Scam and rip off.

By Elizabeth Grilley , Las Vegas, NV

Does not matter how many times you call Lisa (she can't do anything - she is sweet but her hands are tied). The Wolf is Crystal. Watch out folks. This is one of the best rackets I have come across in years. They do not send the right sizes, they send winter clothes in summer and vice versa. If you cancel the service they still continue to bill you. Just when you think you have gotten rid of the Bee they come back and put a massive charge on your credit card.

Okay so I disputed it with my bank and they removed it and issued me a new card. Somehow Gwynnie charged my account another $680.52 again.

Now this is after I have canceled the service that they changed my card. And if that is not enough, they started with the monthly service again. This company should not be called Gwynnie Bee but Gwynnie Roach. You simply can not get rid of them.

Do yourself and your bank account a favor and shop anywhere else. In my honest opinion, they are the worst retailer on Planet Earth.

Just Crap

By Sarah J Bojorquez, Cincinnati, OH, Verified Reviewer

1. Clothes are crap - they are cheaply made and don't run true to any size.

2. Good luck canceling, It isn't going to happen. Canceled this, returned the clothes and over 6 months later out of the blue I am charged $180? Tried to call customer service 5 times to talk with someone, and of course no answer (spent 45 minutes on hold today!). So I disputed the charge with my credit card company and they billed me again. RUN away from this. Zero ethics.

Clothes are trash & customer service sucks.

In my one month trial I never got a single garment that I wanted. I had to add a lot of crap that I didn't want to my closet just to get them to sent me something. Everything I got was cheaply and poorly made. Half the time my stuff was delayed.

Beware! Rip off that steals your money.

By Babystang, CA, Verified Reviewer

I do not recommend! The worst company. I have been charged by them for one month service that I should never have been charged for. They were supposed to refund me and still over a week later they have not.

I signed up for GB for the free 30 day trial and spent 2 hours picking out more than 30 items for my closet since I kept getting the notification saying I needed more items in my closet before they start processing my shipment. Then it took two weeks to get my first item. I signed up for 3 items per week. This was not 3 items per week. Then after 2 weeks 3 items came but when I returned it, it took another week before they sent me anything else. So I barely was able to try their clothing.

The clothes they did send were either the wrong size from what I ordered or way too large or way too small. Some of the clothes were very worn and ratty. Before my 30 day trial was up I emailed them to ask if I could have another 30 days since I really didn't get to try their service. They denied me the extra time. I placed an order for their clothes they sell on sale and spent over 6 hours deciding what they had and what I wanted to order. I got an email confirming that I was charged and that they received my order.

Thank you for placing your order with Gwynnie Bee Shop! This email is to confirm your recent order.

Date 11/22/2016 Subtotal: $64.00 USD
State Tax: $4.16 USD
Shipping: $0.00 USD
Total: $68.16 USD

I also had to contact them because although I ordered a certain dress, in the email it had another dress.

I then called and canceled my 30 day trial with them. They never informed me that doing so would cause any problems.

Two days later I get an email stating that my order for the $68.16 had been canceled. I didn’t cancel it. I called them up and was told that since I canceled my 30 day membership trial they canceled my order. No one told me that. Yet they still charged me the next months membership. What a lie and rip off. When I canceled my account the money was then taken off my card. They still took the next months amount from my card and still have not refunded me that. They failed to send my clothes that I ordered and paid for. Do not shop with this company, it is a rip off and they lie to their customers. They take your money without your permission.

The sizes are wrong, the items you want are never available and whatever they felt like sending me was horribly old fashion and excessively worn out. In addition when I called to ask how come I didn't get any bottoms I was always told they were in repair. So all I received were tops that I had no use for and that looked like my granny.

