Disappointed

By Tyler Benson, San Diego, CA, Verified Reviewer

I was excited about this toothbrush. Really. My boyfriend had a very expensive, yet bulky, electric toothbrush and loved it. I decided to order this product, brush heads, and toothpaste, and eventually ordered my boyfriend the same.

BUT, the second time I replaced the brush head, it would no longer stay on the toothbrush handle. It pops off every time I brush my teeth. I am now using a $50+ micro manual toothbrush head, which is not what I signed up for. I have emailed customer service twice asking for tips to fix the issue, and then a replacement, with no response. I'm withholding my other complaints about the product, hoping my issue will be resolved soon.

I feel cheated out of my money with this product. I'll update my review if I use the actual product in the future.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Works great, just what I need.

By Alexander Conley, Parker, CO, Verified Reviewer

I suppose I have been using Quip for 3-4 weeks now, and I am pleased for a few reasons. I like the suction holder/travel topper. I've moved it from home mirror to hotel mirror multiple times without fail. I like the design and feel. The weight is nice; it's not bulky, it's not too small, and it looks clean and classy. So far it performs better than my previous Sonicare and regular brush. A lot of that is due to the size of the head (slightly larger than the Sonicare) and the softer bristles.

I will also say this: after reading negative review after negative review, I think I have identified the issue. Along with your new product, Quip sends you a lot of information about not only how to properly use and care for that product, but also dental hygiene advice in general. I could have answered most of these questions myself based on that information. My advice is to place an order and read all of the information you receive. You will be surprised at how little you know about oral hygiene.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Ordered it over a week ago, still waiting for it

By J, Oregon, Verified Reviewer

According to the tracking, it shipped three days ago but has only traveled 12 miles!? Whatever, it's too late to cancel the order so in a month or so, if I ever get the damn thing, I will update this review. So far, I am not loving the experience with Quip.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Quip is a terrible toothbrush

By RE, New York, Verified Reviewer

I purchased the basic $25 Quip Toothbrush as a travel toothbrush. It is no better than a manual toothbrush. It vibrates, but it is not clear that the vibrations do anything in terms of cleaning. The one benefit over a manual toothbrush is that it has a timer, but really, you can count out the four 30 second periods yourself. It is quite attractive and has a nice looking case, but I can't wait to get home and use my regular cordless electric toothbrush. I can already feel the plaque starting to build up again over just a few days.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Hi,

As your dentist will tell you, the effectiveness of any toothbrush comes down to how it is used, not the features it has.

Quip uses the same nylon bristles, motor and in fact, manufactured next to other popular leading brands in the industry, so there will be no difference in the way your Quip itself brushes your teeth. The core thing that effects your oral health is how you use a toothbrush, diet and genetics.

Unfortunately, there are many dangerous misconceptions in oral care that we are trying to correct, such as the idea that whether a toothbrush is manual, gently vibrating, vigorously vibrating or rotating toothbrush is what effects your oral health. If they are all being used correctly (and have soft bristles), they will all "clean" perfectly.

The truth is, all toothbrushes should be used in exactly the same way, gently brushing tooth by tooth, focusing on the gum line area, making sure to cover the whole mouth. Unfortunately, many believe that manual brushes should be used with "big, strong, sweeping, brushing motions" and electric brushes "don't need to be wiggled around at all" and it is these misconceptions that can, in rare cases, cause people decline (or improve!) their oral health when changing brushes.

As we always say, we cannot speak to personal preference and the best brush for you is one that encourages you to brush 2 times a day, for a full 2 minutes.

We thank you for giving Quip a try!

A gadget

By S.I., New York, Verified Reviewer

It’s as bad as it is beautiful. When I turned it on, I really wondered if there was something wrong with my toothbrush. So I made some more research online, and I understood that the vibrations are just naturally extremely weak.

I don’t buy the Quip team answers according to which it’s not about power but how you use it. Quip doesn’t have much more power than a manual one. So you would need to use your Quip like a manual one to expect any result.

I’m still baffled that some people/magazines gave a good review. It just doesn’t make any sense. It looks like an Apple toothbrush but feels like a Dollar shop one.

Hi S.I

Just like on our website, and our help team has told you (and your dentist will tell you too), the effectiveness of any toothbrush comes down to how it is used, not the features it has.

Quip uses the same nylon bristles, motor, and even manufacturer as other popular leading brands in the industry, so there will be no difference in the way your Quip itself brushes your teeth. The core thing that affects your oral health is how you use a toothbrush, diet, and genetics.

Unfortunately, there are many dangerous misconceptions in oral care that we are trying to correct, such as the idea that whether a toothbrush is manual, gently vibrating, vigorously vibrating or rotating toothbrush is what effects your oral health. The truth is, all toothbrushes should be used in almost exactly the same way, gently brushing tooth by tooth, focusing on the gum line area, making sure to cover the whole mouth. Unfortunately, many believe that manual brushes should be used with "big, strong, sweeping, brushing motions" and electric brushes "don't need to be wiggled around at all." It is these misconceptions that can cause big issues, alongside the other major issues that most people are not brushing twice a day, for two minutes, or change brush heads when they are worn out.

