Summary

Elite Singles is a dating site that caters to highly educated people seeking to make a longterm love connection. While the concept is promising, there are some drawbacks.

Pros

  • Detailed signup questionnaire lets you specify aspects of your personality and preferred partner
  • Limited daily matches mean you won’t get overwhelmed with options
  • High subscription cost means many users are serious about finding love

Cons

  • Smaller membership base than similar dating websites (eHarmony and Match)
  • Higher subscription cost than similar dating sites
  • No more “elite” members than similar dating sites
  • Limited daily matches mean you might not hit it off with someone right away
  • You can only search the full membership base through the app
  • Low average rating from customer reviews

Awful site

By Danny Rodin, Israel, Verified Reviewer

They will delete your profile without any reason nor warning.

Everything on that site is expensive, and nothing is for free. I wouldn't recommend it unless you enjoy bad interface, bad support and complete disregard for your efforts to build a profile.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Elite Singles is the WORST of all!

By Michel Denault, Quebec, Canada, Verified Reviewer

STAY AWAY from this site if you don't want to feel like you've been scammed!

This site is by far the worst!

You're going to waste your time (not to say your money) filling in their stupid questionnaires because everything you will write in it will be TOTALLY IGNORED. I'm sure that they present you to every user of the site, 20 or so per day. Total mismatches.

Also, they have this random thing where they propose users that are 100% outside what you're looking for (hey, if someone would register its cat, dog, fish, hamster they would present them to you as partners you would like!). You respond or you delete forever. You can't "save" the profile to respond to after you finished reviewing what they sent (in a way, it doesn't really matter, in respect to what you specified, it's crap anyway).

Elite Singles are liars and thieves!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

You have a better shot of meeting someone in this review forum!

By Christy, Louisiana, Verified Reviewer

You have a better shot of meeting someone in this review forum than on EliteSingles! LOL. Don't waste your money. I decided to try online dating for the first time and selected Elite because I thought it would be more upscale people who would be a better match for me than the crazy hook up stories I hear from other dating sites.

I signed up, and they have a very specific long questionnaire, and you can select how strongly you feel about NOT having kids or what ethnic backgrounds you will date in, or how many miles you are willing to date within. They should change their name to complicatedmatches.com.

I got three recommendations on my first day, ALL over 300 miles away. Complicated right? I sent a message to customer service with an "auto response," and then I started getting totally opposite matches than what I felt strongly about.

Some man just messaged me and asked if I was open to having more kids. His profile says he wants kids, mine in NO WAY 100% on wanting kids. My kids are grown, and that was rewarding and great, but babies?NO.

Instead of offering a seven-day trial or notifying me that there are ZERO matches for me in my whole state, they just take and hope! Try anything else.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The site is not worth it

By LC, Pennsylvania, Verified Reviewer

Many of my matches do not even have pictures, so I have no idea if they are even real or if the people are active. 90% of the profiles are also barely filled out, so there isn't much to know about the other person. It's a complete waste of money, and I paid more than $200 for a six-month subscription. They are really making money off of educated people thinking this site has high-quality matches. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Definitely not my choice

By Kate, California, Verified Reviewer

I paid for six months, and I knew after four days it wasn't a fit. They wouldn't refund my money. Watched for a couple more months since they would give me my money back. Same guys I wasn't interested in over and over. Very sad!

Waste of time and money

By Danny Ebstone, Raleigh, NC, Verified Reviewer

Elite is terrible. They send you "matches" from all over the country. They ask you why you are erasing "matches," and when you reply that they are too far away, they say "Thanks for helping us improve," but they keep sending matches from out of state, even though you have put in your settings not to. The profile test they use is highly flawed, absurd and inaccurate. Do your self a favor, run from this site.

