I’m hooked

By MH, Atlanta, GA, Verified Reviewer

We’ve had our bike almost a year, and everyone in our family has used it at some point. My 16-year-old son used it in the winter months as part of his triathlon training. I probably use it the most and ride several times per week. The bike is best in class and is definitely worth the price if you’re serious about investing and committing to it, but the instructors and content are where it really stands out. You can customize your rides by instructor, music, type of ride, duration and difficulty. It’s hard to beat the convenience of being able to access this level of content in your home. We love it!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Height adjustments

By Jennifer C, Pennsylvania, Verified Reviewer

I just wanted to leave a comment that the height ranges listed above shouldn’t stop anyone! I’m well under 4’11” and have no problems riding my Peloton! Just go to a store and try it out first to make sure it fits. It’s an awesome bike!

Best fitness investment we've made

By Jim J, Centennial, CO, Verified Reviewer

One year and 185 rides later for me, 250 for the wife, I can say this was the best health-related investment we could have made. The wife is a recreational runner, I'm a road biker, and we are both in our 50s, and struggle with making time for fitness. Trying to make Spin classes at the gym was difficult; was running late and would blow it off, or being gone for 2 hours to get in an hour workout wasn't an efficient use of time.

The Peloton solved these issues. I can hit a live ride, with no psychological difference from a shared pain and motivation standpoint from a gym spin class, but if I'm 10 minutes late, I can just do one of the thousands of on-demand rides, with no difference from gym spin class. No excuses are necessary. I can ride 30 minutes, 45, 60, 90; whatever I want and whenever I want. I can filter to ride to classes with music I like (60s, 70s, 80s, New Wave, whatever), and modality I like (HIIT, power zone, heart rate zones, whatever). The 20,000+ members of the Facebook group offer support and motivation.

I am fortunate to have a nice carbon road bike with quality components, and I believe this spin bike is the stationary equivalent to that. We had no issues with delivery, set up, and have had zero issues with the bike, with over 400 rides, figure 300 hours, equivalent to 6000 miles (and no flat tires).

Pricey? Yes. Worth it? I think so. For everyone? No, some people are happy with Le Car.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Awesome bike!

By Nolan A., Alexandria, VA, Verified Reviewer

My wife was in New York and saw the Peloton store while she was up there visiting girlfriends. She was impressed with what she saw. I knew she was seriously looking for a solid workout machine for the house so I figured it would be a great gift and great for her transition out of post-partum (recent childbirth). She got depressed after #1 and #2, so I was very motivated to help her however I could.

When it arrived, I was truly impressed. It has a very modern design, sleek. And very sturdy and well built. As nice (probably nicer) than any fancy bike you will see in a gym or studio. So far I have taken a class about two of every three days (for the last few months). Sometimes I do a live class, sometimes I do an "on demand" class. Just this morning, I woke at 6:50 and went downstairs and took a 45-minute live class. Damn, I’m feeling good at work today. Pre-work classes always make me a high functioning, energetic teammate in the office.

Always, I enjoy this bike so so much. On days when I’m feeling a little sluggish I’ll do a 20-minute class, when I’m feeling good I’ll do a 45-minute one. I burn around 250 calories for every 20 minutes I ride this bike (37-year-old male), which to me is a solid result for my efforts. Besides tracking calories, you can track your cadence (RPM), resistance (how hard or easy you set it), your heart rate, and your output (a measure of cadence and resistance). Also, you can see how well you are doing against yourself (your previous rides), others, and even friends. For someone who is inspired by competition (like me!), this is the workout bike for you.

As for my wife, although we got the bike "for her," we both use it equally. Some nights, after the kids are down, we head to the basement together and she does a 20-minute ride while I do a stretch (Peloton offers much more than just bike instruction), then we swap. For our stretch/yoga/strength classes that they offer, we just stream those to a TV from my phone. Of course, whoever is on the bike is using the bike screen. One of us has to put on earphones, it’s sort of annoying if we are both listening to instructors at the same time. Doing this workout together has actually been something that’s improved our relationship through a like interest, comradery, and improving each of our overall feeling (mind, body, etc). She ("we" as most now say) just had a baby, our second. She recently told me this has helped her drop the baby fat faster than any other form of exercise in the past. Makes sense considering it’s primarily working your thighs and glutes, which are the largest muscle areas in your body, resulting in a fantastic cardio workout.

As for me, I have seen massive improvements in my lower body physique. Actually my upper body as well as I often take classes that mix legs and arm workouts in one session-all on the bike (Peloton comes with weights and you pick between 1lb, 2lb, or 3lb).

So bottom line, we are both feeling energetic, healthier, and stronger. Which means (personally speaking), I’m feeling HAPPIER. Additionally, I play ice hockey, and as the oldest guy on the team, the bike has helped me regain some lost speed and strength. And most importantly, I don’t get winded after a long shift, which used to be the norm.

All and all, I have NO ISSUES with this bike. The worst thing to happen so far is the heart rate monitor (which is wireless) has lost connection during a ride, but that didn’t matter much to me. Maybe it was even my fault, I don’t know.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Best purchase ever!

By Tracee N., Tampa, FL, Verified Reviewer

This thing is amazing! No, it’s not cheap. Yes, you have to pay a monthly subscription fee...totally worth it, if you are committed. I ordered it on a Saturday, it was delivered the following Tuesday. The delivery crew was great, so polite and professional, and at my house EXACTLY when they said they would be. Sturdy bike, great monitor with amazing clarity. And Peloton customer service was awesome - a few days after I bought it, they offered a Black Friday deal where you get the full accessory package free. I had already bought it, but I emailed them anyhow, to see if they would honor it. Within 2 hours, they had credited me $300 to cover the Black Friday deal!

