Such a waste of money

By Samantha, Iowa, Verified Reviewer

I've worn contacts for about 10 years and have previously always gone for the month-long lenses. However, as a college student, dropping $150-$250 at a time at my vision center for a year supply (not including the yearly eye exam costs for a valid prescription) doesn't always seem very practical for my budget. So, I was in need of a "cheaper" alternative and recognized Hubble as "that one company that always has those TV ads for cheap daily contacts." I really liked the concept of a subscription-based contact lens service because presumably, you spend way less at one time than you would have to spend with other options, so I decided to give it a shot.

First of all, Hubble Contacts are NOT cheaper than regular contact lenses, assuming you want the cheapest option available for lenses. Hubble will cost you around $35 per month (including shipping fees). 35 x 12 = $420 per year. After I did more research, I have definitely managed to find sites that sell some month-long contact lenses for the SAME price as Hubble even on a monthly basis, and that's for 2 boxes of 6 (for left and right eye). That means if you use Hubble you are spending roughly the same amount on lenses for a ONE-month supply that you could be spending for a SIX-month supply if you chose monthly lenses (depending on the brand of course). That fact alone should repel you from paying for this total scam of a subscription service, especially since the whole concept is centered around "contacts are too expensive and we are the solution." But wait! There's more!

These are SO uncomfortable. When they came in the mail and I put them in my eyes for the first time, I literally couldn't tell if they were inside-out or if I had received the wrong prescription or something because they were so dry and blurry right after putting them in. They feel exactly like what 2-week lenses feel like if you were to use the same pair every day for 3 months. If you rub your eye, they fall right out. If you keep your eyes open without blinking for 5 seconds, they go blurry. There's no way I can wear these lenses for more than 4 hours max.

Honestly, save your money and look for month-long lens options on 1-800 Contacts or Lens.com. The concept of Hubble is great, but the price and garbage quality almost couldn't be worse. The only reason I'm giving Hubble 2 stars instead of 1 is because they give you the free trial period of 15 days of lenses, you just pay the $3 for shipping. However, I want my $3 back.

Very misleading

By Thomas P Fefer, California, Verified Reviewer

Nothing in the online introductory materials indicated that these lenses cannot accommodate an Rx with astigmatism. They claim that you can have astigmatism up to a -1.00 and still have effective eyesight using lenses without an astigmatic correction. This is not good medical advice.

It wasn't until I got a message back indicating my order had shipped that I realized that they never called my OD, never got my full prescription, and never cared to clarify the limits of their product.

Shame on Hubble.

Never got refund

By Cheryl, Las Vegas, NV, Verified Reviewer

I tried the contacts for 30 days and was not impressed. I thought they were a very low-grade product.

Then they took the $30 out of my account the day after I had canceled my subscription. When I received the box of contacts I did exactly what they told me to do - I didn't open the box and wrote Return to Sender on the box and put it in the mail. They said they never got the box back. I even sent them a copy of the box where I wrote on it.

Overall bad experience and I would not recommend Hubble to anyone, and it's really not much cheaper.

Cheap, but you get what you pay for.

By Marilynn B, Denver, CO, Verified Reviewer

Prior to Hubble, I was spending about $100 every 6 months on bi-weekly contacts which was not a bad deal, but I was liking the idea of being able to just simply toss out a pair of contacts for a fresh pair the next morning. Also, it's not always easy to just put $100 out of your pocket.

So, in a moment of "oh crap, I have a week left of contacts and no more money," I came across a Hubble ad on a social media site I visit, saw they were offering 2 weeks free, and decided to give it a try. I have mild astigmatism in one eye (which has otherwise prevented me from getting other brands of dailies before), so was a bit hesitant, but I read that in some folks, it's not a problem, and I signed up.

Once I got my package, I popped a pair in, and sure enough, the one eye with astigmatism did feel a little uncomfortable, but that sensation did eventually go away. I have been using Hubble for about 6 months now, and it has been working well, up until the last few months.

