My dog LOVES it!

By Anne D H., Fort Worth, TX, Verified Reviewer

My dog (Molly) is a 13-year-old Maltese mix, about 10lbs two years ago, I started to worry that she wouldn’t be around much longer. She slept all day, she ignored her toys, her coat was thin, etc. I had been feeding her one of the "Blues" and just happened to run across Dr. Marty’s ad.

I never buy anything without checking the reviews, the BBB, the journal of veterinary medicine, my own vet, etc., everything seemed mostly good except the price.

The food arrived (ordered for a discount price, it’s the same price every time order it). I read one review that said it looks like floating sawdust when you reconstitute it. I loosely crush it and make it into a paste and it’s fine. The bag says you don’t have to use Dr. Marty’s food exclusively, so I never have.

Molly eats twice a day 1/3, cup each meal. I give her kibble, (2/3, of a 1/3 cup measure) and the other 1/3 is reconstituted Dr. M’s. She goes nuts wanting her food. I had to feed her for 2 days without Dr. M’s (I’d forgotten to order it) and she wouldn’t eat the kibble at all.

Molly is a brand new dog. She sleeps only until someone moves then she’s up running through the house wanting to play. She loves to play "keep away" with her toys and loves to have them thrown! His coat is thick and shiny. She stands on her hind legs and walks across the room waiting for her food to be set down (she hasn’t done that in 5 years). We love this food.

Length of Use: 1–2 years

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

You can add it to your dog’s kibble and still reap the benefits of a raw diet

It’s easy to store, light weight, it’s easy to reconstitute

My dog loves it

The price (I overcame that by mixing it with a good kibble)

If it was powder, I wouldn’t have to smash the little bits up before I added water

I wish the bags were larger

Renaming dog Lazarus

By Keith A., Phoenix, AZ, Verified Reviewer

Blizzard, my 16-year-old Westie, appeared to be on his last legs about a month ago. He was suffering from arthritis, an enlarged heart, and a failing liver and kidneys. He spent three days on an IV at the vet's, but they were never able to return his organs to a normal operating range. He came home, lethargic and seemingly ready to give up the ghost. Out of desperation, I scoured the internet for some panacea, found your product, and ordered 3 bags of your Nature's Blend dog food, as well as some canisters to support his digestive system and liver. I must admit, I was extremely skeptical, because so many products prove to be overblown scams on the internet. I'm happy to report, though, my distrust was unfounded. Blizzard has largely recovered, if not to his youthful self, at least his self before the onset of his organ failures. He is alert and watchful again and looks forward to his daily walk. His eyes are piercing and focused, and he's gone back to barking at the mailman and the occasional feral cat with the temerity to get on his front lawn. I realize, at 16 years of age, my furriest family member is living on borrowed time, but thank you for bringing back his quality of life, even if it's short-lived. I didn't want to see him suffer and, based on the vet's prognosis, was bracing myself for the worst. I can at least kick the can of that difficult decision farther down the road. I wasn't ready to say good-bye. "Stay boy. Stay, at least a while longer."

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Though finicky his entire life, Blizzard took to the Nature Blend quickly, he liked the taste and looked forward to eating again

Didn't have any digestive issues, but he always walked around whining after eating, the whining has stopped

I crush the pellets up individually between my fingers, when I go to wash my hands off, there is no oily residue, so it's a very clean product

Slight period of adjustment at the beginning, the food is so rich that it caused a few days of constipation

Warning notices

By Bobbie C., Grass Valley, CA, Verified Reviewer

I have now received 2 orders of Dr. Marty Nature's Blend Natural freeze-dried complete meal. Warning labels were included with each, which I didn't see until I broke down the boxes for recycling.

#1. Consuming this product can expose you to chemicals including cadmium, which is know to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.

#2. Same statement EXCEPT "can cause birth defects or other reproductive harm."

Why would these notices be included with dog food unless it also pertains to dogs? Unable to reach anyone in the "support team."

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Unable to reach a person to contact

2 warning notices

Hello Bobbie. My name is Kat, I am with Dr. Marty Pets. I apologize for any inconvenience you have experience. Please know that your pet's health is our number one priority and Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to California residents about certain exposures to chemicals that can cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Good, so far

By Patti M., Rockford, MI, Verified Reviewer

I have had my two Maltese toy Poodles (both under 10 lbs) on Dr. Becker's protocol of lean food that I cook for them for quite a while but am leaning toward raw. I have started to transition them to Dr. Marty's very gradually by using it only as a topper. I do appreciate the healthy ingredients! I may continue to use it only as a topper because of what I am reading here about the fat content, which concerns me. I would like to hear more about that. Otherwise, I'm happy with it and the dogs seem to really like it. Yes, it is expensive so I will be watching for sales!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Company Response from Dr. Marty Pets

May 16, 2019

Hello Patti. I am Kat with Dr. Marty Pets. I am happy to read that your dogs enjoy our Nature’s Blend. It is very common for our customers to use Nature’s Blend as a topper in conjunction with their dog’s current feeding regimen. Your dogs will still receive nutritional benefits from this reduced serving size. Please reach out to me at kat@drmartypets.com so that we may be able to answer your questions about the ingredient contents of Nature’s Blend. Thank you for taking the time to review Dr. Marty Pets. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Chihuahua 2lb puppy

By Linda F., Mountain Home, ID, Verified Reviewer

She broke her paw on March 3rd (don't know how), was set on March 5th. Took her back on March 11th, she was sick. Thay took off cast and found it infected. After 5 weeks of treatment, the bandages came off. Had to wear a cone for two more weeks. Ordered Nature's in the hope it would help with healing. I think it did as she no longer has the cone after 1 week.

