We went to an in-network laboratory to have the genetic testing done. After taking my wife's blood, they called a few days later to let us know that our insurance may not cover the tests and that we could be responsible for tests that ran over $3K. But if we preferred, we could self pay $300 and not run the risk of insurance denial. First of all, they should have called my insurance to get a preapproval instead of rushing me to make a snap decision because the blood sample was only viable for a few days. I agreed to self pay, but unbeknownst to us, they outsourced our blood sample to Ariosa Diagnostics to do the genetic testing which fell outside of our insurance network. They also billed my insurance company for the tests and when they denied the tests as out of network, Ariosa sent me a bill claiming the tests done cost $3500. Of which they are now collecting $795, apparently out of the goodness of their hearts. They have refused to work with me or my insurance provider. SCAM. I would seriously suggest that you do not take the Harmony Prenatal Test, unless you have an agreement in writing how much the procedure will cost exactly and that you know positively whether or not your insurance covers it or not.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
