Happy with Zulily

By CWG , Utah

I have ordered probably fifty items from Zulily in about six months. I've ordered shoes, tops, dresses, bedding, household and baby products. I am a hard to fit person, and like cute clothes. I have been very satisfied with the company. I've never had a billing problem. Shipping time is a little long but has never been unreasonable. If you read the description on the item you will see where it clearly states if an item cannot be returned. I have learned a few things, though, that might help others.

1. I am finding you must carefully read the sizing chart. Most of the "plus size" fashions I order need to be at least one size bigger than my usual size. Go by your measurements, not the size.

2. Do not expect to receive your items quickly. It is generally 2-4 weeks.

3. They run out of various sizes quickly, so if you want something, order it right away.

4. I find a large and varied selection of new items every day. So I have to hold myself back from ordering things until I'm sure I want it.

5. Some items do disappoint. They just don't look as good "on" as they do pictured. So think carefully about your body type and read the materials description carefully before buying. A lot of items have weird features like transparent lace backs that you may not notice unless you read carefully and look at all the pictures.

6. Realize the items are inexpensive for a reason. Don't expect superior construction for 14.99. Sometimes the price is low because they only have weird sizes, sometimes the price is low because the product is cheap, sometimes the fashion is not as fresh, sometimes they have an item because it was a slow seller elsewhere, sometimes the product is just plain a great deal. If you are cautious, read descriptions fully, and check the website every day, you can score some great finds. There will be some misses, but at these prices, oh well. And customer service is good to work with.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Starting to reconsider

By Holly Mclemore, Tennessee, Verified Reviewer

I have ordered a lot from this company, and my first few orders were exactly as described (and I was so tickled that I had stumbled on this site), BUT the last four or five times I have ordered from them I have not been impressed AT ALL.

The items that are coming now seem to be very poor quality. Shirts with appliqué started coming off literally after one washing. I ordered some earrings and one of them broke AS SOON as I unpacked it, and a necklace I ordered looked VERY CHEAP.

This will be more than likely my last order with time. This truly saddens me because I loved this site and recommended it to EVERYONE. Well, I'm pretty sure I'll start saying buyer beware. It is so sad because it was such a good company to order from, and I'm not sure what happened.

Bilked out of $70

By Allison Hammond, Verified Reviewer

I happily used Zulily for 2-3 years with only occasional complaints about their long delivery times or a substandard product, but I will never use or recommend this site again.

In January of 2016, I purchased two vouchers on Zulily for canvas photo prints from a company called MyPix2. I placed my orders and submitted my vouchers with MyPix2. Months elapsed; no canvas prints arrived. Each time I queried MyPix2, they said they were backlogged but that my prints were in production and would be delivered in 4-6 weeks. Finally, in October of 2016, MyPix2 stopped answering my queries altogether. I later received a letter informing me that this vendor was in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and I was out of luck.

No problem, right? I contact Zulily. The Zulily customer representative tells me that because the expiration date on the vouchers was June of 2016, Zulily could do nothing to help me. They only could have helped me prior to that expiration. I explained that MyPix2 was still stringing me along at that point (and for months after), in bad faith.

Clearly, I explained, this was an unscrupulous company. Didn't Zulily vet its vendors? Oh yes, I got a long explanation of their vendor relations process. Well then, they should have known that MyPix2 wasn't on the up and up; doesn't Zulily stand behind the products offered on its site?

The answer, friends, is no.

If you get bilked by one of the merchants offering products on Zulily, tough luck. Save yourself time and worry. Take your business elsewhere. I won't be giving Zulily another dime.

Do not use this company!

By Tracy, Texas, Verified Reviewer

I ordered two items of clothing on January 26th. Today is February 9th, which is the day they said (after I paid for them) that they would arrive. Ok, 15 days; that sucks. Zappos delivers the next day and 6pm.com in three days.

Well, they did not arrive today, and I got no email to explain why. I checked the delivery date, and now they are arriving on the 11th. Zappos and 6pm.com do not charge for delivery, but Zulily charged $5. What the heck! It is just crappy.

