Scam!

By Jax , Stamford, CT

If I could give this no stars, I would. I believe this business is a scam! I received a $50 wine credit as a wedding present from a friend. I went on Club W's site and did as I was told to use that credit. The additional fee for the wine ~$6 was charged to my credit card. All of a sudden, because they have my credit card on file, I'm signed up for some "club," and they are sending me wine and charging my card ~$50? When I called to ask them about it, I was informed that "it is explained thoroughly in the sign up process" (I DISAGREE!), and I am now a member of this "club", which I never even signed up for! Furthermore, they won't pay shipping to return this wine package I didn't order and want me to pay for the return shipping, or they would "credit my credit card a percentage of the charge," and I can keep the wine.

Either way, I'm losing money on something I DIDN'T ORDER! Just don't start with this sham of a business. If I could return the gift I got so I never had to deal with this place, I would do so happily.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Complete scam, do not give them your money!

By EB , CA

Made multiple attempts to cancel my 'subscription' that were ignored. I continued to be charged without my consent and currently have a case open with my bank to get my money back.

Awful customer service

By Brontee ,

The wines that they ship you are decent and it's nice that they come with a suggested recipe. The reason for the rating of 1 star is that they have terrible customer service. On one occasion they did not apply a promotional code which they had emailed me. When I contacted their customer support they did not deposit the difference back into my banking account but gave me credits towards my next purchase instead. The next time I placed an order, they ordered 2 shipments where only one of those was one I selected and authorized. When I called their customer service, the representative was argumentative and interrupted me as if she was trying to prove that I was wrong. To top it all off the credits that were supposed to be applied to my order weren't applied to either of the orders. The representative said that I would be initiated a return to my bank account only when they received the shipment that I did not even place. My poor customer service experience resulted in canceling my subscription. I would not recommend this service to anyone.

Too Hard To Cancel

By Pam Cash, Los Angeles, Verified Reviewer

It's inconvenient and annoying to cancel. I had to contact them several times and even now I don't feel 100% sure. With so many other awesome ways to get a hold of great wine, I'd definitely skip this.

Nope.

By Anonymous , Los Angeles, CA

As a fellow employee I'm telling you now stay away. While Club W isn't a scam (come on people it's in the name!) it definitely has a system that is designed to get money from you over and over again. My suggestion is if you want to only get one box just to try it out, gift card, etc. place the order and then cancel three days later. This gives the warehouse time to process your order and the customer rep person can't give you any crap about "if I can cancel your order now you won't get your wine". Wrong. Call them out on that, totally not true.

The wines are at best mediocre, don't be fooled by the more expensive wines either, they're the same quality. The only wine I would ever buy from them again was the Chop Shop. So good.

It's a SCAM

By Jennifer Ritter , Austin, TX

Agree with the other reviewers - stay away! I also received a gift card and my order slightly exceeded the gift amount so I enter my credit card for the difference, and BAM, suddenly I'm a monthly subscriber. I call to cancel after my first unordered shipment, and I'm told okay after the sales person tries to convince me just to "skip a month" instead. She agrees to cancel and all is good and then I notice another unauthorized charge on my credit card a month later. I have alerted my credit card company's fraud department and encourage everyone else to do the same. Also, the wines were AWFUL. Are these even real wineries or just labels being made in a factory in downtown LA? I took one bottle to a cheese tasting and my friend literally spit it out. It tasted like cardboard. Stay far away from Club W.

Impossible to cancel

By Georgia ,

Please make sure that you are willing to keep this club for the long haul, they make it nearly impossible to cancel their subscription. You cannot do it via email or chat or their website (though they happily take your card information via their website). You must call the number they provide you with, but you must also make sure you call during their business hours.

Be careful signing up with them. You WILL regret it.

Charged Me For Wine I Didn't Order

By KMM , Washington DC

I had a $13 credit on my account and ordered 2 bottles of wine. They included (and charged me for) a third bottle, using the credit for that third bottle so that I never actually received it. When I complained, they tried to refund me only a portion of the credit. Total rip-off, stay far away.

Not worth the money

By Sandra Fernandez , Chicago, IL, Verified Reviewer

I am a big fan of wines and of trying new wines, so when I found out about Club W I thought that it would be a great thing to try because it would allow me to try all kinds of different wines and also potentially be cheaper than buying wine at my local grocery store. While both of these are true (to some extent), I was actually very disappointed with this service.

The wines I received in my first order were not at all too my taste. They were very acidic and not at all sweet (which I prefer). I tried to cancel my subscription after this first shipment, but after talking to a "concierge" who recommended specific wines that would be more to my taste and provided me with a full refund credited to my account for my first three bottles, I was convinced to continue my transcription.

I proceeded to order six more bottles which were recommended to me by the "concierge" that I had spoken to. I have been incredibly disappointed with the wines that I received. Though they have been on the "sweeter" and "lighter", I have found that they either do not taste of anything (to quote my boyfriend: "like vaguely alcoholic water"), have a terrible aftertaste, or have a terrible smell.

After giving them a second chance and being incredibly unsatisfied with the wine that I received (honestly, I am pretty sure I have had better wine out of a box) I decided to cancel my subscription.

Not an Honest Company

By Billy Roberson, Texas, Verified Reviewer

I placed an order from a gift cert I received for fathers day. They placed me on the "club" monthly order without my consent. When I sent an email cancelling the "membership", they responded 2 times that I couldn't do it on line but had to call. So there would be no record of canceled "service". I called my credit card to cancel the "membership". By the way, the wine is not a quality product.

Impossible to cancel

By Dmitrii, Cleveland, OH, Verified Reviewer

Once you sign in it will be impossible to unsubscribe. I did chat with them and they said that my account will be canceled. After a moth I still can log in and still see my "monthly experience" that is ready to be shipped using my credit card. I'm going to sue the company. NEVER ever try to use this club. Stay away.
