Copper Chef pan, not at all what it is suppose to be

By Jeanine Barry, Coeburn, VA, Verified Reviewer

Yes, I got the Copper Chef pan for Christmas from my loved one, he bought three to give at Christmas. I cooked a whole chicken with carrots and taters, but the chicken was so dry, the carrots were still hard, and the taters were not done either. I know how to cook, but whoever invented this cooker sure doesn't.

So I'm giving it zero stars. Do not buy this skillet, it is nothing but a mess. I gave one star because if not, they wouldn't post my message.

Scam

By Barbara Mock, Fairdealing, MO, Verified Reviewer

I saw the advertisement on TV for the Copper Chef pan and thought it would be a great Christmas gift!

I went online, and the photo was the same deep skillet shown on TV. The ad offered the skillet for $19.99, but also offered a bonus lid for $7.95. It then offered an additional skillet for $14.99. I thought that was a great deal!

The credit card was billed about $51.00. I received my skillets around 12/28/16, which I give them credit for since I didn't order until 12/21/16. HOWEVER, all I received were two nine inch skillets and no lid! I called them 12/30/16 twice, but their computers were down.

I called just now and asked why they falsely advertised, but "Abbey" didn't really say anything except that I didn't pay for the lid! Each skillet was $7.95 shipping and handling too. I told her it would have been cheaper at WalMart and I won't deal with their scam. I asked for paid return labels, and she said I have to pay to return them!

I am a 61-year-old widow and only wanted to get my girls a nice gift. I would be too embarrassed to hand them a 9" skillet without even a lid!

Lying Fraudsters

By Thomas Donahue, Los Angeles, CA, Verified Reviewer

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with!

In early December, I ordered the deluxe pans, and on December 12th everything arrived dented, scratched and used looking. I called customer service and was promised replacements would be sent right away as these were to be Christmas gifts for relatives.

I returned the broken items on December 14th to Copper Chef's Merchandise Return Unit. Nothing arrived before Christmas and I figured it was due to heavy holiday mail.

I called again on December 29th and the customer service rep told me that the previous lady had lied to me, and they did not show having the items back, even though they were post marked as returned 15 days prior, and they never send replacements until they have the damaged products in hand. Then was placed on hold for 27 minutes listening to the same recording telling me an agent will be right with me and to press "2" to continue to hold. I tried even writing their "Chat" located on their site, but gave up after no one was replying.

I still have NOTHING, they have my money and 15 days ago I already returned their broken pieces of crap cookware. If their merchandise won't survive mailing, how will it survive daily use in a kitchen?

Do NOT buy this junky TV product. You will only be disappointed and have hours of aggravation dealing with their non-performing customer service agents. You've been warned!

Questionable business practices from an implied legitimate company

By Herb, Saint Louis, Missouri, Verified Reviewer

Got my new pan yesterday and found that I was missing the four legs for the steam rack. I called Copper Chef and was told they don't replace missing parts and I would need to purchase another steam rack to get my missing parts. What kind of policy is that from an implied legitimate company?

Check your box for all the parts before you buy! The pan seems to perform as advertised, except for when I need to steam some vegetables, NOT so good.

Copper Chef doesn't stand behind their product

By Jim, Minneapolis, MN, Verified Reviewer

I bought a 9.5" square pan and an 11" round pan sold by Sam's Club over Christmas.

I like the way the pans cook but I've used the square pan twice, and the bottom copper is full of scratches from my electric stove burner. I called Copper Chef, and they said I could return the pan to Sam's Club to get a refund and then buy a new one at their price of $75 to replace my bad one. I wanted them to send me a new pan to honor their guarantee.

To me, they do not stand behind their product. To me, a guarantee is to either fix or replace the product with a like one, not to give your money back. I think their copper coated bottoms are only painted, which will scratch, and I don't think these pans are as good as advertised on TV.

So let the buyer beware. The company is in it only for the money. I've also read that they these ceramic coated pans do not like oil in it to cook with. It will deteriorate the nonstick bottom. So they recommend not using oil to cook with and if you do, wash it off right away.

Copper Chef square pan

By Gwenn, Boise, ID, Verified Reviewer

I LOVE my Copper Chef pan!