Great food and service

By Mychelle W., Fort McCoy, FL, Verified Reviewer

Took my Pug to the Vet, also took a bag from Dr. Marty’s Food. Asked the Vet about the food. He told me that my Little Princess was eating better than he was. My Little Princess also has allergies. Little Princess is feeling better. Also has lost weight! Which is a plus. Her eyes look a lot brighter. So that tells me that Dr. Marty's food is WORTH IT!

Thank you Dr. Marty for the awesome food! Lilli Lu Thanks you also! I start fixing her food and she is standing up at the counter whining.

Lots of love from Lilli Lu!

Not eating

By Isadora M., What Palm Beach, FL, Verified Reviewer

The first three bags he loved. I thought I had found something that he would really enjoy. Now he is not eating, maybe a few bites if at all. He still likes and eats his Tilley treats. Don’t know what’s wrong.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Hi Isadora, thank you so much for leaving us a review today! How interesting, I have not heard of this happening before. I can issue you a full refund, just for giving it to your pup to try. Just e-mail me at Kat@drmartypets.com and I can begin the refund process. I'm so happy to hear that he is liking Tilly's Treasures, though. I look forward to hearing from you and making this right!

Good

By Edith and Goldie W., Colorado, Verified Reviewer

Goldie is a small Pomeranian and Chihuahua mix, she does eat the food well. Her stools are normal and not too soft due to the food texture. Her pattern of eating is that she does not eat right away when the food is set down for her. She does eat later within 2 to 4 hours. Two times a day. I have a concern of her eating when I take her to stay with other dogs that I do a couple of times a year as since she does not eat right away, she can't be kept separate from the other dogs until she eats. So, her old brand of hard food is available which she eventually eats but she does not go hungry so I don't worry about this. She does not have to compete for food. She survives being with 5 dogs from them being bigger to smaller than she is.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Very good but pricey

By John N., New York, Verified Reviewer

I have a Golden Lab and he weighs around 117lbs, he loves this dog food and licks the bowl so clean that I don't need to clean it, HA HA! The only thing that prevents me from feeding this as his strict meal is the price, one 16oz bag would last me two days the most, so I mix it with his other dog food so it would last longer.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

After 45 days, dogs like it, but no miracle cures

By Carla B., Portland, OR, Verified Reviewer

So I bought a lot of this because 1) the deep discount at initial offering (though still not cheap, but it's really hard to figure out the price of this product), and 2) the infomercial was so compelling (natural/raw diet, easy to store and use, gut health, improved well being, etc.), and 3) the money back guarantee - I really do love my dogs and want them to enjoy the best health possible.

Since both are senior dogs (18 and 11 year olds) I was hoping for more than is probably realistic; i.e., restoration of failing eye sight, noticeable limping with exercise, mild hearing loss. None of that has improved at approximately 45 days in.

The pros of Nature's Blend, the transition to this food was easy, they both like it. I am about to run out of their kibble, and am waffling on trying to decide whether to purchase more and use it to make my whopping initial purchase last longer or not. Because I do love them and enjoy them so much, I want them to be happy and maybe I'm just imagining it, but I think they really do enjoy this new diet! They still both eat some grass and dirt, but admittedly I don't know what that means.

I am going to say I would not recommend to a friend because I honestly think I was just subject to purchase based on emotional reasons and the pricing remains a mystery to me and seems expensive. I am not a customer whose dogs have allergies or other problems discussed in the informercial.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Organic, free range, and wild

By Sophie R., Mendocino, CA, Verified Reviewer

We liked your product but we won’t repeat our order because of the fact that the ingredients that you are sourcing are not organic, free-range, and/or wild.

As you might be aware, meat that is commercially produced can contain growth hormones and antibiotics (especially organ meat).

I liked the idea that your product is raw and dry freeze. Why are you suggesting to add HOT water to it?

What about enzymes preserving?

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Company Response from Dr. Marty Pets

Hi Sophie, I'm Kat from Dr. Marty Pets. Thank you for your thoughtful review. I'm happy to hear that your pup(s) enjoyed our product, and would like to address some of the concerns you brought up in your review. All of our ingredients in Nature's Blend are from high quality, all natural sources. This includes a variety of meats, fish, ranch-raised beef and duck, and other protein sources like fruits and vegetables. Nature's Blend is all-natural and free of chemicals and fillers. In addition, Nature's Blend also contains the natural preservatives, salt and mixed tocopherols, that are safe for your pups to consume. I also wanted to mention that the water you add to it can be room temperature, or you don't have to add any water at all! Adding water does not diminish the quality or efficacy of Nature's Blend. We stand by each ingredient in Nature's Blend and would never create a product that we didn't believe in. I hope this clears up any concerns. Please e-mail me at Kat@Drmartypets.com and I can refund you. Thank you for giving Nature's Blend a try.
