At the beginning of 2019, I had finally taken my brother's advice and started looking around for a counselor. Searching through my local community, I couldn't find anyone who had the appropriate credentials and also whom I could trust, so I started exploring online. Of course, I was essentially flying blind, with no way of knowing what I would find or how I could assess the quality of the assistance that they could provide.

I ran across the BetterHelp website, and it looked appealing, with thousands of counselors who have been vetted to the highest standards. I dug a little deeper, and sought reviews from disinterested third parties, and learned that lots of people were not only happy with BetterHelp, but were enthusiastic about the quality of service offered. I decided to give it a shot, and I am SO glad I did!

I completed a brief survey of my objectives and assessment of my needs, and within 24 hours a counselor had been assigned to me. Oh, and what a counselor she is! We started almost immediately, but since I live a third of the way around the world, scheduling was initially difficult. Even that was not a problem, though, because my counselor was willing and able to align her schedule with mine. And so it began.

One hour of live contact once per week at a monthly charge of $260 would be inexpensive at twice price. Throw in regular contact (sometimes daily) via secure email, so that some events and incidents can be discussed between live sessions adds an enormous amount of value to the service.

I would readily and enthusiastically recommend BetterHelp to anyone who needs this kind of service.