I have used it in all capacities available. My fried foods have turned out golden and crisp, I have used it to bake and on my stove top burner. It washes up nice, and it has not been scratched out or marred due to use. The underside is that it has a bit of discoloration from the burner, but that's normal I believe.

I absolutely LOVE it and will be purchasing additional products from this line. Thank you!

Size matters

By Stasey, South Carolina, Verified Reviewer

I felt that the infomercial did not convey the true size of the pan. I would not have ordered it had they shown its true to size in the commercial.

Pan stops working after six months

By Julie Luke, Verified Reviewer

The pan has a bad handle, to start with, and it's very long and hollow. You don't want a hollow metal hand for a pan. The non-stick stops working after about 5-6 months, and customer service does not offer to replace the pan. You have to pay for the shipping, if it is covered under warranty, but unfortunately, the warranty is only for two months. The cost of shipping is equal to that of a new pan. So why would you pay for shipping and the cost of a new pan?

Shipping is about $14.00 and a new pan under there replacement warranty is $14.99. That means you'll spend twice as much to replace it. A new pan is about $19.99 and shipping is $10.00.

They don't stand behind their product, and they don't want to pay for shipping. The pan has issues and isn't very good to work with. The company doesn't seem to care, and trying to get a hold of customer service is next to impossible. They don't have the phone number up, and it is difficult to find.

I would not recommend this product. The trouble is companies that produce bad merchandise and act like they have a warranty when they actually don't. A good pan would last at least a year for the $60.00 I paid for it and the rice cooker.

Can't write a review on the rice cooker, since I haven't used it yet. I fear the same issues will result.

Love, love, love!

By Tonia, Georgia, Verified Reviewer

I own the Copper Chef and use it daily!

After reading the reviews I can tell there's some confusion. Others wrote about seasoning the pan, and that's NOT true, that's the Red Copper Pan. Or that the commercial shows them using metal utensils, again, that's Red Copper. Someone wrote that you can't use olive oil, which is not true, it just says extra virgin olive oil shouldn't be used because a film will build up, but it says to boil water with a little bit of dish soap to remove the film. I could go on and on!

I purchased Red Copper first because the advertisement said that metal won't scratch, but the first thing I read in the paperwork was "Don't Use Metal Utensils." Really? So this bold lie made me return it.

Then I called Copper Chef and asked if metal will scratch it, and she said that of course it can, and she would have warned me about this whether I had asked about it or not. That honesty sold me, so I placed my order, and I don't regret it one bit.

I upgraded to the 11" square pan (didn't know that was an option before the call), which added $9.99 to each payment, so I happily proceeded. I can lay out bacon completely flat, and it'll all cook evenly. A warning, though, the 11" just barely makes it in my oven with the long handle. I have to turn it at an angle, and thankfully can close the oven door. So those with smaller ovens, beware.

I'm a frugal mom, and this was worth every penny. No complaints yet, and I really think I will never have one!

P.S. I hide mine, and will never allow my husband or kids to use it. It's my toy, and risking sounding corny, it really makes cooking fun, and I'm amazed by it every time I use it.

P.S.S. I also recommend serving out of it yourself with kids, or transfer meal to another dish, because they will go digging in with a metal utensil! No scratches on mine, but I don't risk it anymore.

I have received nothing for this review, and it's the first I've ever done for anything, but, if you haven't noticed, I really love this pan!

Copper Chef Square Pan

By Pamela Alksne, California, Verified Reviewer

I bought two pans, one for me and the other for gifting.

I used mine for a few months. I noticed the first time I used it there appeared to be a raised area in the center. I called and was told that it was normal.

After using it a few more times, it became difficult to clean, as everything sticks. There is no way you can cook without oils or butter, which was the reason I purchased this pan in the first place. It is certainly not as advertised.

I called today and was informed that I needed to send a check for $14.99, along with the defective pan, to cover shipping it back. Now this pan has cost me over $100, which is excessive. I haven't decided if I will return it or just cut my losses and throw it away. If the replacement ends up having the same issue, I will incur more expenses.

I order from QVC as well as HSN, and I plan on notifying them of my unfortunate situation, so all their customers are aware.

Huge disappointment

After a year, everything sticks. I have tried to clean it using different methods, but it still sticks. Now I have another "waste of money" product.
