Season them twice a year

By Paul Bogenrief, Newport Beach, CA, Verified Reviewer

A lot of folks say these pans don't remain non-stick after a few uses. I have not had this experience. Why? Because the instructions that come with the pans say you should season them at least twice a year, as follows: 1) rub cooking oil around the inside of the pan, 2) put the pans in a 300° F oven for 20 minutes, 3) remove from oven and allow to completely cool, 4) wipe any excess oil off the pan. If you do this and are careful not to scratch the pans, they should retain their non-stick qualities.

Not impressed

By Fred Nichol, Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada, Verified Reviewer

This pan is neither non-stick nor scratch proof, as well mine warped and no longer sits on our flat top properly! Typical gimmick bull crap! Not worth the money. My Heritage Rock pans lasted long, although with the same result.

No good. Do not buy.

By Dinesh Thaker, Georgia, Verified Reviewer

I purchased my pan directly form Gotham Steel a few months ago on 12/13/2017. I wanted to it make scrambled eggs and omelets, a frequent breakfast for me. I've used it about 20 or so times, and while it showed good non-stick properties at the beginning, lately I find myself making scrambled eggs with my omelet fillings mixed in. I even resorted to an olive oil spray and even straight EVOO, but to no avail. I'm probably going to go out and purchase a pan that actually works.

Falls advertising. Rip off.

Bottom line, no, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Gotham frying pan sticks

By Frances Gale, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I received this pan as a gift and was thrilled. It was great for about a month and was only used for eggs and bacon, but then began sticking and I can't use it unless it is something with liquid. I am very disappointed after all the publicity, and where to go to try and get refunded, or get a replacement and see if it does the same thing. I am willing to try.

Not a wonder pan after all!

By Byron F. Hoover, British Columbia, Canada, Verified Reviewer

The TV commercials, which are designed to market Gotham Steel fry pans, glorify the fry pan as stick free. Not true! It is very very difficult to clean the stuck on food.

Simply put, I can no longer use my pan due to the way food sticks to the pan. Not even oven off cleaner works well! For the first few weeks at least, the pan was easier to clean. Now it is a nightmare to try and clean, and it is the worst pan is my cupboard! All food being cooked in it sticks as if it was glued on. It really is no longer usable.

To be certain, I do not want a replacement pan nor do I want my money back. I'll just chalk it up to the Gotham Steel experience!

I bought this pan in a store which exclusively sells TV advertised goods in the city of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, roughly three months ago The average use is about 1 to 1.5 times per week.

Why I am upset the way I am is not so much the pan. After all, it is just a pan! It is for the false dialogue and excessive energy used in the TV commercials promoting the pan. I have come to believe these commercials were most misleading to the consumer. Also, the commercials very highly overrate the product quality.

I feel I was conned because I wanted to believe that what was being said in those commercials was true and accurate. I was wrong! Because of their betrayal of my trust, I now have a very dim view of Gotham Steel commercials and products.

My motivation in preparing this review is to vent my frustration in the hope that someone at Gotham Steel just might rethink their marketing standards and take appropriate action.

"Nonstick" coating coming off!

By Beverly Hamp, Marquette, MI, Verified Reviewer

My husband purchased the Gotham Steel square pan as a Christmas gift for me (December 2017). I watched the commercials and noticed a metal spatula and metal tongs were being used. I read the warranty info enclosed in the box, and their commercial is misleading since the info states to NOT use metal inside the pan. I've treated my pan like fine china and yet I am seeing scratches inside the pan, and now the coating both inside and out is beginning to flake off! My pan is less than three months old. I love how easily it cleans and that nothing sticks, but it won't be long before the pan is useless due to the coating coming off. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed.

Handles

By Kathy Schwab, Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I bought my set at Bed Bath & Beyond here in Kamloops, and I like the pots and pans well enough, but I am not happy with the handles/lids on them. I burned the palm my right hand by lifting the frying pan and found the handles too narrow to grip safely.

I suggest that they either warn shoppers to use protection when lifting the lids or handles on their pans or perhaps coating them with a heat-resistant surface.

I went back to Bed Bath & Beyond and purchased a silicone gripper, but it doesn't work very well either as the handles are too thin to grip properly, and it was an added expense that did not help the problem.

I would tell others about this product but would warn them to be careful when lifting the lids or picking up the pots and to use pot holders when doing so.

I hope you find my input helpful.

Very disappointed...

By Sheila Ogle, Bushnell, IL, Verified Reviewer

I received a 3-piece set for Christmas, and I was thrilled to get it. I have had no trouble with the pans with exception to the large fry pan.

The first time I used it the bottom caught fire and half of the bottom coating came off! I don't have the heart to tell my gift giver about this, but I fear this is a hazard to the consumer.

I have either received a flawed pan, or this is a trait they have? As I stated, the other pans have been fine. I tried using it again today with the same result, so it is getting thrown away.

I would like to contact the company about this, but I can't find a direct website for them.

Everything sticks to it

By Cal Smith, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I bought it at the Canadian Tire store on our trip to the Yukon and used it a few times to try and save water on cleaning. It didn't work out. We still have it and will give it back to Gotham if they pay for shipping.

No good

By Allison S, Saskatchewan, Canada, Verified Reviewer

Don't get suckered in because you like Batman. I bet Bruce Wayne could make better cookware. We purchased the 8.5" pan as well as the Crisper Tray. I can't remember a time when it didn't stick, honestly. Just buy pans on sale at Canadian Tire. And the Crisper Tray, nothing gets crispy. I've tried a few different things on it, and they all stay slightly moist. I would much rather flip every single fry then use the crisper again.

Great product but handles get hot

By Bryce Killman, Cayuga, Ontario, Canada, Verified Reviewer

I have, I think, almost every Gotham Pan out there. I think it's a great product and does what it says it does. I only have one complaint. The lid handles on the pots get hot. I have burnt my hand a few times. I love the product, but there should be a warning that the lid handles get hot.
