given three very strong pills to take. They knocked me out within a few minutes. I also apparently was given a shot on the inside of my left arm. I know this because over a week later I still have a big purple bruise there. Within minutes after I was out the procedure was started by sticking a sharp needle into my neck. This immediately brought me 'to' & I was screaming & thrashing around. The pain stopped & I apparently blacked out again. Moments later another sharp pain in my throat, & I was thrashing around again. This time I heard the doctor's voice saying "she is not a good candidate for this we will have to give her a refund."

After that I apparently blacked out again & the next thing I remember is my friend who came to pick me up being there. Somehow she managed to get me home & I totally passed out & didn't wake up until many hours later. I lost that whole day. The next day I called Sono Bello to ask them what happened. I talked to office staff & told them that I would naturally expect a refund, per the doctor's comments as well as the fact that I apparently was not a good candidate for this procedure. Later another woman from Sono Bello called me & we discussed this, & I indicated that I wished to have a refund. I assured her that I was disappointed (& I was) but obviously per the doctor I was not a good candidate for this procedure. Apparently, there are a few of us who cannot tolerate this procedure. The doctor who was going to do the procedure was kind, courteous, totally reassuring, so hopefully I will have a good ending to this review.

It has been nine days so far & I have not heard from anyone at Sono Bello, so will write them a letter & add another review soon.

Average experience

By Neomi Kelly, Scottsdale, AZ, Verified Reviewer

When I came to Sono Bello, my body was in bad shape and so was my self-esteem. I had my upper abs and lower abs done Their is a downfall with the surgical procedure, and that is that it is very painful. But to me, the pain and the money were worth it, because I got the body I wanted and now I can wear my clothes with no shame.

I love the whole staff; they were very helpful, and they did pay attention to my needs. I am sorry to hear that some people had bad experiences and wish you well. I love my Sono Bello body!

Better communications for setting expectations.

By Vicki S., Denver, CO, Verified Reviewer

My single biggest concern was being caught in the middle of poor communication between nurses/staff and protocols. Since I was new at this procedure, as the patient I wanted more information to be offered; not knowing enough to ask pertinent questions. Just being there is a shameful mental experience of being too fat/undesirable. Please don't treat me like a pig come for slaughter. Tell me ahead of time I am going to be put on a narrow table and soaked in a messy liquid when I come out of the drugs. It was a most disgusting feeling. Then to try a figure out how to put the elastic body suit on without a heads up while still feeling wet and chilled was more humiliation. I was told I could be back to work in three days and that was a lie given the extent of the procedures I was having. I am 70% pleased with results after nine months and not pleased with the procedure on my back love handles. I will recommend at a 705 satisfaction level.

Friendly staff, uncomfortable prep

By Gavon R., Bellevue, WA, Verified Reviewer

The surgery can be very uncomfortable and if you suffer from anxiety it might not be great for you. Personally I have trouble with surgeries that don’t provide general anesthesia so this was a rough experience. On the plus side though, the staff is very friendly and the Doctor is very thorough in letting you know how your procedure will be conducted. Ultimately I would recommend Sono Bello to most people, just be cautious if you have anxiety.
