Clownery

By Kevin H., Los Angles, CA, Verified Reviewer

Trying something for a short period of time and then subscribing to their monthly service have became a big part of my life, I have 6 monthly subscription, ranging from dog food to streaming services. I found out about Curology in one of my favorite YouTuber's video, I didn't really need skincare products at the time, but I wanted to support the content creator, and the price for the first shipment was only about $6, so I decided to try it out.

One month down the line, nothing has changed about my skin, good or bad, I still had over half of the products from the first shipment. I didn't know when I would be charged for the next shipment, and didn't bother to check, I thought to myself, I'll just wait for an update since Curology is always spamming my phone number with texts.

I wanted to cancel my subscription for the time being, because A) no change to my skin, B) didn't finish my products yet, why would I need more? I wanted to finish the current 3 bottles I had and see if there's progress and then make a decision.

One day, I just get an email and text update saying that my shipment for this month is on their way. Beyond confused, because I didn't get updates being charged, and they clearly had my contact information. I tried to email customer service and of course, there's nothing they can do about it.

Seems like a quick cash grab.

I don't think I have used the product long enough to write an accurate review, but if a company really believes in their products to have effects and can guarantee customers to return after they’ve already used the product, why use these kinds of clownery tricks to drive away potential long term customers?

Anyways, now I have $70 worth of skincare products lying around my house that I don't really know what to do with.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Does not work

By Lauri H., Missouri, Verified Reviewer

I have been paying for this for months for my teenage daughter. It does not work and is almost impossible to cancel your subscription.

So unprofessional that they do not even have a phone number to call and cancel!

You talk to a person online and they tell you to buy other things to help Curology work. This is a joke!

What's crap is that you think you're talking to a dermatologist and you are not. So frustrated!

Not to mention they have internet celebrities back their product who claim it works! After over six months of using this product no significant change at all for my daughter!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Hi Lauri,

I do want to apologize that Curology did not work for your daughter, I see how frustrating that can be. While Curology may work for many I understand it won't be a perfect fit for absolutely everyone. I can assure you that all our medical providers are licensed professionals who are registered to treat and help our members. They take this work extremely seriously.

Our providers will often recommend other products to use in tandem with Curology - we only want what is best for each member! If you need any help canceling you can email support@curology.com. You can also do so by logging into your account, going to the payments page, and following the link at the bottom of the page through to the end.

Thank you,

The Curology Team

Never got products

By Taylor U., Minnesota, Verified Reviewer

I ordered the free trial a few weeks ago now and when I check the tracking page it says it hasn’t even shipped yet. I also cannot reschedule the ship date of my next full-size box, which is to be shipped to me next week. I’m probably going to have to cancel the membership since I wanted to be able to try it first before getting more. It’s really frustrating as my skin has been so bad.

Will be canceling!

By Kailee, Kansas City, MO, Verified Reviewer

I will admit that I do not have terrible acne (if you can really even call it that). I get about 5-6 blemishes a month, but they can get pretty bad at times. I model, and it is important for me to keep my skin clear and healthy.

So I decided to try out Cureology. I mean, $5 for a trial bottle is nothing (this is not the case, however, when you do not receive your product). So I pay and my bottle finally ships. I was extremely excited to try this out, so I had been tracking my bottle twice a day, every day since it had shipped.

So it arrives at a Post Office in Utah, and for the next 4-5 days, it doesn't move. I realize it takes up to 10 business days, so I wait. The date it said it would be here it did not arrive, but I figured it was okay since I had not received any updates about it like they said I would receive. Four days after it was supposed to be here I track it again, and for the first time it shows up that it could not be delivered due to a problem with the shipping address. I check the address, which is correct, and get ahold of Curology. I have yet to hear back and do not want to cancel out of fear that I will not hear back about the product I spent my money on.

The only reason I gave two stars is because they are friendly and were helpful at the beginning, but I am upset that they did not update me (as they said) about there being a problem with my package. It's safe to say that I will not be sticking with them.

Hi Kailee,

I'm sorry to hear that you haven't received your shipment yet! If you have reached out to our support team, you should hear back from them shortly. We work hard to reply to all support inquiries within 24-48 hours if not much sooner.

Once a shipment leaves our office, we rely on USPS to deliver the shipment to the address provided. With the recent holiday weekends and extreme weather across parts of the US, there may be some additional delays. Once a shipment is marked as failed and returned to us, our team will be sure to reach out. If you have not yet heard from our team about a failed shipment, it is likely that USPS is still attempting to deliver this to you. If it has failed and is being returned, please let us know! We'll be happy to see why you were not yet contacted.

If you have not yet heard back from our support team about this, please do let us know. We'll be happy to have a member of our team reach out to you so that we may help resolve this for you.

