Terrible company and product

By Mike Z., Chicago, IL, Verified Reviewer

I purchased these jeans 1.5 years ago and the jeans bled through and created an imprint of my phone in both of the pockets. Cheap material at a cheap company. They don’t care about their customers. I tried reaching out to them several times and no response. I wouldn’t buy from this company!

Length of Use: 1–2 years

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

No “pros” were specified in this review

Terrible customer service

Cheap product

High price and low quality

Jeans aren’t supposed to do this.

By Gabriel C., New York, Verified Reviewer

One wash and jeans are already teetered on the small side (due to bad sizing metrics) and now these jeans have shrunk beyond wearability. These things look ridiculous and would serve more like tights than jeans. Customer service is abysmal so good luck getting anywhere, this is a company that is slinging crappy denim for a huge markup. Don’t believe the hype, these are the worst.

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Good colors

Bad fit

Terrible quality

Poor customer service

Company Response from Mott & Bow, Inc.

Jan 29, 2021

Hi Gabriel, we're so sorry to hear your jeans shrunk. Most of our denim is pre-shrunk, except for our raw jeans. The Oliver - Raw jeans you tried are one of these raw styles which have never been washed. Unfortunately, these shrink if placed in the dryer. We also have the Oliver in non-raw (Oliver Dark Blue). For future orders, we recommend washing the jeans in cold water, inside out, and hanging them to dry.

Order a size smaller than you wear

By Kristin D., Arcata, CA, Verified Reviewer

These are not worth the money at all. They do look really cute and I was really happy with them but after a couple of wears and a wash (in cold water inside out as they recommend), they are stretched out to be at least a whole size bigger than they came. I emailed them about this and they said that's what happens with "premium denim". This is not premium denim, but they would be good jeans if I had ordered a size smaller. They really need to put this disclaimer on their website.

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Fit was originally great until they stretched out

Style and color are great

Comfortable

Pants stretch out after wearing/washing only a few times to a whole size bigger

Denim is thin and does not seem durable, definitely not "premium denim"

Don't buy Mott & Bow jeans

By Ron S., Melbourne, Australia, Verified Reviewer

Bought a pair of straight jeans in my normal size. Loved them at first, even thought they were a bit tight. I thought with wear they would loosen up a bit. After one wash, they shrunk at least a size if not more. Unwearable. I've washed other jeans hundreds of times using the same settings. Mott & Bow are the only brand that shrunk. I let them know and was offered 25% and then 50% (after pushing for a replacement pair) off the next purchase. Turned them down...why risk more money on such a poor-quality product.

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Color (stone) was great

Shrunk beyond being wearable on first wash

Unsatisfactory support for replacement

Fake return and exchange policy

By Yannis R., North Carolina, Verified Reviewer

I was disappointed by their product, so I requested a return. They offered me a store credit and free shipping if I decide to make an exchange instead of a return. I accepted, and they ended up charging me for both the return and did not honor the store credit. They apply used car dealership schemes. Exercise caution if you are planning to buy something from Mott & Bow.

Non-existent customer service

By Marilynn C. , Silver Spring, MD

I ordered a pair of jeans in January, the last tracking info says they are in Chicago and have been there 8 days with no movement, it would appear, and no shipping date. I originally was given a delivery date of last Wednesday, never happened. I have now sent 5 emails with no reply and have called repeatedly today only to get a message saying they are having technical difficulties. I should have read reviews before ordering, they all say the same thing. I will be notifying my bank that this is a scam/fraud and hope to get my money back.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

No customer service available either by phone or email

Don't deserve your business

By Rich G. , Montclair, NJ

I bought 6 pairs of jeans in December. Two of them fit differently. I intended to return them but my entire family got COVID. When things got back to normal, I went online to initiate a refund, but it was 4 days past the 30 day return date. Customer service refused to issue a refund. Instead, they offered store credit. I gave them another opportunity to reconsider under the circumstances. They would not.

Why buy from them when there are dozens of other options, and less expensive ones. The jeans shrink badly over time. The pants' cut is inconsistent. The return policy is inflexible. And they really don't give a crap about their customers. I will never use the store credit out of principle and am telling as many people as possible to buy their clothes elsewhere.

Length of Use: 6–12 months

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Initially pants fit well, liked the stretch

Inflexible return policy for online merchant and no consideration

Shrinks noticeably over time

Cut of pants varies

Defective rivets, two pairs in a row!

By Melissa v. , Seattle, WA

I decided to try Mott & Bow jeans after seeing their ads on Instagram. I ordered their Women's Boyfriend jeans. At first, I mostly felt good about them, although the sizing seemed a bit large and off. But after wearing them a couple of times, I noticed the left pocket rivet was ripped out of the material. Actually almost sliced, like there was an issue with manufacturing.

I reached out to M&B customer service and they asked for a photo, which I sent. They said no problem, they're sending another pair.

I received the second pair and sized down one size, which fit better. However, after wearing twice, one of the left pocket rivets fell apart while I was wearing them. The inside part was caught in the leg of the jean, and the outside piece fell onto the chair I was sitting in.

I've reached out to customer service again, this weekend. We'll see what they suggest. But I'm about done with this brand.

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Reasonable price

Fit is okay

Poor quality rivets

Poor quality control

Poor quality overall

They now ship used instead of new clothing. Super shady!

By Myob M. , New York

Bought two pairs of NEW jeans. Received used with no labels, tags, or wrapping. If I wanted used, returned, washed, and re-shipped jeans I would have paid $20 at Salvation Army. Totally unacceptable for a “premium” brand. Quality control has gone down the tube.

Length of Use: 2+ years

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Pros and Cons

Clothing

They ship used return items

Deceptive business practices and terrible customer service

By Alison H., Gerringong, Australia, Verified Reviewer

Be warned that they advertise their products in just $ and not USD $, even when you change your region and live in Australia, where we also use the $. Apparently, you are supposed to check their FAQ to know that, according to their customer service team. Except that’s illegal here and I will be reporting them to Fair Trading. Also, the t-shirts are very poor quality. They are only suitable for very short people — I am 5’10” and the lowest point of the v-neck is absurdly high and sits strangely. I think these would be a very high-necked t-shirt even on a short person. The fabric also doesn’t breathe well and they are unpleasant to wear in any kind of humidity. They also took over 3 weeks to arrive.
