Navage Nose Cleaner Review: Is It Worth It

The Navage Nose Cleaner promises to deliver safe, drug-free relief from allergies and other sinus problems without unpleasant side effects like drowsiness. It works to relieve congestion symptoms like a runny nose, sneezing, stuffiness, sinus headaches, and more.

Used regularly, the company claims that the nose cleaner will help you reduce your reliance on allergy meds while helping you breathe and feel better.

In this analysis, we take a detailed look at its effectiveness to help you decide if this product is right for you.

How the Navage Nose Cleaner Works

The Navage Nose Cleaner system works by sending a saline solution mixed with warm water through one nostril, around the back of your nasal cavity, and through your nasal septum to follow back through the other one.

This process is known as nasal irrigation or a sinus flush, and it is considered a safe and effective treatment for sinus irritation and nasal congestion.

As the saltwater blend travels through your nasal passages, it washes away allergens and other irritants and moistens your mucous membranes for immediate relief.

Those with chronic sinus problems can benefit from regular nasal irrigation. One 2009 study found that participants who did one daily experienced a 64 percent improvement in their symptoms and a significant improvement in their overall quality of life.

Using the Navage Nose Cleaner should take between 10 seconds to a minute per session, depending on how congested you are. You’ll know that the session is complete when the cleaner’s upper tank is empty.

You shouldn’t feel anything during the irrigation process, though you should notice immediate relief from sinus congestion afterward. For best results, change which nostril you start with at least once a week.

As the Navage system is an all-natural, drug-free treatment, it’s safe to use as often as desired. However, the company suggests new users use it twice a day to get a sense of what it feels like to have fully opened sinuses. After a few weeks of use, you can adjust how often you need to use it.

Many people find that they use the cleaner a few times a month for most of the year but that they need to use it up to three times a day during the heavy pollen season.

After each use of this sinus cleansing system, you should detach and clean both tanks as well as the nose pillows and nasal dock with anti-bacterial dishwashing soap. Rinse the crushing chamber under hot water for 30 seconds, and rinse the drain and drain type by running hot water through it.

Sharing the Navage Nose Cleaner System

Though Navage states that its nose cleaner system is designed to make it difficult to transmit germs from one user to another, the best practice from a hygienic perspective is for each user to have their own device.

Those who prefer to share should each have a Dock-Nose Pillow combo (sold for $10.95 each), which can easily be interchanged on the system for each user.

Navage Nose SaltPods

The Navage Nasal Care system is designed for use with the company’s SaltPods. These saline concentrate capsules are formulated with sea salt and water, and they burst open when you place them in the Nose Cleaner crushing chamber and close the lip.

This causes the liquid they contain with the warm water in the system’s upper tank, which creates an optimized ratio of salt to water that is identical to what occurs naturally in your body.

All Navage SaltPods are manufactured in Cleveland and comply with international standards for medical device manufacturing. You should plan on using one SaltPod every time you use the Navage System.

Though the company recommends only using their brand of SaltPods in the Navage system, there are online hacks for making your own, most of which involve combining distilled water and pickling salts and pouring the solution where the pods go. (This video shows full instructions.)

You can irritate your nose if you don’t use the right ratios of salt to water in your saline solution, so practice caution when testing out a DIY method. Likewise, using the device without SaltPods will void your warranty.

Analysis of Customer Reviews

More than 30 customers have left reviews on the Navage Nose Cleaner on our website, averaging 3.7 stars overall. On CVS, the device averages 4.4 stars. Here’s what customers were saying:

Great Sinus Cleanser

Many customers loved how well this device worked. Many shared that it cleared up their sinuses better than their allergy medication and that they immediately felt better after using it.

While some stated that it was the most expensive sinus-clearing technique they tried, they found it to be the most effective.

Reduces Snoring

Beyond alleviating allergy symptoms, Navage Nose Cleaner users shared that the system improved their breathing to the point that they stopped snoring and waking up in the middle of the night. Many credited the device with improving their sleep.

Creates a Chocking Sensation

Many customers shared that the cleaner seemed to work, but that they couldn’t use it because it made them feel like they were chocking with every use.

