False advertising

By Nik, Dallas, TX, Verified Reviewer

I bought a couple of framed posters that are supposed to be 72x48, but what I received were 23x15. I talked to a couple of rude reps, and they refused to do anything about it. I asked to talk to a manager, but they claimed there are none available. I am trying to return the items, and now they want to charge me for return shipping and restocking fees.

No sense of customer service, no integrity. Total rip off. Stay away.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Missmarked shirt

By Jane Wanke, Spring Branch, Texas, Verified Reviewer

I ordered a 1X shirt, and the shirt that was sent to me was not a 1X. It was so small that it was probably a size Small. I requested a return authorization and was told that with the return fees (plus I must pay for the return postage), I would only get $2.00 in store credit.

I decided to give the shirt to a friend instead of returning it for such a small reimbursement. I will not shop at Zulily again and intend to tell my friends of their ridiculous return policy on a misrepresented item.

Don't shop here

By Dmisc, Los Angeles, CA, Verified Reviewer

(1) Total violation of privacy. Zulily messaged me on Facebook, even though I did not use Facebook to sign up into their account, and I did not use the same login email for their account as I do for Facebook. They had to go out of their way to get my information. It is totally unacceptable that they should use an email address not actually given to them, or to contact customers via social media uninvited.

(2) I had my package sent to the address I was going to be at based on their stated shipment timeframe. Then I got an email saying that it was coming significantly sooner. Great. Except I was not going to be at that address when it arrived.

First, I called UPS directly to see if they could redirect my package. I was told that since it wasn’t exactly a UPS package, but rather a UPS Mail Innovations package that was going to be handed off to the post office, I had to call the shipper Zulily themselves.

I did. The lady who picked up punted to the post office. I asked if she could call them for me and redirect the package since they are the shippers. She claimed she couldn’t look up the phone number because non-work-approved websites can’t load on her computer.

First of all, does anyone else believe that this lady does not have her own smartphone from which to look this up if she really wanted to be helpful?

Secondly, I don’t know if I believe that she didn’t have access to the United States Post Office website, especially since every transaction they do with a customer involves some sort of shipment, and I’m betting many, if not all, involve the post office. How else are they supposed to keep on top of shipments themselves without a way to communicate with the post office from work?

I looked it up for her. She kept on waffling. She said she would try to call, and either way, she would update me.

I have had no updates. Do their phones also not work, then?

Another representative told me that they don’t have the authority to redirect packages. I do not believe this at all, you are the one who sent it, after all. And you have the tracking number, which is the only information you yourself give the customer, who would then be able to redirect packages. I suspect that what happened is, if she bothered to call the post office at all, she was told what I was by the postal office, that I had to pay $12 and get an additional priority mail label, so she didn’t redirect my package.

I can understand if the issue were my fault, but I chose my address solidly based on their own shipment timeframe. This wasn’t a difference of days, but weeks.

Based on such poor customer service (by which, I don’t mean an inability to handle an issue, but rather, the entire attitude was that it wasn’t something she wanted to handle at all) I don’t really see the point of doing business with this company, especially since this may result in the loss of package.

Poor quality and damaged products

By Joann Patella, Doylestown, PA, Verified Reviewer

I have ordered a few items from them and was disappointed on every item. It takes forever to receive and every single thing has arrived damaged or misrepresented. The company gives you the run around about excepting returns and blames vendors for issues.

If I could give zero stars I would!

By Sienna Shaw, New York, NY, Verified Reviewer

First of all, they represented a pair of pants as cotton, and they were that slimy polyester. Also, they don't offer returns, only store credit! And this is after they withhold for a RESTOCKING FEE! With all the ease of shopping on commerce out there, I recommend shopping elsewhere!

Horrible customer service for a fraud issue

By Julie Ryan, Oregon, Verified Reviewer

Someone hacked my Zulily account that was linked to my PayPal. Several thousand dollars of purchases were made overnight. When I woke up and found the transactions in my email, I emailed Zulily right away and told them that the 13 transactions were fraudulent.