REFUSED to do anything over the phone. I am STILL fighting with them to cancel the service. They had best not bill for the next month, or there is going to be problems. Calling them does not good whatsoever. Scam pure and simple! They claim subscriptions can be canceled at any time but that is a lie. I tried to cancel on Nov 21st and still they have not refunded me the money they stole from me. They claim they sent me a shirt that I never received. Even after I told them I never received the item they told me to return it. How the hell do I return something I never received?

Clothes are trash & customer service sucks. I had to add a lot of crap that I didn't want in my closet just to get them to send me something. Everything I got was cheaply and poorly made. Half the time my stuff was delayed. Half the time it was so worn and had runs and marks on the clothes.

They will cancel your order!

By Cassidy Maree, Verified Reviewer

If you purchase something in the Gwynnie Bee shop, your order will be canceled completely if you cancel your subscription.

My mother had bought me three dresses from the Gwynnie Bee shop from my account, and I canceled my subscription two weeks later. The dresses were never sent, and they told me they only ship the orders when they ship the subscription. So they want you to pay them monthly just to buy clothes from the shop. They literally held my mom's money for two weeks with no intentions on sending it unless I paid them $100 for another month of service.

Also, there were no warnings of any kind when checking out on the Gwynnie Bee shop page.

Not great

By Judy Neeb, Michigan, Verified Reviewer

This sounded like a great idea and I wanted to try this service. I selected some clothes I really wanted to try but never received them. Most of the items were sent back without ever wearing them. Then I was charged a day early for the service, and to cancel you must call in. Well, I now have to wait 7-10 days and then call back to receive my refund.

Apparently, I have nothing but time and am in charge of my own customer service. I called a day early to cancel, but they charged me, and now I have to wait on my own money. I would never recommend this company.

Not happy at all

By Brittany, Missouri, Verified Reviewer

I tried Gwynnie Bee for two months. It was awful. One item arrived stained, one the wrong size, one I didn't even add to my list, and another looked like it had been run over by a truck before being shoved in a bag and shipped to me. They supposedly inspect each garment, but yeah, I don't think they do.

They had a very limited selection of things that fit my personal style, and seriously, for the price for a few months you can buy a whole new wardrobe.

They have an excuse for everything

By Russelle, Columbus, OH, Verified Reviewer

I have been a Gwynnie Bee subscriber for some time, and thus I am locked into a pretty low price, which is the only reason I keep dealing with them. They literally have an excuse for everything and nothing is ever their fault. I feel like someone could psychologically profile this company.

I would never recommend it at the price level they are charging now. They are completely uninterested in customer satisfaction and retention. It is less irritating to go to the mall.

Do not try!

By Kristen, Seattle, WA, Verified Reviewer

Do NOT try Gwynnie Bee!

Don't fall for the free trial. I did the free trial and was not impressed. Clothes take forever to ship, so you only get one shipment a week. After the free trial was up I went to cancel my account. They talked me into continuing another month of my membership for a 50% discount to try them again, so I did.

The clothes were very worn, with waistbands folded over from other people wearing them. Also, a lot of them looked nothing like the pictures online. They pin their clothes to the models so often the style isn't even the same as it looks online. With a lot of the clothes I got, the fabric was very cheap feeling and often the higher end brands I put in my closet I never got in the mail. I hated that you don't get to choose what you want to be sent to you; you just add items you like to your closet, and they send whatever is available, which will never be pieces that coincide with each other to make an outfit. It definitely felt like the less cute things by unknown brands were what was sent to me, and higher demand things are probably never available.

Thus, after seeing no improvement the second month I tried them, I went to cancel my account and was charged another month because I couldn't get through to them in time. FYI, you can't cancel online. They only let you call to cancel and only during business hours. They are EST, and I am PST. So, their business hours are early in the day for me when I am at work. Very unreasonable that you cannot cancel by email or online. I have to take time out of my job to call this stupid place which is really frustrating. Their customer service is pretty much useless and nonexistent.