Doesn’t Work as Promised

In several cases, customers complained that they couldn’t get the cleaner to work, even after troubleshooting with the company.

They wrote that the SaltPods didn’t break up and that the water didn’t travel through the chambers adequately, and that they got better results from a cheaper Vicks inhaler. Others shared that the suction around their nose failed after a few uses.

Salt Pods Too Expensive

For many people, the biggest drawback to the Navage Nose Cleaner was the cost of the SaltPods. Users shared that they wanted to use the device more often but that the price per use was too high to justify it.

Key Takeaways

Allergy sufferers and chronic snorers find that the Navage Nose Cleaner clears up their sinuses better than most other options.

However, this system is bulky and more expensive than other sinus cleansers, so those with mild to moderate sinus problems might prefer an alternative.

The Bottom Line

For those suffering from a chronic stuffy nose, the Navage Nose Cleaner is a drug-free, side-effect-free way to find some relief.

So long as you can commit to buying SaltPods and thoroughly cleaning it between use, the cleaner is a quick way to improve your breathing and bring you relief from allergies.

Just keep in mind that there are other, less expensive options available for sinus cleansing, such as the Neti Pot.

If you are an extreme allergy sufferer who could foreseeably benefit from sinus cleansing every day, then the Navage Nose Cleaner makes sense.

Review for two days of use.

By Tom H , Winston-Salem, NC

This is now my second day using this system. The very first time I used it, I was not impressed. My head was really stuffy and the machine had a difficult time getting a vacuum. I have used the machine four times as of this morning. It is working fantastically and I could not be more pleased with the results. My nasal drip and congestion has almost ceased. I will update this post next week.

Excellent

By Lisa, Providence, RI, Verified Reviewer

I suffer from allergies, I'm always getting bad headaches, and sinus infections. I was miserable. I took allergy pills, Flonase, flushed my sinuses, Sudafed, pain medication and still the problems would continue. Then one day I seen the commercial for Navage, I read the reviews and they seemed believable, so I ordered it. I will tell you this, whoever invented this, you are my savior. I have never felt better. No more pain, no more infections, I barely used my allergy medication (only on high pollen days). If I have pressure starting to build up, I use it and it relieves the pain, if my nose is stuffed I use it and it clears me up. Thank you.

It's about time!

By Pamela M. Smith, Orlando, FL, Verified Reviewer

I bought this system mainly because nothing else worked. I thought that if this didn't help, nothing ever would. I suffer from chronic sinusitis and living in Florida can be hell for breathing. The heat is one thing but the rainy season sends my nose into orbit. Itchy eyes, runny nose or stopped up all together, that's my life and oh yeah, I'm also an asthmatic.

Well, day one with Navage and wow. Yeah, wow. It was a little freaky seeing what's in your nose but it is so great not having it up in there! I use the system every other day and if I forget and miss a treatment, boy will my nose let me know it. I can breathe again and have not had one sinus infection all year. Hands down, this is the best thing I ever bought. You would be crazy not to purchase this product.

Excellent Product!

By Deep Sran, Chino Hills, CA, Verified Reviewer

I have suffered from sinus congestion and allergies for as long as I can remember. I have used the NetiPod, NeilMed Sinus Rinse and various allergy medications. However, any relief I received was temporary. In hopes of finally clearing my sinuses, I purchased the Navage and it did not disappoint! For anyone who has used a NetiPod or Sinus Rinse, you know the mess it can make, the Navage does not make a mess. Using the Navage may take a couple attempts to get used to but once you get comfortable with it, you'll be amazed. I have been using mine for over a month and have noticed a significant change in my sinuses. I would recommend this product to a friend and have bought one for my dad.

Navage

By Loreanne, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I have suffered from a deviated septum and constant every season post nasal drip which I've tried to treat with sinus pills, cough syrup, puffers, nasal sprays, etc.

I had a pituitary tumor removed through my nose years ago and was supposed to irrigate with a Neti pot but never did get the procedure right. The Navage does the work and does it well.