Missmarked shirt

By Jane Wanke, Spring Branch, Texas, Verified Reviewer

I ordered a 1X shirt, and the shirt that was sent to me was not a 1X. It was so small that it was probably a size Small. I requested a return authorization and was told that with the return fees (plus I must pay for the return postage), I would only get $2.00 in store credit.

I decided to give the shirt to a friend instead of returning it for such a small reimbursement. I will not shop at Zulily again and intend to tell my friends of their ridiculous return policy on a misrepresented item.

Not good quality or sizing

By Bernette L Wynn, Durango, CO, Verified Reviewer

Asian sizing means nearly everything I ordered was smaller than the sizing chart on the website. A $45 denim jumper sized Medium (chest size 35") actually measure just under 32" and crushed my fairly small breasts.

A return was accepted with shipping and restocking fee deducted from my "store credit." So I have to order from them again? A flared white tank top is so translucent and thin, I'll probably end up donating it. A 3/4 peasant top fits and isn't see through, but I had to remove buttons and sleeve tabs because they were so shoddily sewn on in white thread on a dark garment. The bottom hem looks like it was sewn by an 8-year-old (which indeed it may have been).

I wish I could have attached a photo of the crooked contrast stitching which I may rip out and redo in a color that actually matches the shirt. Most items are made in China. I will use my store credit but won't be shopping from them again.

A lesson

By Yen Luong, Vietnam, Verified Reviewer

They did reply to emails very fast, but seemingly they did nothing to solve the problem.

At the time I clicked "Confirm Order," the amount of money to pay for that order was charged immediately from my bank account. The customer service explained that it was not a real charge; it was just pending payment status. When the order was canceled before their shipment, that pending payment would have fallen off of authorization after 3-5 days. If you also encounter this case, no need to be frustrated. If you use a credit card, after 3-5 days, you will see your money back to your account. However, if you use a debit card, it will take 30 days.

Unfortunately, I used a debit card, so I had a frustrating shopping experience at Zulily. Anyway, after 30 days waiting and worrying, my money was back to my bank account.

Horrible quality

By E. W., Boise, ID, Verified Reviewer

I ordered what looked like cute blouses and they came and the Mediums were the sizes of XL! They also hung so low that my entire chest would be exposed. Both shirts were super poor quality and not fit to wear. I went to return them and they are keeping a "restocking fee." They were both $14.99 and they are keeping nearly $10. What a racket. Save your money and DON'T SHOP HERE.

Free shipping is a scam - don’t fall for it!

By Donna N., Massachusetts, Verified Reviewer

When I went to their site to place an order, there was a banner that advertised free shipping. I thought this was great because I hate paying for shipping costs. I was spending well over $200, and most sites will give you free shipping if you spent a minimum amount of money; typically more than $50. I will admit that there was a pesky little asterisk, so I proceeded to read the fine print. It said it was free shipping until 11:59 that evening. "No problem," I thought. So, I placed my order and there was still a $7.99 shipping charge. Try as I may, I could not remove the charge. In frustration, I placed the order. I had spent a considerable amount of time on this transaction by now. I got a confirmation that my order had been placed and that I now would get free shipping on the NEXT order that I placed by 11:59 that evening! How is this considered FREE SHIPPING?

Horrible company

By Sonny L., Elkhart, IN, Verified Reviewer

Products are not as described and of low quality, and nothing ever ships or is received on time. Customer service is a joke and will refuse to address any concerns, instead give generic, canned responses and excuses for their terrible practices. THE definition of a shady company. Stay far away, there are hundreds of other merchants with better products and shipping, and WAY better customer service.

Disappointed

By Sherry Ferguson , Pennsylvania

Well where to begin, I have not been able to understand how an item, say a dress can cost 178.00, on sale for 14.95, and not be name brand. Are we being made to believe we purchased an item that was a total steal? Yes we are.

I recently purchased name brand sunglasses, they arrived the only thing name brand on them - Made in China.

Bought a jump suit, medium, I tried it on, the look was like it was that of Steve Urckle - short from to shoulder to waist leaving the hip area up my butt, thus the Steve Urckle look.

Buyer be ware. I also gotten great items from them, but it does not to make up for deception of a product.