Of course, we cannot speak to personal preference. The best brush for you is one that encourages you to brush 2 times a day, for a full 2 minutes.

Thanks for giving Quip a try!

Great brush, crappy plan

By Emily Atherton, Kamuela, HI, Verified Reviewer

Let me start by saying I love this toothbrush. What I absolutely hate are plans that the onus is on the company to cancel a plan. The wording is so difficult to decipher to guarantee that they don’t automatically send you a new brush head every three months. If I didn’t travel so much that might be OK. But to cancel the automatic replacement, you have to say "no, I don’t want that option, way too many times for it to be deactivated." Therefore, despite the fact I love the toothbrush, I can’t recommend it to my friends.

Not worth it! Return shipping not included!

By Nirav S., Seattle, WA, Verified Reviewer

I am a doctor and got the Quip because I thought it would be a good way to travel and brush my teeth similar to a Sonicare/Oral toothbrush.

I returned the brush after a day of use because the electric vibration really offers no added value of brushing your teeth by your hands.

We are sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your Quip!

All toothbrushes, whether manual or electric, should still be used the same by using small tooth sized strokes. The truth is, as the American Dental Association and Consumer Reports say, any electric toothbrush will clean your teeth just the same if you're brushing your teeth properly. That's why we created Quip, to help guide the habits that matter. Quip has earned the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance for safety and efficacy in removing plaque and gingivitis, so there will be no difference in the way that Quip brushes your teeth vs. another manual or electric toothbrush if you're brushing properly.

We also use dentist-recommended, industry standard, soft nylon bristles, and the same sensitive vibrations as many other electric toothbrushes, to provide a thorough, yet non-damaging clean, that's still gentle on the gums. With the addition of a 2-minute timer and 30-second pulses, the brush heads delivered on a recommended basis, Quip is guiding good habits that really matter.

We hope this explains why Quip vibrates the way it does. We thank you for giving us a try.

No customer service available, buyer beware!

By Kelly S., Cleveland, OH, Verified Reviewer

I bought this toothbrush and it was only OK. So I decided I would keep it just for travel. After three uses it quit working. I sent an email to help@getquip.com and never got a response. I sent 4-5 emails and never got a reply. I tried to call and no one answers their phone...you are directed to leave an email. I tried all of their extensions and the same "leave email" message is given. I doubt that I can get a refund as advertised.

Oh, and yes, I contacted them within the first week of receiving my toothbrush so well within the 30 days requires. BUYER BEWARE.

Our team replies to all emails within 24-48 hours during weekdays, usually much sooner! Unfortunately, without having your full name or email address, we cannot search you in our system. If your email was received in our inbox, it would have definitely been replied to as we do not leave any email unanswered. We would recommend checking your spam or junk folder in the case that our team's reply has landed there. We are always happy to help at help@getquip.com.

The good and the bad

By Randy E., Kansas, Verified Reviewer

I like the toothbrush, and it seems to be doing a good job of cleaning my teeth, but after two months of use, the head started falling off when I was using it. It falls off every time now, and is a problem! I have not got a new head yet, and I hope that will help. I have been using a Sonicare and was used to it. If you are making that switch and expecting the same brush movement, you will be disappointed. Brush movement is minimal, and you can barely feel any vibration at all. The brush head seems to be good quality. Still not sure if I will stay with it or not.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Poor customer service

By Andres Casademont, Philadelphia, PA, Verified Reviewer

When you are dealing with a website service, and they do not provide a call in number nor provide tracking numbers, what do you do? It is annoying that I have to send an email and wait for their response to something I should be able to see when I sign in.

Hi Andreas!

We provide a tracking number via email (with a clickable track button) the second your order ships, as well as provide basics tracking number on our website in your profile area.

We answer all emails within an average of 8 hours and are available seven days a week. We pride ourselves on our customer service and are sorry that not having a direct phone line (yet) as a growing startup, led you to feel you were receiving poor customer service.

We hope you enjoy your brush :).

Waste of money

By D Jones, Texas, Verified Reviewer

Horrible waste of my money. The first two toothbrush heads snapped in half after about a month each, and now I'm on my third and it won't click down all the way onto the base. The toothbrush literally falls apart in my hands while using it. Save your money and invest in a quality toothbrush.

Hi D Jones,

We can't find any help tickets in our system under "D Jones." To hear of a brush head snapping even under extremely hard brushing conditions is extremely rare, let alone twice.

Can you please let us know your order number or send us a help email to help@getquip.com, so we can look into this for you. We are worried that there may be something about how Quip is being used, refilled, handled or stored that may be causing issues.

Look forward to helping you.
