Skeptics opinion

By Peter ,

I never buy into over-hyped products and claims for Health, food, etc. Never!

I build advanced composite "things" and have been suffering arthritis in the left hand and fingers. Couldn't snap the fingers on the left hand to save me.

Well I received the Tommie Copper fingerless gloves for Christmas. First impression is how can I wear these things working or in public or sailing? They don't look like they will hold up in my daily use.

I put the left hand glove on and to my complete surprise was able to snap my fingers! Take the glove off, no go.

If I have to wear these things under another pair of gloves, so be it! For me, the biggest non-believer, they work.

I have not yet tried to hold or manipulate tools yet. If the very least they provide is post work relief, they are a total success!

Poor Product

By Stanley Engstrom , Vancouver, WA

I had knee surgery and saw the ad for Tommy Copper and ordered the knee support. The ends of the support sock dug into my skin and left my leg indented, red and sore. The material that went over the knee itself was loose and offered no support what so ever. After wearing it for a week I could no longer stand how bad it hurt at the openings to the support sock. I have to admit though they did take it back with no fuss or speeches.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Buy a copper bracelet

By Jeff Williams , NW, AZ

A friend bought a sleeve. He didn't like it and gave it to me because I have severe elbow problems. I wore it daily for 2 weeks and this is how I feel about Tommy Copper. Comparing it to medical grade compression braces, in 4 words, it is a joke.

The sleeve had been worn once by him so it could be considered new. I've worn medical grade compression garments for years. When comparing medical grade to Tommie Copper there was a world of difference.

As far as pain relief I noticed no discernable difference between what the Vetetan's Admin gave me for free and whatever my friend paid for it plus shipping. Tommie Copper seam stitching was weak and the ends frayed easily. In about 10 days the sleeve had stretched to the point of useless. The VA stuff lasts at least 6 months before that happens. The Tommie Copper sleeve offered no support and less compression in a relatively short time. My arm had a constant green tint to it. That could be my biology. The only good thing I can say about it is "It was a conversation starter." The conversation ended with "Don't waste your time or money."

Frankly, I knew that being infused with copper was probably not going to help. Does anyone remember the copper bracelets people wore for arthritis in the 70's. John Wayne always had one on. Back then there was no scientific evidence that it did anything more than turn your wrist green. Apparently that hasn't changed. There still is no evidence that copper promotes pain relief that can actually be verified beyond personal opinion. If you believe, it may work. A good attitude can work miracles.

If you believe copper will help pain, take a copper supplement. There is some evidence that it may help your hair not turn gray as fast. I have never seen any medical studies that say copper helps pain. Because it doesn't.

Buy a medical grade compression garment, die it your favorite and if you want to be a free advertisement write Tommy Copper on it. You will be money ahead.

Or buy a copper bracelet just like "The Duke" wore. It's just as useless as Tommy Copper compression garments, but at least you can melt it down and get something out of it.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

100% return gaurantee?

By Jerry Speight , NC

I 110% explained to the sales gal why I was buying the core band and my sizes 34" waste, 44" chest (ordered 2). I received 2 pieces of crap that I could not even put on, cheap junk with very little elastic stretch. Stay away from this Dog and Pony show and Bret Farve should be ashamed of himself. Compression works as I am wearing my 2 back braces now - fused Thoracic, Lumbar and 3 levels cervical. 100% refund - paid $87 dollars and received $73.66 back. 100% money back means 100% less my $13.34 original shipping charge. But the main thing is -it's junk quality.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Love my Tommie Copper!

By Linda Hicks, De Soto, IL, Verified Reviewer

I asked a basketball referee before purchasing my first knee Tommie Copper product and he told me they were wonderful. He said he was hurt to the point where he could not referee any longer until he purchased his Tommie copper supports. Only then he was able to continue to run up and down the court.

I purchased one and it wasn't long that I purchased another for my other knee. Since then, I have purchased the ankle one and also the ones for my hands. I don't know what it is but for me they absolutely do work. In fact, my knees have been starting to bother me again so I have them both on today at work.

Sometimes, if I have been on my feet all day, I will even wear them to bed. I don't wear them all the time, but they certainly help when I have pain flare-ups. I highly recommend them!

It worked for me but...

By Ellen , Vancouver, BC

I have had issues with my IT band and knee for a while. There are nights when the throbbing pain in my knee wakes me from my sleep. I tried the Tommie Copper knee sleeve and it provided relief as soon as I put it on. I slept through the night and only started to feel some aching around 5 am which was a vast improvement before I wore the knee sleeve. Unfortunately, I developed a severe reaction around the band as per the package indicated may happen due to the silicone. I had to return the product. I followed the instructions in their policy and received my refund today. It took about three weeks from the time I mailed the package, but I am shipping from Western Canada to Orange County, so I think that is not bad. I regret that I had to return the product as it did seem to work for me. It was worth the try. I have since found another compression sleeve without silicone that also seems to do the trick.

Great product.

By Dom , Staten Island, New York

Helped my broken ankle pain. I love crew socks. I wear them 24 hours a day. Take them off to wash every couple of days. Also wear ankle support. My wife wears knee support and had relief within hours of starting to wear it. Unbelievable product. Give it a try. Best money I ever spent on pain relief.

Works on my Knee Pain

By David , Mesa, AZ

I've had tendonitis in my knee since being hit by a car for over 10 years ago. I've suffered through numerous injections to deaden the pain somewhat. I've recently gotten back into the gym and the pain was extremely annoying. I bought the knee brace on Amazon (free 2 day shipping) and it was different than I expected, not really a compression sleeve like I'm used to but more a nylon stocking with a top and bottom band. I must say I was very skeptical but I figured for $27 I'd give it a try. To my surprise I felt relief by the end of the first day, nothing amazing but a real relief in the pain. My pain is mostly inflammation and however it work is beyond me but it does work, I wear it all day except when I sleep. It is cool and comfortable except the upper band has a rubber ring on the inside to keep it from slipping that does bug me a little from time to time. I was also worried about a copper reaction on my skin since I can't wear metal jewelry or anything like that but so far so good.

Knee Pain from Cartilage Removal

By Mary Nelson , Springfield, MO

My husband bought me the knee set up. I had to have approximately half the cartilage removed from my right knee. Walking helped but the pain was still there. After putting on the Tommy Copper knee sleeve, relief was almost immediate. I wear this at work and take off at home and the relief stays with me. The compression sleeve works and have recommended to friends.