Now onto the prices. The prices are insane! I had to pay $53.31 after tax for one item out at a time, which with slow shipping came down to one item a week. I could buy a whole new outfit with that and cuter clothes at other places I shop. The other plans go up to $69 for two items + tax and $95 for three items + tax.

There is no freaking way this business is going to be around much longer unless someone else buys it and does a huge makeover on the business. Most likely some other company will just be better at what Gwynnie Bee is trying to attempt and put them out of business. Heed our advice ladies, and try somewhere else. Stitch Fix now has plus-size options, and it's only $20 to get five items personally styled for you, buy what you like and send back what you don't. Also, you can get boxes when you want them does not have to be reoccurring. Very convenient.

If they actually did what they promised, it would be good

By Frank Stewart, Los Angeles, CA, Verified Reviewer

I bought a 3-item subscription for my wife for Christmas.

At first, it was OK. She got a couple of sweaters she liked. Then, she got some stuff that was stained. Gross. They promote how much they check and clean the clothes, but that's all hype. Then a few months went by, and I hadn't seen my wife get any new clothes. I asked her, "What happened to Gwynnie Bee?" She said they had stopped sending her clothes. I checked my bank statements to find they were super-efficient at taking money from my account but had lost interest in actually providing the service.

My wife called to find out what was wrong. They blamed my wife and said she didn't have enough clothes selected. They never notified her. They just stopped shipping clothes. Where I come from, there's a word for taking someone's money in exchange for nothing. It's called "stealing." I feel bad that my wife's present turned out to be a dud.

Not worth the money!

By Kimberly Samard, Salem, OR, Verified Reviewer

I was very excited to try this, but ended very disappointed. First of all, you choose items, two of them arrive and for me out of two months worth of items. ONE actually fit correctly, and I was able to wear. All others were terrible or came damaged. When I say all others, there were only six items in two months!

I would receive the items, try on and send back the same day. Complete the online saying they were sent back and wait usually 2-3 weeks or longer to receive another two! I tried to cancel my "membership," and it was one day after my 30-day trial. When I called, I was told if I canceled I could not receive anything or finish out the month I just paid for! They will not just close at the end of the month you paid for, ONLY on the DAY you contact them. So you risk having to pay for another month, or you throw away $69.00!

Not a good business practice. Never heard of such a thing.

Do not fall for this!

By Theresa Honsinger, Tucson, AZ, Verified Reviewer

My boyfriend saw the ad on TV, and I decided to try it.

I started out with one item and months and months later, I realized it wasn't for me. So I emailed to cancel my subscription, and I was told that my bank account would no longer be charged. Since I have been paying the monthly fee all these months, over 6 months time, the dress should be considered mine, since I ordered no other items.

I went into my bank account and saw they had continued to take the monthly fee out after it had been canceled. I just called and was told all the many points I had earned in an attempt to get me to stay with them. When I said I just want to cancel, I was then told I would have to return the one dress by the 19th. I argued that point since I have paid probably over $1000 in subscription fees and never ordered but one item!

My fault for not staying on top of this, but this company is a rip-off. Do not fall for it!

All bad; products, customer service, pricing. All of it is horrible.

By Sheena Sanders, Texas, Verified Reviewer

All of the clothing sent to me appeared extremely worn out. I never wore a single piece.

When I called to cancel, their customer service was incredibly cocky and condescending. They wouldn't accommodate my request to get the monthly membership reversed (charged yesterday) and cancel my membership because not only do I feel as though this membership just isn't for me but also, I'm a recently unemployed, single mother, affected by hurricane Harvey (unfortunately completely accurate). I was quickly told, "we don't do that." Though, even if I was employed, $80 a month for clothes the Goodwill wouldn't even sell is ridiculous and outrageous.

Most expensive garage sale in the world!

Poor on all accounts

By Jennie Robles, California, Verified Reviewer

Terribly run company. The price point is high to "borrow" two low-priced garments. You cannot cancel on the website. If you cancel in the middle of a billing period, you lose the days you already paid for. You must call on the last day of the billing cycle to avoid this. And of course, the wait is long to get someone on the phone. Save yourself a headache and skip this one.

