The experience was great! Cindy was such a nice person and answered all the questions I had. She made it feel like a caring place. I loved the way I was able to have the 3D scan and see it right there in person. I am ready to feel confident with my smile and I appreciate that they will be there throughout the journey.

Month 3 and showing improvement!

I made my appointment on July 25 at a Smile Bus. I had been reading reviews for a time to decide if I wanted to try SmileDirect. Was happy to see on Facebook that a Smile Bus was coming close to our area (Manhattan, KS). The closest Smile Shop would be a 2-hour drive to Wichita, KS.

I am 69 with some periodontal issues, 4 areas where my gums are receding. I have 6 crowns. They still excepted me for a Smile plan.

I am in my 3rd month. During that time, I have had one aligner that was not quite right. The Dentist overseeing me had me move on to the next set of aligners. Was pretty sore for a few days but worked fine. My gum issues are no worse. Perhaps a little better with the frequent brushing and flossing.

I struggled with removing the bottom aligners, especially the third set which is heavier plastic. I finally started reaching inside with the outie tool and lifting up. Then go around the front and lift. Works for me!

.I'm seeing nice movement of my teeth and can't wait for the final product, straight teeth

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Initial Consult was a great experience

I arrived early for my appointment as a new client and didn't expect to be seen early but actually I was! Customer service was outstanding and very professional. I would consider the company to be an "upscale dentistry" and I would most definitely recommend family and friends. Overall I was pleased with my experience, rating at 8 can't give a 10 because service isn't completed.

Good - could be better

As a 47-year-old, I was not very happy with my smile. I had braces as a kid and of course, no one really reinforced that you need to wear an aligner for the remainder of your life. I was not really up to dealing with braces again and the cost of Invisalign was as much if not more than braces.

I had been seeing several versions of these removable aligners and started doing some research. I had read reviews, looked at deals come and go, and talked to my dentist who was against using these types of aligners.

After much deliberation and just not being happy with my smile, I finally decided to give SDC a shot. The reviews were about 50/50. People seemed to love it or hate it but I figured I didn’t need much movement so took the risk.

I set up my appointment online, which was easy. I made my way over to a smile shop to have my scan completed. I didn’t really have many questions and I thought I had done enough of my homework. A couple of weeks later my box showed up with my aligners for a 5-week treatment. In my head, I didn’t think that was going to be long enough but popped in the first set and off I went.

By mid-phase, I really didn’t think I was getting enough movement to be done in 5 weeks. I had sent over some comments to the SMD team who responded back and assured me that if I was not satisfied at the end of the treatment I could schedule another scan and receive additional aligners.

I rode out the treatment and was actually surprised by the result. I think I could probably use a little more treatment but my wife was happy with the result so I decided to order my retainer.

The positives:

I don’t mind smiling for the camera anymore. Actually I make a point of smiling. The aligners were relatively painless compared to what I remember from having braces. No bleeding lips, gums, cheeks, etc. I could eat whatever I wanted when I wanted. The aligners were easy to clean. The aligners were durable. I am a night grinder and these held up well. The whitening application is a plus. I haven’t used it yet but will soon. For me, the cost associated with the treatment I received was comparative. Communication online was quick via Messenger.

The could be better:

I think overall, SDC needs to be honest with its customers. The selling point made it these aligners will straighten your teeth and a substantial amount less than braces. What is not clearly stated in the advert is that the aligners only focus on the front 6 teeth. These are not truly comparable to braces and, although fine for me, I would not recommend this service to someone that has serious misalignment issues, bite issues, jaw issues, etc. The other thing I think needs to be improved is the SDC’s alignment with appropriate dental providers. General dentists are NOT orthodontists and should not be consulted for the alignment of teeth. I didn’t like the fact that my "dental expert" was a general dentist. I also did not like the fact that I was misled into thinking I was going to have a video conference after 90 days to have a discussion with my dental expert to discuss my concerns and progress. Instead, I had to contact SDC multiple times because I was due for my check-in and never received a reminder, notification, etc. After several messages, I was told that a reminder and link were sent to my email, of which I never received. A second attempt was made, also not received. I was then asked to submit pictures and comments and just received back a note saying that the dental experts review my case and to keep progressing. Lastly, when I did order my retainers, I waited over month with no notification of shipment. When I contacted SMD, I received an apology and a refund but was unable to be given a solid delivery date. I finally did receive my retainers and I am slightly disappointed in the quality of the retainer. It is made of a more lightweight material, similar to SDC's week 1/week 2 aligners. It would be better if they were made of the thicker materials like that in their week 3/4 aligners. I am actually still using my last aligner as my retainer and will keep the new one as a backup.

So, all in all, I am good with the result and that’s most important. The online communication was good, needs a little improvement. Quality of service I think is where SDC needs to focus their attention - be honest with their clients, utilize the correct professional staffing and have better oversight of the supply chain.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

SmileDirectClub SmileBus

My SmileDirectClub SmileBus experience was very quick and pleasant. When I got there I signed in on an iPad with my email and then the appointment started. Ryan (SmileGuide), the dental assistant, was very nice and answered all my questions that I had. He made the scan process quick and easy with his steady hands and his prior dental knowledge and know-how. Ryan and the rest of his team were welcoming and made the whole appointment "quick and painless". Bus 1, Williamsburg, VA.

The best dental visit ever

The Smile Guide Cheivia was amazing. I give her 5 stars.

Cheivia was our Smile Guide during my son's visit to be scanned on 12/7/19. We went to the CVS in Brandon. Cheiva was patient and explained the process to my son. He was nervous about starting with SmileDirectClub. Cheivia ensured him that he would receive the support needed in his journey towards a brighter smile.

I want to be clear that the five-star review is for the Smile Guide Cheivia.

SmileDirectClub is currently ranking at a 3 for me. I signed up during their Cyber Monday promotion. The day before my appointment, I called customer service to confirm the appointment and verified that my $200 Cyber Monday promotion was on the account. She stated that it was there and confirmed the appointment. During our visit, I was told by a customer service rep over the phone that the $200 credit had expired because I booked my appointment for Saturday. They never stated on their site that the credit would not apply if I selected a date they offered. The appointment was made on Cyber Monday. The customer service rep I spoke with the day before did not state the credit would expire. None of this information was provided until the Smile Guide was unable to find the promotion on my account. She did everything in her power to make it right. The service rep over the phone offered me a retainer in place of the $200. My son is dual enrolled as a high-school and college student. He was able to locate a student discount. This experience made me feel that this company could not be trusted and would not honor what they say. Cheivia's empathy and honesty are why I moved forward with my son's treatment. While I encourage you to go visit Cheivia at the Brandon CVS on Providence, be careful when it comes to promotions offered by SmileDirectClub.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

3D scan

I’m so excited to have the perfect teeth I’ve always wanted. The lady who did the 3D scan helped me explain everything and they also give me a free whitening kit. I’ve seen YouTube videos and also from my friend's experience, SmileDirect aligners really do work.

Madison from SDC reached out to me via this site and quickly issued a refund (I believe I had it the next day) and placed an order for new retainers. While I thought they were going to take five to six weeks, they shipped in about two weeks and I received them last night.

I am appreciative of the online customer service and all things considered, I think I had a better experience with SmileDirectClub than most.
