Okay but beware, it's a subscription

By Mike Zieroth, Illinois, Verified Reviewer

The plan was okay, and I lost about 10 lbs. The food wasn't great, but it helped me in getting used to eating smaller portions. I didn't realize it was a subscription and nowhere under your account info when logged in does it mention it. One morning I received an email saying they were billing me for another month at $383, and when I called to cancel I was charged $125 to cancel.

My advice would be to look for other food options. I can buy frozen Atkins meals for half the price at the grocery store, although the selection is limited.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Horrible food, horrible company

By Rob N, San Diego, CA, Verified Reviewer

I agree with all of the other reviews! It's horrible tasting food that stunk up my house. I couldn't take more than a few days of this disgusting food before calling their rude customer service 'cancellation specialist department' who tried to charge my card $125.00 before I could even get off of the phone. I had my bank reverse the charges because they are not upfront about the cancellation charges, which you won't find about until you cancel.

Bad food, bad taste, bad customer service, and bad company. Save your money!

Don't do it. The food was bad and I got severely ill.

By Teri Layman, Newport Beach, CA, Verified Reviewer

When I contacted the company to tell them that I had gotten severely ill with the food they sent me, the only thing they could do is charge me for cancellation of the next shipment. I called them and tried to escalate to a supervisor. Food poisoning is not fun. If they had cared and tried to help me, I wouldn't be writing this.

Save your money

By Lisa D, Matthews, NC, Verified Reviewer

While the plan is easy to follow, the website is not user-friendly. Customer service is atrocious, beyond rude, have no idea what they are doing, and are not familiar with the plan. Food is okay, and only a handful of things that were horrible.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

BAD NEWS DIET

By Johna, Culver City, CA, Verified Reviewer

Agree with the reviews about the company not telling you that you have signed up for auto delivery and then when you try and cancel, they charge you. It happened to us twice.

First this happened to us when I ordered for my husband and just wanted the one month. When we were sent a notice saying “your new shipment is on the way”, we called and found out we were set up for auto delivery and told them to cancel and found out there is a cancellation fee.

After talking with a few people, they worked it that we would be charged $100, instead of $150 fee and the $100 charge would buy some lunches and a few snacks and then we would be canceled.

So, my kind mom decides she would surprise her son-in-law and called them and said she wanted to send a little more food, so South Beach restarted the auto delivery without saying boo to any of us. Meanwhile, my husband developed hives/welts all over him, even his palms.

The doctor said to stop eating the food. So, we still have food in the freezer.

Yesterday we received that fun notice that a new shipment was being sent! No joke, spent almost 1.5 hours on the phone and was transferred eight times, talked to the counseling department Customer service, program consultant, cancellation dept, etc.

I got to the point where I was yelling at them. Told them about the welts and luckily I had taken pictures. Finally, they agreed to a refund. Will never buy anything from these guys, ever.

True review

By Nadia J Oliver, Clearwater, FL, Verified Reviewer

I am so glad that I have found South Beach Diet. They promised me to lose weight. Six weeks later, I lost 4 lbs.

I am tired of smelling the house like dog food every time I put one of their products in the microwave. My boyfriend runs outside because the whole house stinks. The worst diet plan that anyone that falls into by watching a stupid commercial on the television. It should not be called South Beach Diet. It should be called South End Diet because it could be the end of your life if you keep eating this food. And this is no joke.

Oh, and the snacks. Fat content against calories, and if you are watching your fat intake should be no more than a third. Ha ha ha, what a joke. Garbage, total garbage. It is probably cat and dog food mixed together. I want a total refund, and I want it now before a lawsuit follows.

Taste

By Kp, Astoria, NY, Verified Reviewer

I was so excited when I heard that South Beach Diet had food delivery. I have the book and used the recipes, which were very tasty.

What a disappointment. The food is pretty bad. I threw away the break eggs because I could not stomach them. There were only a few things that I could enjoy.

Don't waste your money. When I called and expressed my concern, they didn't seem to be concerned at all.

Gross food, terrible company

By Anne, Chandler, AZ, Verified Reviewer

This is the biggest waste of money ever. The food was truly disgusting. They do not guarantee their product, so if you don't like it that's your problem, and you're out the $300. And their "week free" with sign up includes signing you up for their auto delivery. Even more expensive is the nasty food forced on you. If you try to cancel, they charge $125 for that "free week."

The food is filled with preservatives and other fake food ingredients. The carb count was crazy high; in Phase I, there is starch in the snacks! The South Beach diet works, but this isn't that diet. I actually GAINED WEIGHT with this garbage.

Summary: They have gross, fake food, provide no refunds and no guarantees. Also, I was automatically signed up for FORCED AUTO DELIVERY (which costs $125 to cancel), and I gained weight.

Stay far, far away.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