Anymore, by 6 or 7 at night, my eyes are so dry and hurt so bad that I absolutely have to take the contacts out. Often times, it is irritating all day, not just at night, making it difficult for me to work. I have tried a few different brands of eye drops for contacts, and not one has been able to relieve the discomfort. Then, once they're taken out, my eyeballs have a strange sensation of sensitivity, almost like when you wear socks all day and finally take them off (the feeling of your feet, but on your eyes instead). It's definitely nothing I've felt with my other brands of contacts, so I can only assume it's because the lenses don't allow your eyes to get much O2.

All in all, Hubble certainly is not horrible, and they are an inexpensive option for daily lenses, but I will have to either give up and go back to bi-weekly lenses or shell out big bucks for a bigger brand, but I just cannot pay for any more Hubble Contacts.

Bad business

By Michelle Suttenberg, Southington, CT, Verified Reviewer

Worst customer service. Do NOT order from this company! Contacts are flimsy and not worth it. Also, it took them 5 minutes to take my money and it is now almost 2 months after I canceled and I still have not received my refund after following their instructions for canceling to the T. Bad bad business!

Canceled account

By Peter Wise, Clearlake, CA, Verified Reviewer

I canceled my account last year, October of 2017. They started charging my account again in January of 2018. I cannot get through to them to stop this. My bank called and a formal complaint was filed. I cannot get thru via email. I canceled last year via phone, but cannot get through via phone or email.

Uncomfortable contacts and website is horrible

By Jannelle Jimenez, California, Verified Reviewer

I get headaches from wearing these all day. I also tried to log in to see my subscription but it says I have no orders, then there's a charge on my account?! I call to see what's going on and they say "check your subscription tab." Yes, I did, and nothing. Then he says "you will receive your subscription in 3-5 business days" and I tell them no, I want to cancel instead. ALSO, they said they sent a confirmation email for the cancellation and all I get is a "review your call" email. Not a good experience.

No reimbursement

By Karen Wilson, Canada, Verified Reviewer

All my dealings with Hubble at first we uneventful. I thought I had canceled my recurring order and when I received my February shipment, I called and canceled my order. They were very helpful with cancelling and assured me if I returned my last order I would be reimbursed.

I returned it by courier with a tracking number and have sent three emails following the return and have not had a response two month later. My thoughts are, do not spend the money because if there are issues with your order, you cannot get reimbursed.

I will gladly rewrite a review once I am reimbursed.

BC only 8.6

By Amber McDermott, Kansas City, MO, Verified Reviewer

Hubble does not inform you that they only carry their contacts in a BC of 8.6. When I contacted them to ask for a refund, they told me I should have searched their website to find where it says this. When placing the order, they inform you they will contact your optometrist to verify the correct prescription. Even after verification they still send out the incorrect lenses and now refuse to refund my money. The contacts have not even been used, just the shipping package has been opened. Absolute scam!

Sent incorrect prescription, never received refunds, terrible costumer service

By Stefanie S., Georgia, Verified Reviewer

I submitted my prescription and doctor information to the website for a free trial. I got the trial lens in the mail, and neither eye had the correct prescription. I emailed right away and was informed that they did not have my prescription available. Instead of canceling my prescription through the support emails, they informed me that I had to call to cancel. I forgot and received a few more boxes in the mail. As soon as I received them, I wrote "return to sender" on them (per their instruction) and dropped each box in the mailbox. Hubble says they have not received any of my boxes back even though it had been months. This company is a scam. They refuse to issue refunds until they receive the boxes which seem to have been lost in the mail. Someone is getting rich off others' misfortune with this company.

Horrible contacts, even worse customer service!

By B G., USA, Verified Reviewer

Don't waste your money. This company has awful customer service, appears to be a bunch of dummies that can't comprehend simple English, and they give you the runaround about the crappy quality of their product and make it difficult to cancel service. Get them anywhere but here. A terrible company to deal with and horrible customer service!

I would give them zero stars if I could!