The customer service agent looked up my information and asked me which orders. I told her all of them. I made no orders that night at all, none. She said she was canceling the orders and turned me over to the fraud department. They talked to me about what happened, and we changed my information/account/passwords. I started getting emails about canceled transactions and refunds. I thought, thank goodness I called them right away and got everything handled.

Fast forward two weeks. My bad for not checking back. Zulily ONLY refunded me three transactions out of the 13!

Zulily's response currently was that they had already shipped the items purchased overnight when I called at 6:50 am in the morning that same night/morning (hours of the purchase, before Zulily based in Seattle could ship) to cancel everything and inform them of the fraud.

So they stopped three items from being sent to a fraudulent address but ALLOWED ten other orders made the SAME night to be shipped to the reported fraudulent address!

The woman who ordered all of this fraudulently got a ton of the ordered items. Zulily just MAILED them to her.

Zulily basically said "get PayPal to give you the money back. Sorry, we can't help you."

So disappointed. I will never shop there again.

I should have listened to the negative reviews!

By Natalie L., Pittsburgh, PA, Verified Reviewer

I should have read the reviews! Please believe all the negative reviews you read; they are all true!

I purchased a blouse for $37.74 on 4/14 that fell apart in the wash the first time I washed it today! I purchased a SNAP polaroid and film for the camera; the film was for a different type of camera.

Going through bank statements today, they deducted $34.99 and $35.00 on April 6th. When I emailed they suggested I call. I called and they told me to email a screenshot of my bank statement. I emailed the screen shot and they tell me to call. After I (hopefully) get my money back, I will never do business with this company again!

Bait and switch?

By Rebecca Hancock, San Jose, California, Verified Reviewer

I placed my first order with Zulily on April 30th. It was for four items, two of which were a lot less expensive than anywhere else I could find on the internet.

After placing the order, they sent me an email explaining that they wouldn't even act on my order until the "event" was over. However, I noticed that they charged my credit card for the full amount immediately.

I received one item in May with the others showing as still pending arrival from the vendor. They sent me an email in May telling me that the other three items were still pending. On June 1st and 2nd they sent me emails explaining that they had canceled my other three items (including the less expensive items) due to unavailability, but they did not refund me any of the shipping fees.

I seriously doubt that they ever intended to send me the less expensive items I ordered. Bait and switch comes to mind.

Slow!

By Paul Conyngham, Atlanta, GA, Verified Reviewer

30 days after ordering, the order will be ready to ship. Unacceptable in today's marketplace. I would have never ordered it if I knew it would take this long. They said they have to get product from the manufacturer, then ship. Obliviously they do not stock the items they sell.

I wouldn't buy it for a homeless person in a Dollar Store, it would be an insult

By Katy Owens, Connecticut, Verified Reviewer

I bought two skirts for a total of about $50. The first skirt had no waistband and fit awkwardly, plus was so see through you couldn't even wear a slip under it without it being seen. I wouldn't buy it for a homeless person in a Dollar Store. It would be an insult.

The second skirt I never took out of the bag, it was sealed with a stain on it, but that was not the worst part. The picture was very deceptive; it was really a nasty piece of junk. You're better off buying clothes from full beauty brands or somewhere else if you are a plus-size woman, at least they are of much better quality even though not that much of a selection. You don't get what you see in the picture with Zulily.

Never refunded

By Sarah Johnson, Missouri, Verified Reviewer

I purchased what was supposed to be a voucher for an event at Great Wolf Lodge. The voucher number never came. If finally came after the event started. Per Zulily they were going to refund my money. Then I never heard from them. I emailed, called, and messaged them for a month. They finally just said my money was refunded and gave me a bogus code. It was never refunded to my card. Horrible time-wasting experience and I lost $219.
