Zoosk is disappointing

By Kathleen Grigonis, Chicago, IL, Verified Reviewer

To begin free, to look, now then begin to look: upgrade needed. Want to write a message, if you want: upgrade needed. Read your message: upgrade needed. View message: upgrade needed. Buy this and then you can see who viewed you or messaged back: upgrade needed for this. Now they have charged plenty of money and you can't see anything without your upgrade. It cost me a great deal of money for zero results. I am very disappointed for spending a very big waste of time to write messages and no one ever getting them without money. I would like my money back since it's my first time on any dating site. What a fraud, what a scam.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Censorship and trampling free speech

By Daniel P., Escondido, CA, Verified Reviewer

I have a paid membership on the social dating website ZOOSK, and for the last few months, I have been censored on my profile, not being allowed to post any text, even though I am following the guidelines with precision. I expressed discontent with the website, but that is not against the guidelines, so they are censoring me because they disagree with my opinion? My first amendment rights are being trampled by this website, and even though I have tried many times to contact them to let them know what is happening, nothing has changed, and they charge but have no refund policies in place. Every single day I am being censored. Someone has to put a stop on Internet companies that don't follow the law of our nation. FREE SPEECH!

Zoosk sucks

By Nancie Diveris, Lake Bluff, Illinois, Verified Reviewer

1). They said they would respond to questions about setting up a profile in 36 hours. After 48 hours I had to search for their number and call them. Now I've wasted four days of possible searches.

2). Every time you search you have to change your profile all over again.

3). They are still not responding to emails when I had more questions.

4). I did it for one month and am not doing it again and have four friends that I turned away from this site.

5). They are a rip-off!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Total scam

By Diane A., Diamond Bar, CA, Verified Reviewer

I was on Zoosk for several months but never paid the subscription, thank heavens! There were guys that were total scammers, one I connected with immediately asked to "connect" outside of the site and asked for an email address. He said he was just about to cancel his account as there were too many "unserious" women on it. His email language did not fit his profile language which he covered by saying he was originally from Poland. I was surprised when he emailed with an actual name on his email address. I researched it (Elias J Dabrowski) and found nothing but a sketchy LinkedIn page and an even sketchier Facebook page. This guy had 2 Zoosk profiles with the same picture but different cities (San Diego and Newport Beach). I asked why the two profiles and he said the Newport Beach guy wasn't him. The pictures were identical yet the ages, professions, marital status, kids/no kids were all different! His last email to me was a novella that was part Indiana Jones, James Bond and a dash of iconic liar Stephen Glass. Buyer beware of Zoosk as they did nothing to remove this guy from the site after I gave them positive proof he was scamming.

My honest review of this fake site

By Tim C., Staffordshire, England, Verified Reviewer

I have to give a personal review of Zoosk after just a week after rejoining after a year away, I should know this is a scam site. Very very few real/local people. The owners should be locked up for fraud in a top prison. No one writes back; they are paid by the company or are fictitious characters. Do not waste your money. Scam. There are other ways to meet people. This is another way to make someone rich. I live in the center of the UK, yet no one seems to reply within 100 miles. I live near Stoke-on-Trent, there are 260,000 people living here...it runs into Newcastle-under-Lyme, 140,000 people, so almost half a million when you count in Burton, Stafford, Northwich. Manchester is 30 mile north, Birmingham 40 south, Nottingham/Derby 30 miles east, Wrexham same west 30 miles.

I did a Zoosk search of 100 local girls, my age, my type. I sent in 6 recent photos that were rated as very good to superb on Badoo.

I subscribed so they could reply for free!

RESULTS, out of 100 mails sent:

a) Not one within the distance replied.

b) I had 10 others, not local who agreed with me totally.

c) Three others who said they have "so many matches/contacts they are overwhelmed."

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not the worst, not the best either.

By Brian Reeves , Oceanside, CA

As far as dating sites go, Zoosk is pretty good. The only downside is that most users do not subscribe, obviously due to the high monthly cost. However, for those that do subscribe, it is awesome. It encourages people to like pictures, which increases your chances to make a connection with someone. I have actually met a lot of nice girls on there in person. When you originally sign up it is confusing because of the 'auto wink reply' feature that people can have with the free profile. So you think people are actively writing back to you, but it is just their auto reply, they didn't even know you tried to write them. It would be nice if Zoosk lowered their monthly costs, because I think a lot more members would try it, making it overall a better site. I like OKCupid, but the members there are too focused on LifeTime Relationships they almost never want to meet up with someone. Zoosk has more realistic members.

I wish Zoosk would leave me the alone before I take legal action against them.

By George W., Bronx, NY, Verified Reviewer

For over two weeks I have been asking those idiots at Zoosk to leave me alone, they have not honored my request. When I hit "unsubscribe" they come up with some BS! I just want those motorcycles to leave me the heck alone!

I met my fiance

By Ro, Georgia, Verified Reviewer

Though I was very skeptical of online dating, I still signed up with Zoosk. I knew what I wanted in a partner. I did not give much information in my profile.

I recognized the scammers and the pervs. I waited patiently, blocking people left and right, until I got contacted by the right person.

Now we are happily engaged. If it wasn't for Zoosk, I wouldn't have met the love of my life. So everything is possible, your success is in your hands.

Not too bad but have issues

By Cynthia Taylor, Arizona, Verified Reviewer

Zoosk advertises that it takes 20 coins to unlock a profile and I have always had to do 30 coins in order to unlock a profile. I had a time when I got 40 coins, but I didn't get it posted so that I can unlock a profile. It's true that if you want to try to cancel your subscription, Zoosk do not refund your money back to you and they do not remove your name because you will still receive emails from profiles stating that they are interested. But I also had good luck on Zoosk, I met someone who I really liked and the feeling is mutual, four years later. Anything you get into will have pros and cons. Nothing is perfect.

Total scam

By Jeff C., Belleview, FL, Verified Reviewer

Free membership, getting around 40 views per day, many messages. Signed up for a paid account last week, now getting 1 or 2 views per day. Sent over 15 well-written, polite messages to local users, got no responses. Notifying State Attorney Office in Florida and New York Attorney General Office to look into business practices of Zoosk.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
