This flying saucer shaper "crisper" - to get it to crisp in the middle of whatever food is on the plate it has to be heated much higher than the recipe card suggests, and this results in the food burning around the outside edge. We used it five times, adjusting the heating time to get a good result. We did get a small portion of fries to crisp. Not a bad idea but too unreliable to use very often. Its now in the cupboard where we keep all the other "good ideas" we have purchased over time.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