I love this bike, the classes, and instructors! I have used it every single day since delivery! I am hooked and will totally recommend it to everyone I know!

Instant gratification

By Woody D., Texas, Verified Reviewer

My wife is a regular Spin Class attendee, who also does Barre and Pilates. She is 50. I am an avid cyclist and workout at the gym three times a week. I am 59. Both of us enjoy pushing ourselves.

It was my wife's idea to get the bike. As for the cost, my most expensive bicycle costs almost three times the Peloton, so not a big deal. I believe any money put towards making you healthier is well spent.

The delivery guys were absolutely great. We got the bike the same week we bought it. Initially, we had some connectivity problems, which turned out to be my Spectrum cable modem. All of Peloton's customer service folks were excellent.

The bike itself is well built. It is stable even on our carpeted floor (with a mat), complaints about it squeaking after multiple weeks of usage are understandable. With any machine, there is some type of maintenance required...lube the pedals, maybe some silicone on the belt. Spin bikes at gyms are constantly taken care of.

There are a wide variety of workouts. I stick to the cycling. HIIT rides, climbing, low impact, Tabata...you name it. They even have some former Tour De France riders doing classes that are freaking INSANE! Music types...ditto...I just did a Metal ride, my wife a Southern Rock ride.

I love the fact there is absolutely no excuse for not riding...it's raining...too cold...too much traffic to get to the gym.

I am the type who likes to "leave it all on the road" so to speak. As they say, "Pain is just weakness leaving your body." My wife and I were already in good shape. We are now in great shape, heading towards "animal." We have an acquaintance who bought a Peloton and lost 50 lbs.

If you are a January 1 to March 1 gym type or have a collection of fitness stuff gathering dust, the Peloton my not be the best choice for you. It would make an expensive piece of furniture.

If you want a great workout, check out Peloton.

Well designed/ constructed luxury fitness item

By Steve and Beth, Atlanta, Georgia, Verified Reviewer

This review hits all the points very well, but for what its worth I'll add some further input as an owner of the bike. Price will be the major drawback for most, although a comparably designed spin bike with the same features (Schwinn/ Keiser/ LeMond/ Star Trac) - but without the Android tablet - will probably set you back something like $1,500 anyway.

Heavy perimeter weighted flywheel. (Key to good inertia/pedal stroke.)

Magnetic rather than friction resistance. (Nothing in contact with the flywheel - no maintenance, no brake pads to wear down and replace.)

Belt rather than chain drive. (Virtually silent, and again no maintenance - no chains to oil/adjust/tighten.)

All in all a very well designed/constructed spin bike. Comfortable (for a spin bike), rides quiet and smooth, very solid, really a pleasure to use if you're into spinning for exercise.

The Android tablet with all the on-demand spin classes (thousands now and counting?), 10 to 12 new live classes everyday, and scenic rides as well – more variety than my wife and I will ever exhaust. And we’ve found all the classes and instructors are great - they certainly keep you engaged and motivated.

BTW - I think the $250 "white glove" delivery and set-up may be mandatory now - not sure you can avoid that expense by putting it together yourself. But you absolutely do not need to purchase accessories (i.e. shoes, weights, headphones/ear-plugs, etc.) from Peloton - you may be able to do better elsewhere, although you might find their prices competitive on some of it. I would recommend that you get some Bluetooth compatible headphones/ear-plugs - the speakers are on the back of the tablet, and while they're certainly adequate, I've found the experience far superior with my Jaybirds (there are cheaper options).

Since I’m the first to comment here and for anyone considering the purchase, I’ll give our referral code below – two free additional months on the subscription – anyone is welcome to use. If you buy and whether you use us or someone else, please use somebody as a referral! That’s the only deal I’m aware that they’re running right now.

Enjoying the bike, fits my lifestyle

By Joanne Szewc, San Antonio, TX, Verified Reviewer

I look forward each day to get on for a ride. It fits my lifestyle and preferences of “exercising." Being on demand is the best feature.

I do wish for some upgrades to the app: being able to link on-demand cycling and beyond the ride classes to minimize the time to go through selection process once in exercise mode, being able to choose beyond the ride based on being still on bike or off bike, and having captioning as sometimes I don’t hear the instructor clearly due to either tuning into the music or conflict of tones around, and help clarify on countdowns to up/down saddle, resistance, cadence.

As for the bike, after about 6 weeks, it is still working well. The only challenge I been having is unclipping out of the pedals (I do have Peloton shoes), and I feel that I may strain my ankles in doing it.

Good but expensive

By Joe L., Deerfield Beach, FL, Verified Reviewer

I got my bike delivered within a week and it was set up fast by the delivery guys. Account setup and everything works fantastic. I had an issue with the screen about 2 months later but tech support was able to get it fixed with about a 20-minute phone call. All in all, it's a great alternative to having to join a gym.

Just ok.

By Mandi R., Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

The only good thing about it are the classes with good instructors, and the fact that it's right there in your living room. Other than that, it's a rickety piece of plastic with horrible customer service. The associate knew nothing and didn't let me know to buy the shoes and hand weights - which of course isn't included for the $3k, and also failed to mention the sign-up fee for the classes - $50 a month for "subscription." I'm sorry, but better to work around the spin classes at your local gym if you ask me.

Fun but want to be different!

I have joined the Peloton family for over 12 months now. I can't say that I enjoy the bike as a piece of equipment all that much by itself, but the instructors' lessons and workouts are really fun, so I enjoy that.