Curology

I have been using it for a few weeks. I haven't noticed any change, and it also burns my skin sometimes. The smell is pretty gross. It's not the worst, but it definitely made me nauseous a couple of times.

Sorry to hear that! Understand that it can take time for the prescription medication to begin working. Reach out to your Curology provider and he/she will happy to help offer advice to ensure your skin is on track. We avoid adding any fragrance to our medication, as many people can be sensitive to the additional ingredients involved.

A very small percentage of members find the medication to have a slight scent. If you find this to be a bother, it might help to apply a non-comedogenic fragrant moisturizer shortly after applying your prescription, or you can try mixing your prescription with your moisturizer before application.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email us at support@curology.com.

Too soon to tell

By Chao B., Texas, Verified Reviewer

I got my first trial tube within a week of signing up, and I was happy about that. I was made to understand the tube was to last a month, let's just say pushing it to three weeks will be a miracle. Mine lasted two weeks exactly, despite trying to use an amount small enough. I hate the packaging because you can't open the tube which means if there is any product left at the bottom, you will never be able to get to it.

In the two weeks of trying it, I didn't see any changes, I am still getting painful pimples. I'm going to wait to see what the next tube looks like. If it's the same size as the trial, I shall swiftly revert to Proactiv. To each their own though. You go ahead and try it for yourself.

Didn't work

By Ann D., Texas, Verified Reviewer

My skin had started to improve for a month or two, and then it really stopped reacting to the formulas. My skin got worse. My skin looks a lot worse now than it did a year ago right before I even started Curology back in October 2017. I would advise that Curology focus more on helping people to find the root cause of their acne. And letting people know that this along with diet and dealing with the root cause is the only way to "cure" acne. I just wish there was more attention focused to naturally solving the acne, but I understand Curology is a business and needs to make money off of their product rather than give advice to naturally heal the skin. I had high hopes for this, and I know most people do. But Curology did not work, just like every other topical/cleanser/etc. never has.

Seven months results

By Rachael N., Georgia, Verified Reviewer

I tested Curology for 7 months (1 trial bottle, 2 of the 1-month supply, and 3 of the 2-month supply). One of those bottles made my acne better. The consistency of the medication in each bottle and the results produced were noticeably inconsistent. The website and info provided are very well set up. I believe I do need those ingredients I was prescribed, but am not receiving them from Curology (even though it says on the bottle and I'm paying for it). This is a very clever scam as some individuals will gloss over the inconsistency in hopes of clearer acne. It's like cutting vodka with water.

Suggestion: Do the free/cheap trial and then cancel. It is helpful to go through the questionnaire and see what you need. They also provide a lot of information about skin care/make-up. If you need adapalene or doxycycline and have insurance, just ask your doctor for a prescription - you can probably get the generic for way cheaper. If you're allergic/have a bad reaction to those (like me), I still haven't found anything perfectly clearing, but salicylic acid works well enough for now.

Hi Rachael,

I'm sorry to hear that you had trouble with the consistency of your prescriptions. Do know that extreme temperatures in transit, may change the texture of the cream, but will not alter the efficacy of the medication itself. If you feel this may have been the case, don't hesitate to reach out. Our support team is happy to help resolve this concern for you.

I assure you that each prescription contains the active ingredients as listed on the label of your formula. Further, do know that your provider is on hand to help update your formula if needed. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our team, we're happy to help work with you to address these questions.

Not good, don't recommend

By Nati K., New York, Verified Reviewer

Honestly, the first week I felt pretty good about it, confident that it would work. Thankfully I took pictures before because about a week and a half after I started breaking out all over my forehead and I NEVER did. The only good thing about it was that my skin became less dry obviously because of the moisturizer. If you really are breaking out and don't know what to do, I would talk to a dermatologist that you know face to face.

Hi Nati,

I'm sorry to hear you did not see the results you were hoping for. Do know that as your skin clears out with prescription medication it can temporarily get worse before it gets better. If you encounter this we encourage you to reach out directly to your medical provider. He or she is on hand to help get your skin on track! A majority of our patients who stick with their formula find they see results within two to three months, so we encourage you to stick with it!

Didn’t work for me

By Tiffany S., Fond du Lac, WI, Verified Reviewer

I was on Curology for around eight months and never saw the results I wanted. I would put the cream on daily, but my skin didn’t change at all and even got worse. My dermatologist was very helpful and even changed my formula, but it still wasn’t working for me. The Curology team is wonderful, but it just didn’t work for my skin and I wish it did. I’ve read so many positive reviews, but unfortunately, it didn’t work for my skin even after going through a formula change. I believe it works for some people, just not everyone.