Scam

By Kelly Owen, Palm Bay, FL, Verified Reviewer

I signed up for Gwynnie Bee at the recommendation of a friend. We have both discontinued service at this point.

I received my first order and neither product fit right. I'm horrible about returning things, and it wouldn't fit in my mailbox, so I rode around with the clothes (unworn and packaged) in my car for two months. Finally, I called and had the service canceled. At this point, I've already been billed twice, and they said they had to bill me a third time because I didn't give enough notice. This means that I have already spent $270 on two items.

My service was discontinued in January. I know have two additional charges on my account from them. One is for $36 and the other is for $111. I have paid more than five times what either of these items is worth. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Not much value

By Donna T., Michigan, Verified Reviewer

Expensive subscription service for mediocre clothes. Plus if you want to purchase the items they send you the costs are prohibitive. Additionally, they ask you to fill out a clothing profile and don't send what you have asked for. It's a shame that this company feels they can charge first and then attempt to deliver after and what they deliver is not what you asked for.

Go with another option

By Robin T., Oxford, NC, Verified Reviewer

First, Gwynnie Bee does not care about its customers. I used the service and canceled and then decided to try again. Gwynnie Bee charged me for months I was not using the service. I emailed them and they would not refund the amount when I was not getting clothes. Gwynnie Bee is supposed to send your next shipment as soon as you have returned the current shipment. This has not been done. Sometimes there is a week lapse between returning and getting a new shipment. I have emailed about this as well, and nothing changed. Finally, there have been times when I don’t think the clothes were cleaned properly. I use other companies and do not have this problem.

Not worth the money or time to cancel

By Nora F., Chicago, IL, Verified Reviewer

I would not sign up for this service. It is not worth the cost, and it is much more difficult to cancel than it is to sign up. Due to the delay time between sending out shipments takes so long that even if you wear an item the day it is shipped to you, then notify them that night that you are returning it you will only get maybe 3-4 items a month. Out of those 3-4 items I only really like half of them. I've bought a few items, but the discounted price of 15% or so, isn’t worth the cost of the subscription.

Also, it is really easy to sign up online, but you cannot cancel online. If you work normal business hours, you’ll have to take time off work to do it or do it over your lunch break because you can only cancel during business hours. I have a class I take during my lunch hour, so it took me a while to find time to call when the office was slow. When you do call, it is an automated phone line and there isn’t an immediate option to cancel your membership, so you’re going to have to hold for a while to talk to someone, and when you talk to someone, it will take several minutes to ask silly questions like "was the problem the material?"

Anyway, unless you have a lot of free time and money to waste, I wouldn’t sign up.

Can't quit

By Alexa L., Louisiana, Verified Reviewer

I had it for a few months, and then the service randomly stopped without notice. It wasn't being billed so I didn't worry about it. Then the service randomly started up again several months later. They won't let you change the email on the site or quit from the website. It takes far too long for the next pieces to ship and arrive, this limits severely how many you can borrow during a month. This isn't worth the money.

Horrible service

By Tracey V., Florida, Verified Reviewer

I signed up for the free trial. It says on their website you will not be charged for thirty days. Not so free. I was charged immediately upon signing up for $74. It hit my bank immediately. When I complained, they said the money was being "held" until my trial was up and then if I decided to continue I'd be "charged." Umm, if I can't access the funds, as far as I'm concerned, you took my money. That's a week of groceries for me. Some people don't have three or four days to wait until "the bank refunds you upon cancellation." What a rip-off. They are liars.

Don't do it, it's a scam!

By Alicia J., New York, Verified Reviewer

I wish I had read the reviews on this site before trying Gwynnie Bee, as many people have had the same negative experience. I have tried lots of different subscription boxes, including clothes, food and beauty products, and this is the ONLY one I've ever had a bad experience with.

