Worst pan I've ever had

By Josh Mckinnon, St. Catharines, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I received this pan for Christmas from my mom. I love cooking and loved everything it seemed to offer. It has been a nightmare ever since. On Christmas, it kind of stuck while making candied yams. Now today, on August 1st, it is sticking while making pancakes, even when using butter. Buy a "cheap" pan from Walmart; it'll last longer and work better. Terrible.

Don't believe the guarantee

By Lisa C, Utica, NY, Verified Reviewer

I bought one, and it seemed pretty good (at the time, it now sticks). So I recommended it to a relative. He bought it at a local store and the first time he used it for an egg, everything stuck and got burned.

So I called customer service since they boast a guarantee right? Well, the truth is unless you buy it on their website, pay for shipping, etc., the guarantee isn't for you. I was told to mail the pan with $9.95 to headquarters in New York to get a replacement pan. Wait, what? I have to PAY more for your bad pan and hope the replacement is better?

Companies that do stand by the product don't deserve good reputations. Steer clear of this one!

Bad, to say the least

By Richard Castagnoli, Boynton Beach, FL, Verified Reviewer

Some time ago my mother purchased Gotham Steel pans. I got the big 12-inch pan, the smaller 10-inch pan, a broiling pan with a glass lid, a square Gotham Steel with a fryer, and another Gotham Steel item that you can fry your items on the stove. After the first few weeks, the pans work great with no problems. I never cleaned them with anything but nylon cleaning brushes, nothing partial or abrasive. I used only this nonstick type of utensils on the pans and never used metal like they showed on TV.

After about a month the pans stop losing their non-stick ability, and from there on it got worse. I had to scrub really hard with the nonstick nylon sponges to get them clean. Then I noticed that it's in scratches, which started showing up in the pans that I use on a daily basis. After that, I got health issues and got very sick after using one of the pans. I stopped using the pans immediately I'm still having further issues, and I blame the manufacturer of Gotham Steel pans for this. When the surface starts chipping up, it gets into your system and causes serious health issues. I missed time at work and had bleeding and other issues.

The commercial did not emphasize anything about the way you can clean or use your pans, that they hold up regardless of how they are treated, but I did not treat them in the way they showed on the TV because I did not trust the TV commercial. I am going to look into further repercussions from this Gotham Steel manufacturers over this because I have missed time at work and have been very sick for several weeks.

Pasta pot/frying pan Gotham Steel

By Shari Bylow, Alberta, Canada, Verified Reviewer

Do not buy these products by Gotham Steel!

These are THE worst products on the market today! The handles on both pasta pot and the frying get HOT. We haven't had to worry about hot pot/pan handles since the 1970's! I burned my hand on the frying pan handle and burned my fingers on the lid of the pasta pot. I was SIMMERIMG chili in the pasta pot, and the lid BURNED my fingers! I am thinking about suing this company.

I'd give zero stars if I could. Everything sticks!

By Megan G, Gloucester, MA, Verified Reviewer

I bought the square and round fry pans for my boyfriend, who has been a cook for over ten years. Spent $50, which was a waste of money. Everything sticks, including eggs, veggies, meats, even when using oil and bacon fat, with the heat on low! False advertising. Warranty will cover, but you have to pay $10 for a new one. No thanks!

Not what is supposed to be?

By Larry Burke, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I bought the grill and got the fry pan. The interior coating started to break down, and the outer surface is so stained I cannot get it clean. This was not supposed to happen. So I do not think they have tested this product and their claims are false! And when you call their number you get NO answer. What a fraud.

Extremely disappointed

By Liz Stewart, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

We bought a Gotham Steel frying pan at Giant Tiger in Port Hope, Ontario. We used it for about two months, and scratches started appearing on the pan surface. We now have to spray the pan with nonstick spray to use it. Every time I see the commercial I cringe and think, "Nope, it is not that good." It was past the 30-day warranty so nothing I could do except tell everyone I know not to buy one.

Worst piece of junk ever!

By Nancy Papalardo, South Hadley, MA, Verified Reviewer

This pan sticks, scratches, and is difficult to clean. My pan is black in spots, and I can't get it clean. It also sticks terribly, so basically, I can't use it.

I called the company to ask how to send it back. I expected to be asked what was wrong with the pan, but I wasn't! I guess they get a lot of calls of this nature. I was told the address and to enclose a check or money order for $9.95 (this is for processing). I said, "So I have to send you a check for $9.95 and pay postage to get the pan to you? The pan is defective and does not function the way you said it would." Then I get basically another pan for the price that it would cost me to go buy one. I assume postage would be $10. So, for $20 I can have another WORST PAN EVER!

I asked the woman why I have to pay $9.95 for processing when I bought a product that was anything but what it claimed to be! She said that the company wants it that way. What? Are you kidding me! This is such a joke. So basically, if you return the pan you are actually buying another. I'm sure their profit margin is over 50%. However, even if it was only 50%, you would be purchasing another pan, so they lose no money and can give the guarantee without ever worrying about losing a dime on their horrible product!

Oh, on the ratings here are 1-5 stars, I wanted to put a negative five stars or at least no stars, but it wasn't an option.

Poor, I'd give no stars if able

By Dee Curran, West Palm Beach, FL, Verified Reviewer

I took a chance on the deep square pan. I never used any metal utensils or abrasive sponges while cooking or cleaning. After less than a month of use, anything I try to cook sticks to the pan. I called the manufacturer, and the best they could do was ask me to send in the paper that came with the pan that had my name and address along with $9.95 for a replacement pan. I'd already paid $40.00 for the pan.

Not so non stick

By Joseph Richter, Washington, UT, Verified Reviewer

I had great expectations for this pan after watching the demonstrations against on TV. When it first arrived, it performed exactly as advertised. After a few weeks of regular use, it lost all non-stick properties and scratches were clearly visible. Not recommended, as less expensive pans hold up better than the Gotham Steel.

Bad, sticks all the time

By Pauline Berry, Canada, Verified Reviewer

Bad frying pan, I hate it. It was false advertisement, can't cook eggs even with butter, they stick all the time. Unless there's something wrong with mine, it's real junk. I would not recommend it to anyone.