Flush your cash

By Donna Soskin, Van Nuys, CA, Verified Reviewer

If you want to simply flush money down the toilet and don't like Vegas, join Elite Singles. There is NOTHING that makes it any more elite than other dating sights. They'll take your cash, and you will NEVER meet anyone from there site. I have had 43 visitors in five months, and two people contacted me. I've sent dozens of "smiles" and messages and got no response. It's not that I'm ugly. I am told I am beautiful several times a week. This site is impossible to navigate and won't let you browse the profiles. Only they can fix you up. The WORST dating site and I've been on most of them. DON'T JOIN!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Rip off

By Melissa Reynolds, Kansas, Verified Reviewer

I have only received a few match suggestions in the six weeks I've been a member. Those suggestions were ridiculous (and no pictures, which makes me wonder if they're fake profiles). I haven't received any suggestions in weeks, yet I sign in every day. There is no option to actively look through member profiles. They also made it VERY difficult to cancel the auto-renewal. Stay away from Elite Singles!

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Scam-like policies

By Kate G, Denver, CO, Verified Reviewer

I signed up for Elite Singles because I was lured in by the idea of a partner who would understand the sacrifices I make in the line of my career. Instead, I found a bunch of men who were effectively nonresponsive. I filled out my entire profile to nearly 96% complete. I reviewed my matches faithfully every day for a month. I sent out messages to anyone I was interested in, and I never got one single, solitary response. In frustration, I signed up for another dating app, using their free features. On there, I was able to arrange several dates within the first week.

I basically forgot I even had the app at that point. And then, I get home from having been out of cell range for most of a day to a notice that my subscription has been renewed. I immediately cancel and contact them about a refund. I am then informed that they give a 24-hour renewal notice period, after which they renew and will not refund.

In today's day and age, 24 hours is a laughable period for anything, but especially something that is going to take your money and not offer any recourse to you, furthermore so on a site that claims it caters to busy professionals. I can think of only one thing that does this, and it is called a scam. Their standard language email offered me the consolation that I have the service until the end of my new term, as if that's some sort of benefit. If I wanted the service, I wouldn't have canceled the first second I was aware of the issue.

If you want zero response and scam-like policies, feel free to sign up.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Review of my Elite Singles dating experience

By Teresa Green, Eastover, SC, Verified Reviewer

I have been on the site two months. I have met two men who have become friends. We text. One rarely due to his work. The other more often. It is safe to say we will probably never meet due to the nature of our relationship, which is strictly plutonic.

Most of the men have not even made a response. Most of those who have, responded kindly to tell me they were seeing others, and those who texted only once, only said "hello" and that was all. One man didn't want me to contact him and was very rude. One man asked me out but then broke up with me because he had three other women texting him. One man told me we would not be a good match but didn't say why.

I think I can say through these examples that this site is a major disappointment. I think these men see themselves as being young and handsome. They do not see themselves realistically. There are more women on the site than men. This site is not fun or helpful. It has mostly been hurtful and insulting. The only good thing I can say about it is I have found only one scam artist on this site as opposed to many on others.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Elite, a cut above other UK sites? Don't think so.

By Ewa Larsson, United Kingdom, Verified Reviewer

This site is far away from "Elite" as you can get.

I have joined EliteSingles and have paid £149.70 ($194.03) for a six-month premium membership (unlimited communication and intelligent matchmaking - you get what their computer system thinks is suitable). You are not able to search for any matches on your own, take what is given to you and pay for its basis, with no search option what so ever.

This site promised that it has a disproportionate amount of graduate professionals and sophisticated singles, 71% to be precise. Everything about this site would suggest a higher caliber of potential mates, to cut a long story short, (shorter than the 30 minutes it took to fill out a multiple choice personality profile before joining).

Thirty minutes of questions asking questions then to be presented with seven potential matches, none of whom I remotely liked and not in line with what I would look for in a date, and to make matters worse, you can’t specify what you want; it’s all based on your personality and what their algorithm suggests for you.

I was looking forward to meeting sophisticated singles above the average, but my matches were carpenters, builders and truck drivers! These matches I was given I would expect to find on Match.com.

Once you were presented with totally unsuitable matches, you have to wait 24 hours for the next set of potentials to be emailed to you.

By day four they seemed to have run out of men, and I was not given any matches at all.

To add to their choices, they offer you a handful of wildcards each day, but unless you are willing to travel across the country for a date, you can also rule these ones out.

I’d give EliteSingles one star. It’s not Elite, it’s the most expensive at £69.95 (one-month membership Premium Light), and I think totally misleading in its ethos.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
