Allergy

By Lourdes H., Ocean Park, WA, Verified Reviewer

My dogs loved the taste but the allergy with my terrier didn’t even slow down.

That was the main reason for me to get this product.

My picky dog looked forward to the food and all three would finish their meals.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

My pup loved it

By Andrea B., Tamarac, FL, Verified Reviewer

My 10-year-old dog loved it from the first bite.

The ingredients are great and he really enjoys it very much. I did purchase 3 bags which do not last long and he is only 15 pounds.

Unfortunately for me, the cost is prohibitive and I cannot afford to keep purchasing.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My dog eats the food okay

By Barbara T., Pittsburgh, PA, Verified Reviewer

My 6.5-pound Morkie, Isabella, is a somewhat finicky eater. I supplement the Fresh Pet select chicken with brown rice and peas and carrots with Dr. Marty's food.

I have noticed that she lets the food sit in the water for hours before eating it. I was hoping that she would eat it with more gusto. I ordered way too many bags and am considering giving some to an associate at work to try on her dogs. She has four!

That is my honest reaction to your dog food.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Happy dogs

By Craig A., Bridgeport, OH, Verified Reviewer

Plain and simple - THEY LOVE THIS FOOD.

From the moment I add water to it until it is ready for them to eat. They are barking, dancing and even howling, after I serve them - complete silence (except for chomping). Lol...

Thank you, Dr. Marty - REALLY, THANK YOU.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great product

By Amy Y., Minneapolis, MN, Verified Reviewer

My dog really enjoyed the food when we first gave it her. She is pretty picky these days as she is old and I think a bit senile. Her energy level has been better most days. Some days she's not that interested in the food but I will continue to try to get her to eat it. I believe in the product.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

No soggy stuff!

By Janet D., Utah, Verified Reviewer

Have been feeding Dr. Marty's Nature Blend to our 5-year-old spayed toy schnauzer-pomeranian for about one month. She enjoys the dog food, but prefers it dry without soaking in water (the booklet that came in the box said this was okay).

Her gas and loose stools seem to have vanished. She has stopped eating grass and digging up the back yard to get at the grassroots. Her breath is better also.

We cut the serving to one cup daily because she is slightly overweight at 25 lbs, and she should be less than 20 lbs for her height, according to her vet.

She has grown much larger than her parents however, mother - toy schnauzer, father - pomeranian, which surprised everyone. She usually has high energy, strong white teeth, and healthy gums.

I limit her treats to one small Greenie and two Maro Dog bones daily. She drinks lots of fresh water and also has about 1/2 cup to 1 cup dry dog kibble, Whole Earth small breed, daily also. She enjoys half of a banana or sometimes about 1/2 cup of cubed tomato when available.

My challenge presently is the cost of the dog food as I am on a limited budget monthly, but I think the trade-off as she ages will be fewer vet bills and maybe a longer and happier life.

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Open about contents of the food

Savings offers

Fast service

High cost of the product, but you buy cheap, you get cheap

From picky eater to bowl-licker!

By Edith H., Pittsburgh, PA, Verified Reviewer

We have had Angus, a rather small Cavapoo, for almost 8 months. Like many of his breed, he is a picky eater, and I have tried every natural and commercial topping available. Only liver has worked, and sometimes he has picked it off his food.

I am using Dr. Marty for a topping, crushing the little pellets and mixing it 2-part high-quality kibble to 1-part Dr. Marty (just dry: he doesn't like gravy). He dances and barks while I am preparing it, and is now eating the daily recommended amount, licking the bowl clean every meal.

I am delighted! His fur is glossy, he has great energy, and doesn't beg for our food because he is satisfied. I would feed him straight Dr. Marty, but it is expensive. Also, I think that some of the harder kibble is better for his teeth long-term. Thank you, Dr. Marty, for this great product!

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Dog eats without coaxing

All natural

High amount of meat/fish, with innards!

Contains some good grain

Cost

Inflammatory bowel disease

By Michelle C., Reno, NV, Verified Reviewer

My 3.5-year-old terrier mix was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease 2 years ago and cannot eat regular dog food. He vomits up all processed foods except the expensive veterinary prescribed food Z/D or H/P. He loves Dr. Marty's and never vomits after eating it.

Length of Use: 1–2 years

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

My dog keeps it down

Loves the taste

Pricey

My dog LOVES it!