I saw the Navage nose cleaner and decided to give it a try. This is my third day of doing it twice each day and I can't praise it enough! I can smell things I haven't smelled in many years and breathe through my nose. I no longer feel stuffed up and I add 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar for an antibacterial.

I know the saline pods are pricey but my health is more important and the medications I tried didn't help like this.

Shocked it worked the first time

By Michael, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I received the unit yesterday and set it up. I had watched many of the videos made by other users on YouTube, and it properly psyched me out. What did I get into?

Fortunately, many of the users just didn't seem to read the instructions, which resulted in the often hilarious looking videos. Use warm water and say "ahhhhhh." Don't try to talk when it is running. I was shocked that I barely felt anything when it was running and before I knew it, it was finished. I blew my nose, and there was certainly no mess on the counter.

The suction is the key.

By Chris Griffith, Virginia, Verified Reviewer

Like the others, I have problems year around. I'm alergic to something in every season, and nothing I have tried has worked, and I believe I've tried them all; Flonase, Naslicrom, Singular, Zyrtec, all the other stuff, the list is extensive, but you get the point. I've used Neti Pots without much success. I used one of those squeeze bottles and had a bit better luck, but still left wanting.

Then I bought the Navage. Wow, what a difference. The gentle suction makes all the difference because I can hold my head upright and the water gets all the way to the back of my lower sinus where it really had trouble getting to before. As they say, it's better to pull than try to push the mucus out. Now I'm breathing better than I ever had in my life.

There is another product I like to use sometimes in the water called Alkalol Nasal Wash, it's a mucus solvent. I like to put about a shot glass worth in it first, then the distilled water. It's safe to use every time, but you really only need it when you are congested, and it leaves your sinus fresh feeling and clean as a whistle. The only drawback is that the salt pots are way overpriced. I will be searching YouTube for that workaround that was mentioned. I do recommend this product, especially to people like me that's tried everything else.

Excellent pre-emptive action

By J Raphael, Santa Barbara, CA, Verified Reviewer

I have a terrible problem with sinusitis. Living here in California with all of the new growth (pollen, spores, etc.) really aggravates my sinus. In the past, whether it be an allergy or cold, I would develop post-nasal drip then terrible bronchitis.

Since I have been using the system, ALL of this stopped. In the eight months I have been using this, not a "hint" of congestion, and my sinuses are cleared out. Last month I ran myself down and got what seemed to be some sort of sinus infection. The gentle "suction" cleared out the worst of the goop accumulating in my lungs. I use the Navage rather than blow my nose because it really clears out any and all debris or mucous build up. I have used all sorts of remedies before this. Navage is a little more "assertive," but gentle. Two friends now use this system.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great product

By Arthur Fine, San Diego, California, Verified Reviewer

I saw this product advertised on the internet and thought that this would solve a problem my mother-in-law has, which is Rhinitis. I bought this basic package and tried it for myself before setting it up for my mother-in-law. My wife and mother-in-law raved how wonderful this is at cleaning out her nose without getting soaked.

Definitely a five-star product. Thank you for a great product. I will have to order more saline pods in the near future.

Love, love it

By Jen Ledesma, California , Verified Reviewer

This is the best system for clearing up leftover goop after blowing your nose. It gets out the mucus from your forehead, nose, and throat and actually cleared up my stuffy ears. I always rinsed from a cup, but it was messy each time. This is an amazing little machine. I highly recommend it.

Works very well

By John Pairrett, Phoenix, AZ, Verified Reviewer

I have had sinus problems most of my life. I finally got into Neti Pots, which offered some relief but were very had to use.

I found a device that is like a big syringe with rubber nose converters and works much better than Neti Pots and somewhat easier to use. The biggest drawback of both systems is prep and cleanup times, plus the length of time to use. I used it mostly right before bedtime and this prevented use because of being tired and not wanting to take time.

Navage takes care of all these issues; easy to use, which encourages more use, and makes my sinus feel much better quickly.

I would recommend it to anyone in need of extra help with sinus problems. I would like to have packets for use in very dry air that helps dryness in sinus here in Arizona.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