Overall, the clothes were meh. It is nice that they have a selection for larger sizes. But out of the several shipments I got over my month-long trial, I only wore one piece out.

I then canceled the subscription as I had planned to do after the trial period. No problems.

Fast forward to two months later when I see a charge for $86 from Gwynnie Bee on my statement. I called and they said they hadn't received a shipment of 2 dresses that I had sent back to them with their shipping label. On that phone call, they stated they would "look around the warehouse" and if still not found, would open a ticket with USPS to look for the package.

The following day I received an email asking about my customer service experience, and when I clicked on it, the site stated the ticket had already been closed and that I could not comment on it.

After waiting two weeks with no response, I called back. Again the rep stated they would look around the warehouse. I said that wouldn't be necessary, as they'd already done that and not gotten back to me. I asked if they keep the details of the return shipping labels they send out, and she said yes. I asked why they couldn't just track the label since they have it on file. She said it was my responsibility to provide it, and they couldn't do anything else. I asked to speak with a supervisor, was told there were none in the building, and that I would get a call back from one within 24-48 hours.

When (SHOCKER) I had not received a call back from management within the promised time, I called back yet again. This time they gave me a ticket #, said it was being escalated, and again to expect a call from a supervisor. I'm not holding my breath.

TL;DR - They charged me for items I returned with their shipping label. Per other reviews on this page, this seems like a common occurrence that the company should have resolved by now. Instead of apologizing and returning my money, they have given me the runaround. I'm going on three weeks of fighting with them for a refund. If my money is not returned soon, I will have to work with my bank to reverse the charges.

I will be sure to tell my friends and family to stay away from this business, as well as leaving this review everywhere I can. I am also going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, at https://www.bbb.org/ and encourage anyone who's had a similar experience to do the same.

Hard to find items to closet

By Michaelann F., Northern, NJ, Verified Reviewer

I have been a member for two years and in the beginning, I was very pleased with the service and selection. Currently, I struggle to find enough items to fill my virtual closet and keep shipments coming regularly. It seems that if I put something in the closet that I don’t really love, that’s always the item I get first. Maybe supply is not keeping up with demand? I’ve had items in the closet for over a year and never received them, even if prioritized. If the item is no longer available, why let it sit in my closet?

Billing

By Nicoke G., Houston, TX, Verified Reviewer

I've stated on more than one occasion that this company has been taking $75 out of my account for the last three years and I've only had one outfit delivered to me due to the point that during the Hurricane Harvey incident, I was unable to locate those items and the company still continued to bill me. I have found those items, and I do not want the service anymore. I have asked for a box be sent to me so I can return the two items that I received almost 4 years ago, and I would never say that this company has a compassionate heart because they don't. They have again taken $75 out for almost 48 months and I've only received one outfit.

Miserable failure this holiday season

By Abi H., Utah, Verified Reviewer

I had been a fan of Gwynnie Bee, but they have been an utter failure this holiday season. Like a lot of people, I have a Christmas party every day of this week. I knew a holiday party week was coming, so I returned my last items early (December 10th and 11th). It's now December 19th. I have not received a new shipment, nor has the next shipment shipped out. With the weekend and holiday coming up, I think it is realistic to guess that I will not have had a Gwynnie Bee item in hand from December 11th until December 26th. That is, literally, the two weeks of the year when this service would provide the most value to me. Total disappointment.

Epic failure for holiday dresses.

Horrible company. Beware of extra charges.

By Irina E., Houston, TX, Verified Reviewer

I wanted to cancel my Gwynnie Bee account, so they charged me extra month right away.

I had to get BBB involved to fight extra charges, then they responded to BBB that they will refund me but delayed the processing. When they finally process the refund, it was just PARTIAL refund.

Horrible company - I’m never coming back and I would not recommend this company to anyone.

The condition of clothes is also quite poor, and cloth prioritization never worked with them.
