    Noom Diet

A good base, but needs work

    Overall Experience:

The concept is pretty good, but there are parts that just don't work for me. I do like the daily pointers that come across the app, although they think they are funnier than they are. The database of foods is really lacking, nothing akin to the size of the database that LoseIt! or MyFitnessPal have, so that's rather frustrating. For example, I tend to eat a 12-grain bread occasionally. They don't have my exact bread in their database. When I just look at the 12-grain breads they do have, one entry (unknown brand, doesn't say) is classified as a GREEN food and another one (also not labeled) is classified as a RED food - what the heck?

I do like the daily breakdown of green/yellow/red foods in the daily nutritional profile - I probably find that most helpful.

I find the coaching utterly useless. The "personal" coach never has any suggestions AT ALL - I would assume they can see what you're entering in your app and make suggestions based on that, but all she ever does is ask what I want to do. Well, I can do that for myself. There's zero feedback on the tracking you do. The group chat is only nominally better, because you might get feedback from other people in the group, but most people post something and who knows if anyone actually reads any of it. Again, there's essentially no feedback, so what's the point?

I am losing weight, and that's good - like I said, I do think that the tracking of what I'm eating does help (although I track on Noom and I also track on LoseIt! because they have a much better database, so I'm having to pretty much do it twice every day). In retrospect, would I pay for it again? No. Do I think it has potential? Yes, but it's not ready for Prime Time.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
