Eggs stick to Gotham Steel fry pan

By Linda, Sechelt, British Columbia, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I purchased the Gotham Steel frying pan on Sunday, January 15, using it yesterday for the first time. It was awesome. I cooked a piece of coated tilapia and simply rinsed everything off. But then, this morning, I fried a couple of eggs, and they totally stuck to the pan!

I tried phoning Emson's customer service and was given several options to connect, but none for Gotham steel.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

False claim!

By Joseph, Lathrup Village, MI, Verified Reviewer

I am wondering if it is the Gotham Steel Pan that I have because every time I cook eggs, cheese or anything else, food sticks to the pan. Or is it only that the pan I got has lost its non-stick quality?

I wish this review had an attachment option to attach a photo of what I meant in my review.

The pan was purchased at CVS (30920 Southfield Rd. Southfield, MI 48076).

A sticky topic after less than 5 months

By Roger Vienneau, New Brunswick, Canada, Verified Reviewer

As the title infers, the large pan that we bought (sometime last fall) make everything stick to it every time we use it.

Pan warped after six months, etc.

By Ron, New Jersey, Verified Reviewer

I originally purchased the small Gotham Steel frying pan about a year ago and was happy with it, so I purchased the 9.5" about six months ago.

I have never used a metal spatula or washed the pan with steel wool, but omelets continually stick to the pan now if you don't use oil. I put a straight edge on the bottom of the frying pan and noticed it is now concave by almost 3/32 of an inch. I did this because when I put oil in the pan, it runs off to the edge.

I would not recommend this product to either my friends or to my worst enemy.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Wish it lasted

By Glenda, Iowa, Verified Reviewer

The first few weeks I had it, it worked great! Then a month or so after I bought it, I noticed little chips in it (NO, I don't use metal utensils in it). It didn't stick then, but it did take a little rubbing to get it clean (not that hard stuck-on soak-type soaking). Now, I have to do overnight soaking to get it cleaned.

I am going to stick with WearEver. I called the Gotham company, and they offered to replace it if I paid for shipping and sent it to them, and waited the 6-8 week turn around. I loved it that first month or so, and I still like it, but I have just learned to use oil, butter, or Pam in it.

It did warp, but from what I understand that can happen with rapid temperature changes.

A year later, junk

By Jimmy, San Antonio, TX, Verified Reviewer

This thing worked great, for about a year, and I have only used it once or twice a week. Now everything sticks, even when using cooking spray or oil. But I guess for $20; you get what you pay for.

The only thing that doesn't stick are their claims

By Rachel, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I felt bad that my mom spent more than what she could afford on these pans for my Christmas gift.

The first month, I was thrilled and used them for everything. But now a lot of things stick, and mostly eggs. I've tried preheating it and using low heat, to no avail. I see from these reviews that these pans were not truthfully advertised. I went to the website for user tips, and it's just focused on selling their products.

They are not standing behind them. Someone got rich quick.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

No manufacturer data

By William Blair, Oregon, Verified Reviewer

I ordered almost $150 worth of pots and pans. They indicated that the order qualified for "free shipping" through FreeShipping.com, and my order should be received in 2-3 weeks. It's been almost a month (2/27/17), and no such delivery has been received. I called FreeShipping.com after a difficult time finding their number (Customer Service 1-800-869-5597), but they said it was up to Gotham Steel to ship them the order so they could then ship it to me.

Gotham Steel's number was similarly hard to find (Customer Service 888-326-0978). I called them, and they found my order in a computer, but that's all the help they could offer. Apparently, the manufacturer completes the order, then ships it to GothamSteel.com, who then ships to FreeShipping.com, who passes it through to the customer. I asked for a tracking number, but "They don't have that information."

I asked for the name of the manufacturer, and again, they had little information. A Google search shows limited manufacturer information, except through this site (highya.com). I have no pots or pans, and no information about who to go to about that, either.

Waste of money

By Cathy, Kansas, Verified Reviewer

I bought the big box set. The first time I used the Dutch oven on the stove top, it warped. And the large frying pan? I've used it twice. I have never used a metal utensil in it, never have put it in the dishwasher or used abrasive cleansing methods, but it has several scratch marks in it. It is almost as if it was boxed up that way in the factory.

I haven't had a problem with sticking, except where the handle is connected to the pan. Coating those two little areas would have been great. What also disappoints me is knowing I have to pay to send the defective products back and may or may not get a replacement.

I wouldn't recommend them.

Scratch and stick!

By Lori, Endicott, New York, Verified Reviewer

My Red Copper pans have scratches, which commercials claim they won't scratch, and my food sticks just as bad as any other pan I've used! I'm very disappointed.

Scratches

By Lisa Frost, New Brunswick, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I bought the frying pan. I do a lot of cooking and well within two weeks I noticed there are scratches on the pan. I thought it wasn't supposed to scratch.