By Anne D H., Fort Worth, TX, Verified Reviewer

My dog (Molly) is a 13-year-old Maltese mix, about 10lbs two years ago, I started to worry that she wouldn’t be around much longer. She slept all day, she ignored her toys, her coat was thin, etc. I had been feeding her one of the "Blues" and just happened to run across Dr. Marty’s ad.

I never buy anything without checking the reviews, the BBB, the journal of veterinary medicine, my own vet, etc., everything seemed mostly good except the price.

The food arrived (ordered for a discount price, it’s the same price every time order it). I read one review that said it looks like floating sawdust when you reconstitute it. I loosely crush it and make it into a paste and it’s fine. The bag says you don’t have to use Dr. Marty’s food exclusively, so I never have.

Molly eats twice a day 1/3, cup each meal. I give her kibble, (2/3, of a 1/3 cup measure) and the other 1/3 is reconstituted Dr. M’s. She goes nuts wanting her food. I had to feed her for 2 days without Dr. M’s (I’d forgotten to order it) and she wouldn’t eat the kibble at all.

Molly is a brand new dog. She sleeps only until someone moves then she’s up running through the house wanting to play. She loves to play "keep away" with her toys and loves to have them thrown! His coat is thick and shiny. She stands on her hind legs and walks across the room waiting for her food to be set down (she hasn’t done that in 5 years). We love this food.

Length of Use: 1–2 years

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

You can add it to your dog’s kibble and still reap the benefits of a raw diet

It’s easy to store, light weight, it’s easy to reconstitute

My dog loves it

The price (I overcame that by mixing it with a good kibble)

If it was powder, I wouldn’t have to smash the little bits up before I added water

I wish the bags were larger

Renaming dog Lazarus

By Keith A., Phoenix, AZ, Verified Reviewer

Blizzard, my 16-year-old Westie, appeared to be on his last legs about a month ago. He was suffering from arthritis, an enlarged heart, and a failing liver and kidneys. He spent three days on an IV at the vet's, but they were never able to return his organs to a normal operating range. He came home, lethargic and seemingly ready to give up the ghost. Out of desperation, I scoured the internet for some panacea, found your product, and ordered 3 bags of your Nature's Blend dog food, as well as some canisters to support his digestive system and liver. I must admit, I was extremely skeptical, because so many products prove to be overblown scams on the internet. I'm happy to report, though, my distrust was unfounded. Blizzard has largely recovered, if not to his youthful self, at least his self before the onset of his organ failures. He is alert and watchful again and looks forward to his daily walk. His eyes are piercing and focused, and he's gone back to barking at the mailman and the occasional feral cat with the temerity to get on his front lawn. I realize, at 16 years of age, my furriest family member is living on borrowed time, but thank you for bringing back his quality of life, even if it's short-lived. I didn't want to see him suffer and, based on the vet's prognosis, was bracing myself for the worst. I can at least kick the can of that difficult decision farther down the road. I wasn't ready to say good-bye. "Stay boy. Stay, at least a while longer."

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Though finicky his entire life, Blizzard took to the Nature Blend quickly, he liked the taste and looked forward to eating again

Didn't have any digestive issues, but he always walked around whining after eating, the whining has stopped

I crush the pellets up individually between my fingers, when I go to wash my hands off, there is no oily residue, so it's a very clean product

Slight period of adjustment at the beginning, the food is so rich that it caused a few days of constipation

Good, so far

By Patti M., Rockford, MI, Verified Reviewer

I have had my two Maltese toy Poodles (both under 10 lbs) on Dr. Becker's protocol of lean food that I cook for them for quite a while but am leaning toward raw. I have started to transition them to Dr. Marty's very gradually by using it only as a topper. I do appreciate the healthy ingredients! I may continue to use it only as a topper because of what I am reading here about the fat content, which concerns me. I would like to hear more about that. Otherwise, I'm happy with it and the dogs seem to really like it. Yes, it is expensive so I will be watching for sales!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Company Response from Dr. Marty Pets

May 16, 2019

Hello Patti. I am Kat with Dr. Marty Pets. I am happy to read that your dogs enjoy our Nature’s Blend. It is very common for our customers to use Nature’s Blend as a topper in conjunction with their dog’s current feeding regimen. Your dogs will still receive nutritional benefits from this reduced serving size. Please reach out to me at kat@drmartypets.com so that we may be able to answer your questions about the ingredient contents of Nature’s Blend. Thank you for taking the time to review Dr. Marty Pets. I hope you have a wonderful day.
