My first three order experiences were a little bad due to delivery issues with the carriers. The order numbers were 252729, 258270, and 259891. All had been shipped via FexEx, which is a horrible carrier in some areas. I have not had a satisfactory delivery from these people in 15 years, and I hope they go bankrupt and everyone they employ is unemployed for life.

I did eventually receive the three orders, and am very satisfied; if fact, I placed a fourth order yesterday, January 5th, 2018.

Just as an aside, for all three of the orders that had "delivery exceptions," I was at home and available to receive them. In fact, I saw the delivery trucks stop at my house, then drive off without making a delivery!

This blend made for Flaviar was exceptionally smooth and enjoyable. Whistle Pig makes exclusive blends for a lot of places, and I have tasted a few. This was, in my opinion, the most flavorful. Flaviar consistently delivers quality, and I consider the membership well worthwhile. In Virginia, the state controls what can be sold in liquor stores, and Flaviar provides me the opportunity for excellent products not usually available to me.

Flaviar supplies the best and highest quality of small distilleries in the best part of the world for these whiskeys, brandy, and beer.

Since this bottle arrived, it has become the most popular on my home bar. The earthiness of the peat and the smoke makes for a hearty dram. The senses fill with the aroma from the moment the bottle is uncorked.

Glad I purchased multiple bottles. I have already hid the second one to enjoy on my own.

I filled out a taste profile expecting to receive samples that fit it. Instead, I got one that did and two that didn't. Adding to this, their prices are exorbitant for the tastings and the full bottles. I tried canceling my membership but they would not terminate it early (that fine print again), so I have resigned myself to getting a dozen tiny samples of grog, most of which I won't drink, for $240. Just tastes like a rip off to me.

I applied for membership because I was looking for more information on fine spirits. Flaviar leans primarily toward Scotch and Bourbon/American whiskeys but also features rums, vodkas, gins, tequilas, mezcals and even absinthe. They provide a lot of information (even a smartass section).

Their prices are fair but retail. I can often find them at a discount, but this is California (housing is expensive but everything else is available at a discount somewhere). Still, they also have their own brand (Deer, Bear & Moose) offering premium private label spirits that are worth trying out.

The reviews mean I can buy with confidence, which means I don't waste money on what I don't like the sound of. I appreciate Flaviar as I am able to discover little-known whiskeys from all over the world. Tasting packs are also a great feature, allowing one to try some specific drinks before ordering the full bottle. Enjoying in small quantities, that's why hard liqueurs are all about, right?
